Simply Removals

In my opinion, this company is big on sales patter and very short on professionalism, honesty and integrity. I would never recommend them and certainly never use them again. They sent a van half the size of the one I booked with no apology or explanation. Some of my possessions had to be left on the front drive until I could collect them the next day (what was left of them) and other, more treasured possessions were broken on arrival. I have been frustrated and frankly amazed at the cavalier after-sales care which, at best is poor and at worst knowingly dishonest. I have found the whole experience very upsetting. I think it says something about a company when they offer you £25 compensation on condition that I don't write a bad review or say anything derogatory!

I'm not sure I have the words to describe how appalling this company is. I booked them weeks ago for a move of a one bedroom apartment in Fulham to another one bedroom apartment in Fulham. Twice last week I rang to confirm that the move could go aherad despite the London bike race on today. I was assured both times that the operations department had checked and that the bike race wouldn't be a prooblem and the move could go ahead as planned.  This morning, 3o minutes after the pack was meant to start, I phoned the office to find out where the men were. The man in the offiuce said that he couldn't get through to the men(?) but that they were a few streets away. 30 minutes later, one of the men phoned to say that all the streets were closed and what did I think they should do. I phoned the office again and the man there told me that the men were caught up in the race and couldn't get through and would try and sort something out an get back to me.  One hour later, there had been no call, so I phoned the office for a third time. Their only suggestion was that the men would walk to my apartment (in the pouring rain) with the packing equipment and pack and then come back and move later on. The man couldn't give me a time or a commitment that the move would happen today at all.  I did some research and found out that the roads wouldn't be opened again until 8.30 pm that night - too late to move. I rang to cancel the move as at this point, I had lost all confidence in the company. The man became very agressive and told me that they would charge me the full amount even though they were unable to come and do the job for which they had been booked.  I wish I had read the reviews on line before booking this company. There are many reviews about poor standards and that is certainly my impression of the company. .

Stroppy staff lazy, also stole valuable items from my belongings after long battle with police and company they still managed to get away with it. Please double check what terms are in the contract before you sign. They are not be trusted and would not recommend this company to anyone, all staff where Eastern European with bad attitude.

Might be cheap but they are liars and thieves pay the extra with professional company.

I obtained quotes over the internet and then talked on the phone to Simply Removals to provide more details.  I explained the contents of the house and that there would need to be some furniture dismantled.  I followed this up with an inventory list and again confirmed that items needed dismantling.  the day before the move I rang to again confirm that they would have to dismantle furniture.  they claimed to know nothing about it (and the salesman I had been emailing was not in) despite the fact that they had answered my email with the inventory listing.  So they then demanded extra money from me or they would not dismantle anything.  I didn't have a choice as the move was the next day.  they told me to discuss it with customer services after the move.
When they turned up the movers knew nothing about dismantling the furniture.
They said I had too much stuff for their van - despite me giving a list of contents and discussing what I had.  They did not bring any proper tools with them to dismantle the beds and wardrobe so I had to borrow a drill.  I had asked for a couple of large boxes to be able to load up all the last minute bits and pieces that wouldn't go in boxes.  they brought them but didn't take them out before they loaded my stuff in!
It took the movers a long time to unpack as they kept asking where everything went, despite the boxes and furniture all being labelled.  my friends had to dismantle one of the wardrobes and then unload the boxes as it took too long.   They then told me I would have to pay extra as it took too long!
I emailed customer services to complain about being overcharged.  They said they would get back to me.  I have had no response and today they have now charged me  a further £122  - 6 weeks after the move.
I would not recommend them.  They added so much stress to the day.

I would never recommend them to anyone.  They charged us twice, luckily my husband checked his online account and saw that and asked them to refund the money.  Also, their drivers parked their vehicle outside our flat without asking us and were issued a parking ticket and they took that money out from our account without notification. Horrible service, they damaged our  dinning table as well.  We gave £60 as tip to the employees, now we repent why we did that.  Awful service!!

I was very pleased with the whole service from simply removals -from booking the service to the move itself .The removal men turned up on time .They were friendly and polite and very quickly and efficiently moved my stuff .I lived on a first floor flat and am used to moans and groans from delivery men but nothing was a problem for these 2 professional men . There were no breakages and nothing was damaged .In all the move went very well and this was mainly due to the efficiency of simply removals.

Service cost: £498

Simply removals were selected on their attentiveness and price to move us from East London to Stowmarket. The service included a day of packing and specific information was given about the access and lorry size restrictions. An assessor visited and saw all their was to move.

The packing team leader did moan on arrival that there was too much for them to manage but after lunch the difficulties seemed not to be relevant any longer. The packing was done and the team were cheerful and helpful. The moving team arrived on time but moaned about the amount of stuff and that there wouldn't be enough manpower or space in the lorry and van. The team did work hard and quickly in the morning, we were feeling mostly successful although they had forgotten the television sets. These were grabbed, wrapped in a floor rug and put in a pile at the back of the truck - very rushed and not carefully.

On arrival at the new property, we were told that the lorry was too big to get to the house and when we didn't agree to let them break down a fence or drive onto the lawn, the atmosphere changed. They had to ferry using the smaller vehicle and the team just switched to aggrieved and the experience became negative. Boxes and belongings were taken into any and every room in the house at top speed and items clearly meant for inside the house were left in a massive pile along with heavy outdoor equipment in the cart lodge. Some items were broken, some items were dirtied. Because no mattress bags were used as promised, a mattress that was dropped or dragged got mud along the bottom of it.

Of the items to be re-assembled, one was left completely and a bed was put together without using all the parts, although all the parts were available (they had disassembled it themselves and taped the parts to the bed they had not put back together). The result was that although it appeared to be fine with the mattress on it, when it was occupied late that night it collapsed, tearing the headboard so that it couldn't be corrected. First night in a lovely new home spent sleeping on a mattress in the living room - not ideal! I would have put it together myself the next day if I could but it is ruined - there's nothing strong to attach the screws to anymore. We appreciate that is was a long day for them - it was for us too and we weren't expecting to have to sleep on the floor or move a significant number of items into the house ourselves the next day.

I have fed this back to Simply Removals customer services both by telephone and by email but they have made no attempt to get in touch. They have had sufficient time to get back to us to discuss, but they have been paid (in advance, that's the agreement) so it appears that's all they are interested in.

I get the impression that Simply Removals use agency teams sub contracted on a 'job and finish' basis. This means they can be cheap on price but there is not a great deal of communication or control over them on the day and once they've left, that's it; no aftercare.

Unprofessional, dishonest and irresponsible. I will never use this company ever again and I would advise anyone who does not want their blood pressure to go up to avoid them. I booked them 4 weeks in advance to arrive between 7-9am. At 830am, they phoned to say the van booked for my removal has broken down without giving me any further information on replacement or ETA. I have phoned them again and again without any success, was told they have to wait for another job to finish before they come to mine. Still waiting, it is 3pm and no news.
They took the full payment in advance which I wad suspicious of. I have never seen such unprofessionalism. I phoned their customer service and they do not reply either. They have not offered to compensate for their failure and do not feel responsible for what happened.

Used Simply removals for my move from London to Essex in December last year.
Was recommended by two people I know. However they had not used them for packing, which I did.
Only to find out that all my kids Christmas and birthday toys were missing as well as gifts for my daughter's 5th birthday party. They also stole our personalized wrapping paper. Additional to that was a long list of items including my son's. New boots, perfume gift from my husband, my picnic basket, drill kit, my kids animal hats, drinking cups from Butlins, the list goes on. All the items were brand new!! They even left the receipts and the carrier bags behind!!
The only way they could have stollen the items was that they packed a box and labelled it for the movers!! So they were all in it together. Was a very upsetting time for me.
Called the office to complain, they said, 'are you not sure you left it somewhere else?' Told me I was too late to claim anything as I had gone past the 7 days.

I can’t not tell you the nightmare we had with this company from the day of our removal day. We requested a packing service the day before, the 2 men finished very quickly and I assumed they were very fast workers, fast but clearly not careful! they put everything in carelessly and I noticed this when I had unpacked the items. I then discovered on the day of the move, they should have dismantled the TV, table, bed etc.. and they never. On the removal day simply should have arrived at 9am and they turned up at 9.40am. After just working 30min they asked if they could have a break, which I assumed they meant a 5 min break, they disappeared for 30 min leaving my items in the van unattended and open while they went for breakfast! They sent a small van to fill up a 3 bedroom property and just two men! the house needed at least 3/4 workers and bigger lorry to fit all our items. When I called Simply Removals and complained they said they would speak with operations dept and get back to me and no one did! I rang back again (14p a min on a mobile which I shouldn’t be calling in the first place if they did their job correctly) I spoke to someone call Lee who said he would get back to me and again didn’t. I then telephone and at which I had enough by this point and finally spoke to Kieran who was no help at all. He said it was my fault that I never specified in more detail the property, I explained he needed to go back and listen to my conversation about what I had requested and he would hear what was agreed. Well instead of helping and sending more staff or another van. They advised that I would need to do two trips! which is appalling and I would have to pay extra for this service around £50 per hour. What should have been an easy move turned in to a complete nightmare! and 9 long hours.  My parents are 67 and 74 they should not have to deal with this at all why they have the name simply is beyond me as they cannot keep up their name.  The guys doing the removal were not to blame they were only doing what they were told and the offices are to blame. Because of Simply’s non support it led to myself (daughter) and my 67 year old mum trying to pack items that the other packers (which I paid for the extra service the day before) did not do the day before moving! and because simply would not bring more staff I was doing what I paid them to do because all I wanted was to get my parents in to their new home that day not next week! When we arrived at the new home the men had to unload, but because it was two of them and we still had to do the second run (as no extra lorry was provided) Myself (daughter) mother (67) and my husband who was waiting at the new house had to help unload the lorry with them so we could get back to the house to put more stuff back on!  It is the worst experience of my life and I felt upset for my parents who are retired and needed a simple removal but got a complete nightmare.  I wouldn’t recommend this company to anyone please do not book them you will be disappointed .

I recently moved from SE1 to SW1V with simply removals and I can not begin to express how brilliant my move went. From getting our quotation to moving our belongings I can't fault Simply Removals. The men arrived promptly on our removal day and worked efficiently to get us moved to our new home. The two guys that came were very polite and made what should have been a very stressful day a joy!

I can't thank the removals team enough and also a gentleman named Lee in the office who was very professional throughout booking our removal.

I would recommend Simply Removals to anyone who wants a great service at an affordable price.

I used Simply Removals to undergo my move. Robin came out to survey my house, he was very pleasant, went through in detail what I needed and what they could do for me. It was my first move so I didn't know where to start!! The quote I received was very competitive so it was a no brainer to go with them. On the day of the move Chris and his crew worked like machines. They where very nice, always smiling and didn't stop once! They wouldn't let me do a thing. They moved my goods with care and somehow they maneuvered my sofa into a narrow doorway of my new home without damaging a thing. I am really pleased I moved with Simply Removals, I have been told that moving can be the most stressful day you can have. I did not feel stressed once. I can't thank the team enough.

Simply Removals is not a company you should use to help you move!!The Salesmen lied by telling us the removal drivers were local and knew where they were picking up and delivering. They were not local - as they turned up 30 mins late (the jouney to our house took 3 hours, the driver complained, because of traffic) They packed everything up with no issues and drove down to our new house. They told us they had to take apart 2 of our items, otherwise they would not be able to get them upsatirs. We said that was fine. When they completed the move, I was impressed because they seemed very helpful and friendly. However, a week or so later, after checking through our account we found that Simply Removals had taken an additional £206 out of our account. After questioning this they told us this was due to the distance from the van to our new house and the fact they had to dismantle a couple of our items. They did not mention that it would end up costing us £206 to do this - otherwise we would have done it ourselves.We have tried to complain and explain our case but Simply Removals are ignoring us saying the drivers told us there would be an extra charge of £206.I would STRONGLY recommend you using one of the other removal companies.

Despite sending this company several quotes including the cubic foot of the job from other reputable removal companise such as Pickfords etc this company turned up on the morning at 8am with a van that was too small. After contacting the company they advised that a second van would be with us by 09.30. The second van eventually turned up at 6.30pm. Our buyers were most annoyed at the delay and insisted that our belongings be removed from the property at 4pm. I could go on and on about the total incompetence of this company but I'll keep it short. I made several calls to this company prior to the removal date and mentioned that I had read reviews of customers having a problem whereby the vehicle sent was too small and this was the one thing I wanted to avoid. My house was a 3 bed semi and not a large one at that and to be told on removal day that my contents were the equivilant to a 5 bed house left me gobsmacked. The annoying thing was that one of bedrooms was completely empty and the second bedroom only contained a double bed so I'm not sure how we had as much as a 5 bed house. The guys who did the job were first class, very helpful and polite and I can't fault them but the company sucks big time. I can't say too much because I don't want to drop the removal guys in it but it was clear that this was a common problem and they were very used to dealing with irate customers upset at the way they were treated by the company. The price was cheap but you get what you pay for. Do yourself a favour and avoid these cowboys like the plague. Their bif boast is that they moved David Cameron in to Number 10 but I can guarantee that he was not treated the same way as they treat most of their customers.

This is the first time I have ever written a review online but feel that I need to let other people know about the disgraceful service we experienced on moving day.

The turned up late and with a van that could only fit 2/3 of our stuff in so had to do another trip, which they charged us for. When I spoke to customer services they were so rude to me, accused me of lying and even lost their temper with me.

They did not ask the correct questions on the time of booking to assess how much stuff we needed, not even to ask how many bedrooms my house had. The removal staff were not experienced enough and had the attitude that nothing could be done as opposed to taking the stress out of the move- everything seemed to a problem and we had to help get things like the mattress up the stairs and garden furniture into the garden.

They are not exactly a cheap option but the service was similar to just hiring a man with a van- they wrapped nothing and was all together very sloppy. The staff seemed over worked and their English was not good at all.

Please use another company as this was all together a highly stressful experience on a day that is stressful enough; which actually ended up costing quite a lot of money!

Several items stolen and the company refuse to accept responsibility and worse. This was the third time we have used Simply Removals in two years. Previously they had been ok and good value but on this occasion numerous items have been stolen. I first noticed a missing bottle of wine but then the expensive items - two fishing rods and a cordless drill. As a loyal customer I had expected some sort of customer service. Instead they have simply said that the team deny taking anything and have refused to even send me a claim form. The customer service has been non existent and the manner in which I've been treated has left me disgusted that any company should be permitted to treat customers in this way. I eventually called the police, something I wish I had done earlier.

I contacted five or six removal companies for our move from Surbiton to Worcester and Simply Removals gave the best quote and seemed the most professional from first impressions - how wrong was I! Firstly they turned up two hours late and we had to call customer services to find out where they were as no one bothered to let us know. They were supposed to bring two complimentary wardrobe boxes and two additional ones that we were to pay for - but they only turned up with one box, so we had to put clothes into regular boxes to move them. Then when they delivered our furniture and belongings there was a scratch down the middle of my desk. More a gouge than a scratch. The delivery men claimed they hadn't done it but the desk was perfect before they moved it. I contacted customer services and was told to email them which I did. They never replied and it has now been over a month. I'll never use this company again and I hope you don't either.

I used Simply Removals once before and the service was acceptable. This time however they turned up late with a van that was half the size it should have been and complained thoughout that there was too much to move and it was too heavy. They eventually crammed everything into the van and as a consequence trashed a couple of things, including a bookcase which they broke apart to get into the van. This bookcase is now useless as it wasn't meant to be dismantled in the first place. Two emails and a phone call have been ignored about an insurance claim, so it's off to the small claims court.
