Long-distance move from London, Greater London to London, Greater London

Unprofessional and stressful move.

The removal guys were OK, but they were hard to communicate with and I got the impression that they really didn't like doing the work. I can't say I blame them, but their stress and dissatisfaction was clear and made the whole experience pretty unpleasant. The guy that came to size the job underestimated the size of the load in our case, so you can guess that this didn't go down well with the movers. They were clearly sick of packing our stuff and in the end they said "we're full" and left us to pick up the pieces and fill up both our cars. It was pretty grim. To be fair to the movers, they took a lot of this on the chin and had been forced to hire an extra van, but they could not hide the fact that they were unhappy and stitched-up by the underestimate. I felt uncomfortable and embarrassed, but of course it was not my fault.

I can tell you in all honesty that I didn't want to use this company but they were the only one available on the day. It all panned out exactly as I guessed it would (from the other reviews), but I had no choice. I don't think they were even particularly cheap - a local and more professional company (with great reviews) gave a competitive quote - and I would have used them even if they were much more expensive.

We paid for them to pack and it was all pretty random. It took a good while to locate everything at the other end. They were all muscle and no brain IMHO. I have no idea why they felt the need to unpack every single draw and distribute the contents over multiple boxes. It seemed to me that they made the volume of their load much bigger than it needed to be. The other company said that they moved drawers without unpacking them.

SimplyRemovals.co.uk claim that they will pick up the cardboard, and I made appointments for them to do it, but they never showed up (after multiple attempts). They were full of sweetness on the phone, but it was BS. I wouldn't have written this review if they had bothered to pick up the cardboard as promised, but that was the final straw. They don't seem to realise that they would be better off if they just said they don't do it.

Their waiting fee was quoted to be about £70 an hour.

I'd stay well clear of this lot. In my honest opinion the company is very unprofessional and the whole experience was pretty scarring. It's the way the company is run, so I don't really blame the guys that have to move the stuff.

Fantastic service.

I used simply removals for my recent move withing London. Every team I got I cannot fault. They came one Sunday and packed my 2 bed flat up and took the furniture to storage. I then had another team move the remaining items to my new house (only 2 miles down the road) then finally once work was done to the new place everything was redelivered from storage. Each of the teams were incredibly hardworking and made a very stressful day really easy. They packed everything well (and incredibly quickly) - I have suffered no breakages which I find pretty impressive and they expertly maneuvered furniture around two tight staircases with only a few minor scuffs which is to be expected. Overall I cannot sing their praises enough especially given the very competitive price. Overall i'm very impressed and would definitely use again.

Horrific Experience.

Please do not use this company if you seriously want a stress free removal company. I have regretted paying for packing and unpacking service. it would have been better for me to pack everything, involved friends and hired a van. The workmen labelled the boxes wrongly meaning we had kitchen stuff on one floor and bedroom stuff on another floor (the house has three floors). Damaged dining table, missing wardrobe and bed screws, some items still not delivered, dented stairway walls and will have to repaint parts of the house again. I spoke to a customer service person the day after the move and did not even mention to put in a claim. I have just learnt I had seven days to put in a claim even though not every item has been delivered. There is a disconnect between the workmen and the customer service centre.

Simply Removals - what a joke.

Appalling, terrible, rude, unhelpful, dreadful, shambles, late, failed to turn up, rip off, disgusting level of service..the list goes on where do a I start. Can I give less than 1 star?!

First off they turned up over an hour late. This I can forgive but upon arrival they rammed my leather sofa through a gap too small damaging it against brick work as they refused to take off the second armrest. Upon my wife informing they needed to take it up a flight of stairs they promptly asked if she was joking and then subsequently dumped it on it's side by my front door. Upon being challenged over not only there attitude but the damage done I was told this is not their problem.

Thinking how could things get any worse I was then advised at 8pm of a Fri night that they were unwilling to reassemble any of the furniture that I had been dismantled, a service I had paid for. Again I was told by the incredibly rude removal man, (Florian) for reference, that this was not his problem. Given I had a 8 month old baby with no where to sleep only compounded this further.

The parting retort from the removal team was that they did not give a 'f##k'. Customer service at it's best! Florian then asked what did I expect given the money I had paid. Clearly £1,200+ is considered too small a sum to actually deliver a service a customer pays for.

The company then promised to send another team to rebuilt by furniture, a service I had paid good money for only for them to not turn up at all.

Been chasing, liaising with the company's complaints department for weeks about a refund plus compensation for the damage sustained to my sofa. A department I imagine is run off it's feet given the experience I have had. To say they are making things difficult is an understatement compounded by the fact that not one person who works for the business has even said sorry for the dreadful experience I have had.

USE SIMPLY REMOVALS AT YOUR PERIL.

Simply Removals Excellent **.

I would totally recommend simply removal I found them very focused on the job. I needed to have two sash windows taken out so my large very expensive sofa could fit though they did the job with ease cleaned up after Cristian was marvellous keeping me informed about what was happening very good Service I would highly recommend this company good value for money great service no stress Even my neighbour remarked on how efficient the team were. 5* but I would even have given 10* which is really saying something because I'm bit of a perfectionist and very hard to please so well done simplyRemovals.

Charge me twice.

Small van, two men arrived both moaning I had to much then refused to take my alcohol. Money for the move was taken out of my account four days before the move and again 5 days after the move. Was told it was a clerical error. That's the last thing you need after the upheaval of a move. Lucky for me I check my account balance nearly every day. For most I'm Guessing they wouldn't know for weeks if at all with the stress of a new move and with other things on your mind. I told them by taking out the money a second time it's put me in the red, they didn't seem to care apologised and told me the money will be back in my account with in 5 days, still waiting for the money to go in 4 days later.

Nightmare Move.

The worst move I have ever experienced out of nine. Things missing, broken, no effort made to wrap. Rude staff, insolent attitude, no supervision, communication problems. Now cannot get hold of them to make claim, all emails come back. Calls unanswered. And this was not a cheap move, £2600 for a shamble. Stuff dumped in the drive, no notice of requests, many boxes not marked. Staff paid £30 for 10 hour day. Beware! Over 20 items broken.

1 star is too much! A day late delivering with no contact or information, items lost and £000’s of damage to others - packing service disgraceful. Don’t be fooled by a cheap price or clever advertising as these guys give cowboys a bad name. Shocking and disappointed.

They arrived hour and half early .. I was still packing .. then they had to go to another pick up address and wouldn’t take an extra box saying they didn’t have room and they left to my new home waiting for me for a while .. I called Office stating if they had come on time in the first place they wouldn’t be waiting .. the guys says to me that Office will charge me and he will charge me only £40 and to pay cash luckily didn’t have cash but how shocking didn’t get charged .. don’t use especially if workers are deceiving there employers and not being loyal come on £40 cash and saying to me Office will charge me more !! What a joke he wouldn’t move a box after putting it down when I said this had to go upstairs they were awful sorry but I have to be honest !!

Terrible experience.

On the day of our move the moving van that was sent was much too small, even though the company had visited beforehand to estimate the size needed. The movers refused to contact the company to sort it out so my husband and I had to phone numerous times. This led to an argument with the movers who then started shouting and called my husband 'a joke'. They then left with the full van leaving us with a half packed house and trying to sort out another van. The other van arrived after 7pm. Luckily the people moving into our house were not moving in on the same day. I don't know how we would've coped otherwise. Simply Removals was not helpful and the actual movers were unprofessional and unpleasant. When we started unpacking at the new house we fond that the boxes were all mixed up. I'm not even sure how some items, which were on different floors of the house, ended up in the same box. Also, photo frames and fragile items were not always packed properly. They were just put into boxes with other things without bubble wrap or tissue paper. Thankfully, nothing that we have found so far has been broken. Once we got into the house we just wanted to put the experience behind us and focus on our new home. On Monday this week I called Simply Removals to arrange collection of the moving boxes and they said they would come on Wednesday. Because of the poor service and experience we received before, I rang three times on Wednesday to confirm that the boxes would be collected and was assured that they would be. I hauled all the boxes outside since it was my daughter's birthday and we were planning to be out. Lo and behold, they did not come to collect the boxes. I rang this morning, Thursday, and was told the earliest they could collect them is Sunday. I was very upset and said that the whole experience with the company has been awful and that I would like to file a formal complaint and they said that it wasn't possible because it was more than 7 days after the move. I have never experienced such poor service and such a lack of concern over a customer's experience. This was my 14th house move and Simply Removals is by far the worst movers I have ever used.

Stay Away From This Removal Company.

I used Simply Removals to do a move between two one-bedroom apartments in May. I had confirmed with their customer adviser in two separate telephone conversations and in written note that there is a standard size upright piano included in the move. They assured me their team has a wealth of experience in moving pianos and would do it with care.
Come moving date, a team of two not so strong-built removal men appeared to be completely unaware of the piano being part of the move and refused to move it. The office ended by assigning a second team of two other men to assist the first team. I was made to wait in the empty apartment for almost an hour before the second team turned up to help. The team of 4 men obviously had no experience moving the piano, no tool or cloth was used during the transit. They had a real struggle basically dragging the piano down the flat with brute force. 3 days after the move, they charged me an extra 3.5 hour service (£280) for the travel time and labour of the second team and waiting time of the first team! No invoice was sent to me or communication with me about the extra charge before the payment was made. They refused to refund the unauthorised charge and were useless in resolving the matter. The move cost grew from £156 to £436 (179% increase!) HORRIBLE COMPANY, DO NOT USE THEM!

Avoid this company.

My son made the mistake of using this company to move from a 3-bed flat to a house. He made the arrangement and paid by phone, about £400. When the movers turned up, they refused to move a good deal of the stuff. We had to pay £100 extra over the phone. After this, they refused to remove anything they claimed had come from the garden, even though most of it hadn't. These people are dishonest, unhelpful and rude. There are plenty of alternatives out there. You should avoid this company.

Would not recommend.

When we were getting quotes for our move; it was a medium sized job, which involved pick up at 3 locations in East London (1 of which was just for a sofa bed) and a final delivery point in Surrey, Simply Removals came back with the cheapest quote.

After having used their services, I can see why. Moving day is always stressful and this company made it even worse. I had asked for a delivery start time of 10am. They turned up at 9.15 at the wrong initial collection point. Communication throughout the whole process was poor.

Communication was made difficult by a language barrier, and though the two men worked quickly, they were also careless and I ended up with a damaged cupboard and stand fan. While carrying a sofa bed from the property they lost a bag of screws and bolts, which luckily was found for us by the person living at the property.

There were two men for the job as we requested, the older of the two kept complaining about how heavy items were. He was also very unprofessional in asking one of my friends who was helping with the move if she would be going with them in the van followed by a suggestive smile.

I know that this could be seen as a joke, however it is still very unprofessional behaviour; we were paying for a moving service, not for people helping us to be made to feel uncomfortable.

Communication from the staff booking the job left far to be desired too. There was a rather abrupt staff member named Frankie who called to confirm the job, and there were times I had to chase to get confirmation of payment and job confirmation pdf.

Overall, an unpleasant experience which is a shame as the initial customer service when I was looking for quotes and booking the moving with the company had been good.

They made a tough day a lot worse!

The van was almost 2 hours late. The packing service involved them throwing things in boxes with breakable items not protected and boxes not identified beyond the room they came from scratched on. A difficult day was made all the more stressful by their haphazard approach and in our new property several missing and damaged items have come to light in the weeks after the move but they are accepting no liability whatsoever as it took us over 1 week to contact them. For example, a sofa has grease stains over its back but was placed against a wall so we didn't see this until we came to rearrange the furniture. Really poor service, avoid these cowboys!

Avoid at all costs.

I used Simply Removals who boast that they moved the prime minister but most certainly all their other customers will not get the same service. They damaged my washing machine after the move and refused to do anything about it and in fact inferring that it was my fault. They will do anything to sell to you but beware if you want any damages covered then these guys are DEFINATELY A NO GO!

Horrible customer services responses and I gave them a chance to make good.

Worst experience!!

Don't even think of getting them when moving. They turned up 2hrs late, without enough boxes & a small van! We were moving from a 3 bedroom house & yet they sent a small van so they had to do 2 trips. We had to do most of the packing ourselves even though we'd paid for that service & we had to put the rest of our furniture on the driveway while the new homeowners moved in. Thank goodness it was not a rainy day but after paying so much we expected better service. It was simply unacceptable!!

Use at Your Peril.

We had paid for a full packing and removal service, with storage for 10 ten days. Two men arrived on day before removal to pack up. They said they'd come for midday, they arrived at 2pm. I was informed by one of them that they would start after having lunch. They began work at 2.15pm. I had to leave to pick up my children at 3pm from school. I got back at 3.45pm, they told me they had completed packing. I could see that a lot had been left so asked why they hadn't packed it all, they said the team coming the next day would do the rest. The team arrived the next day at 9am and were extremely annoyed about having to pack, one of the guys showed me the work request on his phone to say that they weren't expected to pack, just load and drive to storage. I had to speak to office to get them to pack. They eventually did this, they then informed us that they had finished. There was a lot of things left on the floor including framed pictures of my children. I asked why they hadn't packed the rest, they claimed it was 'rubbish'. I then got very upset and rand the office again, they rand the removal men and asked them to pack the rest. My husband ended up packing with them to hurry things along as we had a cleaning company waiting. On moving in day the same two arrived to unpack. Our Bosch drill and drill bit set was not in any of the boxes. Also, they had packed potatoes and fruit in the kitchen boxes so had to throw out our kettle and toaster as it had mould growing on it! They had also broken a casserole dish! Honestly not worth the hassle or the money! They won't refund as they claimed I was outside the claim period as it took me 3 weeks to unpack all boxes. I'm disgusted by their response and attitude.

Moving Experience.

I was extremely dissatisfied with this Company. The men who came were in a rush all the time, and did not listen to my requests. They did not bring the two portable 'wardrobes' I had ordered and paid for, and refused to get them for me. They told me to contact Simply Removals myself to sort it out! I tried, but had no success; I phoned but the wardrobes never arrived. They did not stop for either a tea break, or a stop between addresses to allow me time to finish off at the property I was leaving and get to my new property before they arrived. When I asked why they were in such a rush they said they had another job to go to!! They asked me for a cash payment for the job even though I had previously paid in full. Fortunately my daughter was at my new address to supervise the unloading of my belongings. When I arrived with my son they had already unloaded everything and left. When I phoned Customer Services there was always a recorded message, and although I left my details, no-one ever returned my call. In the end I wrote a lengthy letter to them and eventually had an email reply in which basically the men who moved me denied every point I had made. To add insult to injury, they left a Business Card with my daughter before leaving touting for business for another company!

House Removal.

STAY CLEAR OF THESE SHARKS! WORST REMOVAL COMPANY. I am 76 year old cancer patient, had two major surgeries few weeks before, due to my week health condition, I sold my house, needed to vacate my three floor house by 23rd Jan 2019, and simply removal estimator [Marcus]came to check and discuss my removal arrangement, I explained that as I am moving into a smaller flat some of my items will be for long term stora ge and have to be rapped well and placed to the back of storage cabin and ones going to my flat after my surgery to front. My suitcases to be left to very front as I will be travelling to stay to recover with my family in Canada after my surgery family. They insist on payment up front, told me three men are booked for the job and 30 boxes ,rapping material two large luton or two trips and whole removal process will take 5 hours. The arrived at 8.30 not 8 as suggested, only two small men,and small luton van. Nothing was rapper or boxed, things were put in carrier black bin bags and just dumped in storage like pile of rubbish,as they run out of time half my goods were left behind, and they asked for more money to come back and sort the mess they have left behind. I cannot find my suitcases, and their excuse is that only two men were allocated for this job. WHY? Also damaged my car with their truck , and not taking any responsibility for any of their wrong doing. So use good company who will ask for money once job is done, only a cowboy like simply removal will take money upfront as they will just do a bad job only half finish job and ask for more money to finish bad job to make it even more bad.

Two Boxes Went Missing.

The guys were nice but didn't really pay attention or care much about the items. We had packed everything for them and they only had to carry things from the flat to the van. They were leaving things outside of the flat and also near the van, and although my husband and I took turns to look out for the things both inside and outside of the flat, when we got to the new place and unloaded the van, TWO boxes were missing.

We only noticed the next day (there were too many boxes) and when we called them asking if they had found something the customer services was the worst, didn't really care and sent us lots of forms to fill out which never led to anything.

I don't want to point the fingers at the guys who did the move as I think it was more like they left the boxes and the van unattended and someone must have stollen things..I don't know, but what I am sure of is that when I paid a premium to hire a professional company rather than a man & van I was expecting a professional and hassle free move, which was not at all the case.

The two boxes had some home appliances and paintings - which were gifts so I can't buy again :( - and in total I must have lost around 250 pounds!

Bad service best avoid.

After using this company many items missing some stuff broken but the main problem is the removal men do not look legit and are not trustable at all some don't speak english and do not look like they have been checked/vetted. my advise is to stay clear of this outfit as they say 'things go missing' but to the point it is THEFT plain and simple.

So be aware of this and seek a reliable company.

Most stressful move I ever experienced.

Unfortunately I paid to be stressed in this move. They did not pack enough boxes, nor bubble wrap despite having indicated all I had to move. They wanted to charge 7.50 per extra box. The point was I was not medically fit to pack nor lift, and in the end I had to. As well they had massive attitude, barely spoke English and shoved things around with no respect for the belongings. There was damage and they refused to put the furniture where I asked them to put it saying once they had dropped it the couldn't move it. They threatened to go home early and walked out, they yelled at me, and the management was of no use when I brought up all the issues. This clearly is their style, a poorly run business with no concern for your belongings, no customer satisfaction, and surprisingly no knowledge of quantity necessary for packing. Do NOT USE this AWFUL service. They should be called NIGHTMARE REMOVALS!!

Long-distance move from Watford, Hertfordshire to Watford, Hertfordshire

The worse decision I’ve made in 35 years.

Learned my lesson to never use these guys again.

Please take my review seriously. I made the worse decision by not listening to friends and family to use a more local removal service.

The booking already rang alarm bells when their prices were almost half the price of some of the removal company (and believe me, you pay for what you get)

Although ALL my furniture was listed on the quote, the day before my husband rung me and asked me to call this company up to make sure they are taking our piano. I said yes, I have it written confirmation on email already.

After payment you get an email to tell you a window that your removal will arrive which was 12-3. (they do not tell you over the phone prior booking, had I known this I would have changed my mind immediately because I do not want to sit around staring at my phone with low battery for 3 hours and looking out the window like a dog). They called at 3 to say they are going to be an hour because of ‘traffic’ (even though on the day of the booking over the phone to the sales team told me that they have local removal vans everywhere). We are only moving down the road, so I tried to not let it get to me. They arrive by 4. Which I haven’t yet lost it yet but when I saw the removal guys, I felt immediately concerned. 2 young guys (one looks like they were in their teens) with very very little English. I show them around our house and when they saw our piano, they said they won’t be taking that. I explained, I have written confirmation. He insist he will not take it and goes off making plans to carry out the removal. I get on the phone back to their office to explain the situation and I have NEVER received such bad customer service from a arrogant person ever. After an hour over the phone to them my only option was to pay for them to come back with more people another day. They were no way refunding me if I chose not to use their service on the day because they have a 48 hour cancelling policy (even though they are not sticking to their contract we have on paper) or reimbursing me for the piano that is being left behind because it is apparently not their fault and yes.. their best reason for this to me is the best line they could throw at me.. ‘that I confirmed the removal service’ HAHA! Oh wait, they also said if I want the piano moved then I can help them.. I am 5’1 at 7 and a half stones this is why I paid you to do it. Foul! So now I have to arrange another removal service on Monday for our other things left behind. It’s clear these guys were overworked by this nasty company with very little pay. Use them for cheap labour. I actually felt sorry for them given the situation I was left in and offer them drinks and tipped them in the end as I am fully aware how much this nasty company pays them. We did not finish till 8pm and they have been working since 6am. So they were desperate to go home, leaving the furniture that had to be taken apart..everywhere in our new house. They’ve even taken the bolts to the furniture so we cannot put it together and in all honesty.. I should be crying but I won’t let this unfair, dishonest, money grabbing, sleeping well at night human beings get me down.
STAY AWAY AT ALL COST! Save your hair and keep your stress levels down and go to a local removal service who visits your property for a quote.

Long-distance move from Woking, Surrey to Oxford, Oxfordshire

BIG mistake using Simply Removals.

STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY. I wouldn't even give them 1 star. The service is really bad, I got a quote from them spoke to Liam on the phone and told him how much stuff I had, he said they could fit everything into a Luton van. Simpley Removals were not the cheapest quote I got they were in the middle so I went with them. BIG mistake, came the day of the move they were an hour and half late, then the guys that we're moving me informed me that not everything would fit in the van! Which I asked them why as there was plenty of space in the van they explained to me they can not go over the metal bar that runs around the middle of the van! Which my response was Why? Which they said if they did that then my belongings wouldn't be safe and they wouldn't be able to tie anything back (which they didn't do anyway). So I called Liam up and he said that what they were saying was correct and then asked him why this wasn't explained to me to start off with and he became very rude and the customer service went out the window.I asked to speak to his manager and he said he was the manager.

Do not use this company.

Do not use this company. I used them for a simple one bed house move in Aug 2019 and it was a disaster from start to finish. I was given an estimate time of between 1-4 in advance and told I would get a phone call on the morning with a more specific update. I received no calls and had to chase 3 times to be given a time of 3.30pm. At 4pm no one had turned up and I had received no call so chased again to be told they would arrive at 5.30pm. This was cutting it really fine with the storage company close times where my boxes were going to. They turned up and spoke very broken English but were annoyed about the amount of boxes even though I had listed everything very clearly when getting quote. They kept telling me how tired they were which I did sympathise with as they are obviously being worked to the bone. They then said my wardrobe was too big, I explained that I had told the company this in advance and asked for advice and they said it would be fine, the removal man very snappily said back well they aren’t here ok. I said ok just leave it and do everything else. Next thing I know he is trying to get it down the stairs and broke the top of it. I was so tired and beyond care by then (plus a little intimidated) I didn’t make a fuss as I just wanted to get out. Finally we got everything out the house and to the storage unit - they were still complaining and were very annoyed it had to go to the second floor. As I said I do feel sorry for them as they clearly get paid pittance and work very hard but there was absolutely no care in looking after my items, poor communication from both them and the office and all in all it was a very stressful experience.
