Gentleman and a Van

I have used Gentleman and a Van three times now, and each time they've done a great job.  The latest was on Friday 25 October, when I moved from Hampshire to London.  The crew arrived on time, were efficient and organised, and packed my stuff into the Luton van so well that it all fitted.  At the other end, conditions were challenging as they had to block a road to unload, and take some big awkward items up a very narrow set of stairs.  They managed it with grace and good humour at all times.  A great service.

I would have no doubt to use Gentleman and Van again, they put my boxed up belongings into and then out of storage for me.  Those delivery boys were as strong as oxes and just raced through the van load of boxes.  They didn't bat an eye lid about all those boxes heading to the attic room either.  Despite the lighting pace at which they worked everything was treated delicately and respectfully keeping safe and intact all the contents even my delicate crystals wine glasses.

I highly recommend gentleman and a van. I have used them before. They are always professional, reliable and "can do". Tough large items - there is always a way and they find it. Even if it means dismantling and putting back together. After a long week prepping for move I was ready to sale large items but they managed to find a way through windows. Incredibly efficient.
Our place was a building site and with three locations including storage unit, the whole thing was done in half a day. Anyone needing a reliable professional hassle free move should use these guys. Highly recommended.

From start to finish, Gentleman and A Van provided such a truly excellent service. I felt in entirely trustworthy and experienced hands and none of my questions were too much bother to answer. I was very impressed with the professional and good value quuote so went ahead and booked, however, I was even more impressed with the 2 gents who moved our things – Sean and Ruben. They were utterly brilliant, together taking all of the stress out of quite a hectic / emotional day and totally professional from the very start. They were not only on time, but early, they treated everything with incredible care, they worked so hard to get everything done without having to call out an extra colleague to get the sofas through the window, they were much quicker than other companies had estimated, really efficient and litereally could not have done more for us, repeatedly making sure that we were happy with where everything had been put in the new place. They wrapped a few delicate items with brilliant care, nothing was damaged in any way at all and I wouldn't hesitatet to recommend the company wholeheartedly for excellent service, value, professionalism and care. Just brilliant.

Gentleman and a van service was best in class from first contact through accurate quote, prompt courteous and very careful guys packing and moving.  We didn't have to lift a finger! George, Michael K, Sean and Charles were just awesome, they had to move us out of a three bed fourth story flat (no lifts!) -working around an entrance way that had been partially blocked by scaffold.  The arrived with all the packing materials required an didn't stop. I can't recommend them enough - simply the best in thbusiness joby.

The service we received from Gentleman and a Van for our house move in London was truly excellent - very professional, trustworthy and really great customer service at all times. We got a good value quote that included packing, dismantling and putting back together furniture, all this done by 3 gentleman and all done on one same day. We were impressed with the staff - professional, very efficient time-wise, honest and dedicated. They took good care of all our items, nothing was damaged. I highly recommend this company based on the experience we had.

Gentleman & A Van provided a very good value, professional 'moving' & 'storage' service from start to finish. At every stage, the service was excellent, from initial enquiry, the move day itself thru' to the finish day of our storage contract ending. Gentleman & A Van, dealt with two/three last minute requests without fuss, and at the end (having used the storage facility for 8 months) refunded monies for 'unused' storage promptly.  On the move day, the team of four were all very hard-working, considerate at all times, careful with protecting all fragile/vulnerable items/furniture ensuring all suitably well-wrapped - the team were undoubtedly on our side! We unreservedly recommend Gentleman & A Van.

I have moved house many times over the years, and I have never found that perfect company who understands what it means to have your whole life's possessions in someone else care, until now that is!
 
Simply Gentleman and a Van are the best removal company I have ever used, they were courteous and very professional form the very first contact to the final invoice.
 
The 2 gentlemen (and they certainly were!) who removed me form one London location to another, arrived exactly on time, wasted no time in understanding my instructions and got straight down to moving things, I even felt confident in leaving them sets of keys, for both properties and asked that they lok the old one up and drop the keys through the letterbox.
 
None of my possessions went missing, or were damaged, and all were placed where I wanted, even to the point that they went above and beyond in getting my washing machine into place as the new flat I am in, has a specific place for the washing machine, and the builders didn't line them up exactly, so lots of physical moving was required!
 
They even set my bed up, with the clips, and placed the mattress as it should be with the label showing the right way round!
 
All in all I wouldn't hesitate in using them again (I hope I don't have to move, but if I do I know who to call!) I would recommend them to anyone in the London area to give them a try and see for yourself what a great removal firm should be!
 
As for the price, they were the cheapest quote I got, and I didn't have to haggle either!

This was one of the most pleasant moving experiences ever!  I was referred to Mark who is one of the owners of Gentleman & A Van by a friend who has a blog called American Girl in Chelsea. http://www.americangirlinchelsea.com/moving-use-these-movers/  She couldn't say enough good things about this company and I echo that.  I've already referred them to 2 other customers who were equally pleased.  Mark came to my flat to give me an appraisal of my 1 bedroom flat.  I needed to take 3 pieces of furniture to the new place I was moving and store the rest.  (Gentleman & A Van also have great storage facilities in Wandsworth, which I'm also using.)  Mark sent me a quote the next date -  1176GBP, which inlcluded 4 men and all the boxes.  The men showed up right on time and packed quite efficiently and professionally, with smiles.  They had to carry 80 boxes/furniture items down 88 stairs. I jumped in the van with them and stopped by at my new flat before heading to the storage facility.  They packed everything profressionally and my belongings fit perfectly in a 100sq ft facility.  I will definitely be using this company again!  Thanks so much!!

My recent move from W14 to W12 went off without a single hitch. The movers (Sean & Stuart) arrived on time, and were polite and efficient throughout the process.  The job had been assessed and quoted by James and everyone I spoke to or emailed at Gents & A Van were efficient and professional. Moving is probably the most stressful thing I have had to do (was at old flat for 13 years) but the boys who lifted and carried (and yes they were most definitely Gentlemen!) made it a lot less stressful than it could have been. They helped to move several things which I had forgotten as well as dismantling and reassembling my bed (which wasn't being moved into the new place) in my neighbour's flat below.  I also had an issue with my car and the boys tried to jump start the car - which was totally way above and beyond the remit of the job.  Unfortunately the car needed a new battery but it was the only hiccup of the whole moving day.  I can't recommend Gentleman & A Van high enough to anyone thinking of moving in the London area.  They took care of everything - including arranging for suspended parking bays (both ends) which meant I didn't have to get bogged down with Council paperwork. A 5* star service (if not more).

I have used Gentleman and a Van twice for moves made in the last six months and both times the service was flawless. I cannot fault one part of it. The team came and packed up for us the day before the move and left everything immaculately boxed when we got home that evening. The move itself was speedy and seriously efficient - arriving at 8am, everything loaded and on the van by 11am and the team were finished unloading in the early afternoon. They took very good care of all of our furniture, pictures and delicate items.  In addition to that they were seriously nice guys and a pleasure to have about at a pretty manic time. I would not hesitate to recommend them to others. .

We had a wonderful experience with Gentleman and a Van.  We had very short notice to find a mover and move.  The survey of our 4-bedroom house happened in the afternoon and I had the quote by the evening.   And, we moved the following week.  Everything was neatly packed on one day and we moved the next.  Our furniture was set up by 3pm and the boxes were placed on the correct levels of the house.   Nothing was broken and they were kind enough to hold buckets of aquarium water and our fish. The quote of 2000GBP (including insurance) was lower than the competitors.  .

The best removal company we have ever used. The two removal chaps, Ricky and Stuart were very proffesional. The whole experience was fantastic. They moved in total 106 boxes of household items plus many pieces of furniture. They packed items for us carefully and even managed to move a large 10ft tall 15 year old Yukka plant (which weighs a lot!) without any damage at all Nothing was a problem for them and they always had a smile on their faces. Would definately recommend! A credit to their company. .

I was quoted £720 for Gentleman and a Van to pack up and deliver the contents of my large one bed flat. I was told that they would arrive at 830am on the day and be finished unloading and putting the furniture back together by 5/6pm the same day. The two gentleman were half an hour early and had finished unloading etc by 3pm the same day which was absolutely fantastic. Both employees were extremely polite and took their time to talk to me about what items needed to stay and which needed to be packed. By 3pm all the labelled boxes had been unloaded into the correct rooms and large items of furniture such as my bed, sofa and desk had been put back together and in the right place. Upon unpacking I have found that everything was packed very well, none of the boxes were overloaded or too heavy and no items were broken or even damaged. I would highly recommend Gentleman and a Van and although I don't want to move for while yet, I will definitely be using them again!    .

Gentleman & a Van provided moving service within London. I had the following issues with them:

1) Packing was not done properly - this resulted in 20 broken items (glass & ceramics) plus damaged surface on a chest of drawers. Many of the broken items were of sentimental value. The company claimed that their staff was properly trained.

2) They sent the wrong size van - too small: as a result the van had to go back & forth - I had to go ahead of the van to pick up keys from the estate agent; as a consequence the movers left my flat after me and 'forgot' to bring one chair with them (fortunately I was able to retrieve this from the buyers of my flat - but it was an inconvenience)

3) When filing my claim I discovered that in spite of my specific request for proper replacement value insurance they self-insured. (Unfortunately I did not get this in writing.) Their settlement agent claimed that the terms and conditions would take into account wear & tear (this was not very clear, I took some legal advice suggesting it should cover replacement) and assessed typically 50% of replacement value. I did argue my case which resulted in a threatening response as follows: "In view of the above I await you confirmation that you would like me to ask our Principals to sanction a written valuation and that you are happy to run the risk that the settlement Proposal will be reduced. Alternatively please sign and return the Discharge Form to enable us to proceed with your Claim."

I considered taking Gentleman & a Van to small claims court, but in the end I just did not want to spend more time and effort on this.

I cannot recommend this company more highly. They were absolutely fantastic from start to finnish. They are by far and away the best and most professional removal company I have ever dealt with and I have moved many times in London.

I met with Mark, one of the companies Directors who was absolutely charming. He talked me through the moving process and got the quote out to me that same day. The quote was extremely competitive, had not hidden charges and so I made the booking.

The men that turned up to do my move were indeed "gentlemen". They couldn't have been more careful and helpful and nothing was too much trouble.
I have several expensive antique pieces of furniture and valuable canvases, all of which were very carefully and professionally wrapped and nothing had so much as a scratch on it when I unpacked.

Hats off to this company! Fantastic branding, a great company name and a wondeful concept. Very impressive from the top to the bottom. Quite brilliant!

I recently used Gentleman and a Van for my move to Bristol. I cannot speak highly enough about this company. They were absolutely brilliant. I got 3 quotes and their quote came in the middle of the three. They were marginally more expensive than the cheapest but were worth every penny.
All the movers were charming and friendy (real gentlemen) and the service was faultless.
I will be moving back to Battersea in 6 months time and I will not look at anyone else. Fantastic company!

For those considering Gentleman & A Van, I can only report our experiences dealing with this company in January 2012 were VERY POSITIVE.

*The fixed price quotation for our move was very competitive;

*Mark came to our flat to assess what we would need moving and he was very professional, polite and helpful;

*The Gentleman & A Van move booklet he left behind also left us in no doubt this was a serious and professional company. It also had some useful tips in for the day of the move and other things to consider when you are moving;

*On the day of the move, Gentleman & A Van arrived on time, and their two employees didn’t stop for a break until all our stuff was packed up and ready to be shifted;

*At the other end they again unloaded everything very quickly and didn’t stop for a break. Their work ethic was spot on;

*None of our belongings were damaged or broken in transit;

Gentleman and a Van are an outstanding removals company. The total fee charged includes VAT and insurance, all packing materials and all incidentals (parking suspensions etc) - there are no hidden extras and no admin charges. What they quote is what you get charged.

The gentleman who did the packing/moving were charming, helpful, polite and extremely careful with my belongings and with my home. They were such a pleasure to have around and so professional and courteous.

The packing was done with exceptional care and the packing materials were of a high standard.

I had a number of pieces that had to be disassembled and this was done with great care.

Gentleman and a Van also offer extremely competivite prices on storage, in fact so competitive that in addition to packing up my house I asked them to move a 30sq ft lock-up I had to their storage venue. They were more than happy to do this as part of the 'day rate' (no additional charge to drive to another venue after packing up my house) and saved me a huge amount of money as a result of moving out of that storage to their far more reasonably priced storage.

Little extras included breaking down some furniture and taking it to the tip for me - the only cost of that was the cost they incurred to take a van to the public tipping area - I was not charged for the actual trip to the tip - only what the council charges for them entering the dump in a van.

They organised the parking bay suspensions on my behalf and again, the only charge to me was the charge that the council imposed ie. no admin charge for arranging.

Overall I cannot fault anything and only have praise for this brilliant removals company. They are extremely competitive, in fact far cheaper than a number of other quotes I received - and even though they are cheaper they are still superior to any other removals firm i've ever used.

One further point - they do come and do a survey of your property before your move day to give you a precise quote. I was abroad at the time I needed to arrange this and panicking about how to get it all organised from so far away via email. I shouldn't have worried - they took all the stress out of my move and when I arrived back in London two days before my move and met one of the directors who came round to do the survey he couldn't have been more helpful and professional. All the admin had been organised and it was the least stressful move I have ever done.

I would recommend this company with no hesitation and will most definately use them again.
