St Albans Removals

We used St Albans Removals company for our house move. We found them to be very efficient, friendly helpful and accomodating. They were very honest, helpful and hard working throughout the whole process. The estimation process was straight forward and satisfactory. We were provided with the necessary boxes in advance thus eliviating the pressure of last minute packing. The price for the removal from St Albans to South Kent was very reasonable considering the distance tarvelled. The employees were at our house at the agreed time. We did not have to instruct them what to do and how as they were very efficient and professional in their work. All our property arrived intact without any damage considering that we had a lot of fragile items. I would use this company again and would recommend them to others.

Alfie and his team were punctual, friendly, helpful and extremely hard-working. They were clearly very experienced and methodical, which is great on a stressful moving day. The team were very patient and flexible with us, and understood our need to be out of the old property by a particular time. Subsequently, they worked extremely quickly. Our quote for the job was very competitive, particularly during a week that we learnt was one of the busiest periods to move house.

This company would have actually got 3 stars if the guys hadn't pestered me by text message 3 times in about a week to leave a review. Only just now have the time so here it is! They were 45 minutes late, but lucky for them we hadn't actually finished packing yet, so I won't hold that against them. A quote was done over the phone, admittedly I underestimated the amount of stuff we had, but surely that's a fairly common occurrence? (The question was asked: "how many boxes do you have?" To which I replied "how big is a box?" A straight answer there came none.) Upon arriving at the house the boss wasn't happy about the amount of stuff there actually was, but again was evasive as to the implications. I asked if two trips would be required, he said probably not, just the amount of extra time required is the issue. On the phone I'm 99% sure that the price he gave he said was a fixed price for the day. Eventually however, we ended up paying him 50% extra (he initially tried to charge us double) and everything fitted in the Luton van with room to spare. Our house was on an awkward location almost directly on a pelican crossing. They parked on the zigzag lines initially (there was no alternative at the time) until the parking inspectors showed up. It escalated quickly between both parties and the removal guys were shouting and swearing at inspectors and it looked for a minute it might come to blows. Hence the "poor" rating for professionalism! However it wasn't their fault our house was in an inaccessible location which is probably why we caved in and paid extra. On the other hand nothing got broken or went missing so it was a positive experience in that regard. So I wouldn't necessarily tell you to steer clear of these guys, but before you take them on I would recommend that the boss visits your house before the move to see for himself how much stuff you have and secondly, get the quote in writing clearly stating the terms of the quote (ie one trip/two trips/whole day/ half day etc.

We moved about 1.5 miles across St Albans (though the location options in this form will only let me choose Luton, so ignore that), from a 2-bed terrace.
We used Old London following a friend’s recommendation and were very impressed.
Ashley came round a few days prior to the move date to firm up an online quote, and delivered some boxes for us to get started with valuables / delicates etc., before coming round again the day before the move to pack up 90% of the house - efficient, methodical, and no scrimping on protective wrapping! He came back the next morning with a few colleagues to finish the packing and load the van - we were out with a couple of hours to spare (useful for the final clean).
The unload took no more than an hour, with all boxes and furniture sent to their designated rooms / shed.
Very happy with Ashley and Old London, and would not hesitate to recommend them to others.

Really lovely guys who worked so hard to get the job done .
Everything was packed and wrapped really well .
The job was underestimated but we realised this and came to a fair price . 8 lorry loads later we finally made it into our new place .

They really worked so hard and were really pleasant to deal with.
Plenty of boxes provided for packing and prompt pick up of these once I had unpacked .

Cowboys! Arrived almost 2 hours late, and that was the best part of our experience with this company! Unwrapped photo frames in with cd's, kitchen items in with living room ornaments. Didn't bring a number of boxes we asked for so ended up using carrier and dustbin bags. Scuffed out leather sofa, our bed was filthy having been dragged along the floor outside and not wrapped. Threatened to empty out the van and leave our stuff on our drive when we commented about the state of the bed! Constantly on the phone. Hate to leave negative feedback but really not happy.

These guys are brilliant. We were left in a really difficult position where we had to move within the day. These guys came out to us within the hour and shifted everything to our new place. They were very cheery and jolly and I can only praise them for helping us out of our difficult situation.

Our move happened during some really heavy rain and strong winds, but these guys never said a bad word.

We moved within St Albans, not London, but the selection for this review does not contain St Albans.

I would definitely recommend them to anyone!

St Albans removals helped us move house from St. Albans to Welwyn garden city.
Alfie came round to quote the very same day I enquired and was very flexible on final dates as we could not yet confirm.
On the day they arrived promptly. All of the guys were extremely polite and worked very hard all day (Especially considering the number of stairs involved!). Everything arrived in perfect condition and they made sure everything was where we wanted it before finishing. .

Alfie and the whole team were very helpful and efficient.  They worked hard and were very good value.  We had to remove a lot of stuff and they were really pleasant and good natured throughout.  Removal is a stessful time but St Albans Removals made it much less so.   Our attic was really full of all sorts of things and quite a hard thing to remove but they did it really well.   The whole team were really nice guys and good fun.  They removed the piano which was really heavy, lots of delicate things and paintings all without a single breakage.  They really were first class. They really seemed to understand how difficult it is to move house and couldn't do enough to help.  We were really grateful to have found them.

Alfie and his team did an excellent job of moving our furniture to our new house. The team arrived promptly, were polite and courteous and very efficient at clearing the house and loading the van. They paid particular attention and took care with precious/delicate items ensuring no damage was done in moving or transit (indeed, there were no breakages). Likewise at the other end the team did a great job of unloading, again taking care at all times. Customer service was excellent and I'd definitely recommend St Albans Removals.  .

We used St. Albans remorals to move my mum from her house to a retirement flat, both in St Albans.  Four men arrived promptly at 0830, and set about packing the glass china and valuable items, quickly carefully and efficiently.  They then loaded the larger furniture items, and we left the house at 1130. By 1430 all was safely unloaded at the new location, with no damage or breakages whatsoever.  The movers were courteous and friendly throughout, altogether a very good experience.

Alfie and his team of two arrived on time at our house (actually in St Albans, not London - but menu was limited!) and quickly got about moving our furniture and boxes. Even though there was considerably more items than I had thought, they were able to move the extra pieces without fuss (for an agreed additional payment). 
They unloaded quickly and easily and even managed to get our beast of a sofa-bed into the new house (Welwyn Garden City). 
The team were polite, friendly and accommodating. Definitely recommend their services.

Alfie and team provided exceptional service, even though it was the hottest day of the year so far!
Arrived on time, couldn't do more to help, and provided a stress free move, at a fantastic price. Having to juggle two small children, they made the move manageable and smooth.
Boxes were provided in good time, and furniture was dismantled and erected hassle free! The team were extremely conscientious and took great care of each piece of furniture- no damage what so ever!
Will certainly use St Albans Removals again in the near future, highly recommended!

I have a two phase move and these guys are handling both.  The first stage was from rental property to a storage facility.  Would highly recommend this company for your house move(s).  Alfie and his team are an absolute delight to deal with. They were brilliant - on time, reliable, professional, courteous and handled items with real care. I really can’t recommend them highly enough – I never thought that moving could be stress free and enjoyable but these guys really did all they could to ensure that this was the case. They even packed the furniture safely and securely into the storage unit (which took some skill as lots of large furniture items). They did it all within half a day. Also really well priced. I have absolutely no concerns about phase 2 of the move as I know it will all be handled brilliantly. Use these guys – you won’t regret it.

Alfie and the team at St Albans Removals were helpful and friendly in their removal and storage as I moved temporarily to another house while I had an extension built. They stored a quantity of goods while in my temporary house for four months, promptly delivering them back again when required.   Another important part was the physical act of moving goods from house to house during the extension, which the team carried out safely and with a positive ‘can do’ attitude. It was not just about heavy lifting; they also dismantled and reassembled items like bunk beds and dining room tables.   Alfie the boss is very friendly and keen to be flexible to suit your needs. He is experienced and knows the removal business very well, which is important as you want someone who is reliable and knowledgeable about what is needed. His proactive style helps make what can be a stressful situation as hassle free as possible!

We thought they were a fantastic Removal company, they were very professional but were also relaxed which was well needed as moving can be stressful. They were able to also get our large sofa down the narrow corridor in our new home which was great as this had been a concern for us. They were really helpful and flexible,. They were on time and worked efficiently so we were able to move into our new home within a few hours.  We would definately use them again and would recommend them! .
