UK Removal Company - avoid!

This company gave us a very competitive quote and seemed professional when they came around to review the amount of possessions we had. We should have known that their quote - around 300 pounds below the nearest BAR member was too good to be true. Things went downhill quickly from here. The packing materials were late. We had to chase the company. They were not sure what time they would arrive on the Friday - anytime between 4 and 7pm. After our calling them at 7.15 we were told they would arrive in the next 30 minutes. When they did they parked in a car club bay (as opposed to where we had arranged and instructed that morning - on the pavement) and consequently got a ticket. The workers were nice guys, but had been working all day and were understandably miffed that they had only been told about our job 15 minutes earlier. Our possessions were loaded up relatively quickly and efficiently, but we were disconcerted that the removers clearly had no idea how long their journey the next day (to Kendal, Cumbria) was going to take them. We had been informed at the time of our quote that they would arrive in Kendal on the Saturday at around 12 Midday. We therefore made sure we were there at 11 to collect the keys. We then had to wait, our only communication with the company being at our instigation, until 7.30pm for them to arrive (over 7 hours late). At this point they began to unload, until it became apparent that we would not pay for the parking ticket they had incurred the previous day. They claimed that we had to under their terms and conditions. I checked these, and asked a lawyer friend to do the same. Their advice was not to pay as we had arranged parking and they had not followed our instructions. The company boss then phoned up and began to grow aggressive - he told his workers to stop unloading until we had paid the fine, also saying that he would charge us an extra 120 pounds per hour of waiting time (caused by his not wanting to honour his contact). I then had to threaten to call the police as this is illegal and blackmail. The guys doing the moving eventually backed down, unloaded the van and agreed to pay the fine themselves as they could see the injustice in the situation, but the boss would not - another employee phoned back and threatened us with the small claims court. Obviously this was a hugely stressful experience for us - and the removers told us that the boss regularly tries to charge waiting time and add other charges on to his quotes. Steer well clear.

A Smooth Removal.

I had an excellent experience with UK Removals, they explained the process from start to finish and there was no unexpected surprises.
The removal men were experienced packers and ensured that our delicate furniture was packed with care.
The removal men were friendly and very helpful in their approach.
I was very happy with the service received and I believe the price was also very reasonable.

A Smooth Removal.

I choose the UK removal Company after a not so good experience with another removal company.  They were professional with their approach, the Regional Manager explained everything step by step and there was no surprises on the day. The men were on time and they took special care to ensure that fragile items were wrapped carefully to prevent damage. The men were very pleasant and helpful in their approach. I was happy that everything went smoothly and that there were no unexpected surprises. I woud be happy to use them again and would feel comfortable to recommend them to friends or family.

Review of our UK Removal Company Experience.

Communication with UK Removal Company was good at all times, and were patient when our move date was postponed. On the day the removoval men, Simon and Levi, turned up in good time and were friendly, professional and extremely efficient and got us packed in no time at all. When we got to our destination, Simon and Levi arrived before us and then proceeded to unpack us as quickly and efficiently as before. The removal men are a credit to the company, and made our moving experience a friendly and professional one.

Shabby.

From the "bodge it and scarper" end of the market.

They were not the cheapest of my 5 quotes, but in hindsight I'm pretty sure the cheapest couldn't have offered a worse service.

Their errors, failures and simply shabby behavior went as follows:

1 - Delivery guys couldn't find our apartment on two separate deliveries of packing material (recycled boxes, a hand full of tissue sheets and 3 roles of economy packing tape.
2 - Turned up 4 hours late on the Friday night to do the preliminary collection - with half the number of guys promised.
3 - Turned up 2 and a half hours late on the Saturday morning, with no one answering any of their phones to confirm what had happened to the van.
4 - Half way through the Friday night pick-up they insisted I pay in full before they go any further (the delivery boys put me on to an angry manager - who demanded payment up front for any deliveries beyond the M25 - no mention of that clause on any paperwork).
5 - Broke a mirror worth £130, but wouldn't pay for it as it was below the £250 excess (check the small print)
6 - Didn't have the proper equipment to dis-assemble furniture (part of their quotation so you'd have thought they'd give their guys the tools to do the job)
7 - They bodged the re-assembly of the furniture - wrong doors hung on the wrong cupboards, furniture damaged with random nail holes throughout the cupboard.
8 - Holes gouged out of the walls when moving furniture in to the new property.
9 - The sofa was allowed to get wet in the van (and is now stained)
10 - Used the toilet but left a disgusting mess behind.
11 - Failed to respond to these complaints for two weeks after the move (despite numerous calls and emails).

Don't ever contemplate using the UK Removal Company - they are a shabby, indifferent, nasty little operation.

Went above and beyond.

I ended up a difficult situation with my incoming tenants and I had already left the property and driven down to my new home. Even though this was nothing to do with UK Removals, the sales rep Vee helped me manage everything through by staying around on-site and coordinating cleaners and my tenants. She ws a life-saver on the day. Re the move, everything arrived in good condition and the removal guys were really freiendly and quick.

Worst removal company.

Do Not use this Company UK Removals The day was a disaster from start to finish, the crew turned up at 2.30pm when my paperwork stated 10-11am start? When the men turned up there was two guys who could clearly see that the job was bigger than expected so the driver went to pick more men up. another couple of guys came in to help and they were very polite, there was a number of small items broken and I totally understand that accidents can happen, but this was to be the case for the rest of the day. We finished the move at 9.30pm at night it was absolutely ridiculous the van hadn't been packed properly so my items were loaded on and off the van numerous times. When the job finished I was approached by one of the removal men who was very apologetic he stated that the other guys had left as they were to nervous to explain to me that my solid oak cabinet had been broken into pieces, I have had this item of furniture for about 10 years it is extremely solid, I also had my sons leather bed ripped and I had paid for the shrink wrap and covering of certain items this never happened it wasn't even covered with a blanket. I have since had a carpenter mend the cabinet so at least something was salvageable, the worst thing was the next day when I was discarding my own rubbish in the flats communal bin shed, I found a box with my Kitchen aid glass jug smashed to pieces inside ,nobody had even bothered to explain that the item had been smashed to pieces the men just threw it in bin shed and hoped I didn't find out. This is absolutely appalling service the company also pride themselves on customer service, I have written to the company on a number of occasions and I haven't even been sent an apology or a reply, So I will now be writing to the ombudsman in respect to the issues with this company and applying to court in order to claim back off the insurance as the company have not even replied to my letters or emails. Totally unprofessional I will never use this company again and will be making sure all friends family and colleagues never do either.

Great experience.

We had a great experience with this removal company. The entire move was quick and stress free despite our lack of preparation. The guys were punctual, professional and polite. The removal van had ample space to be filled and easily catered to our needs. I would definitely recommend this company for anyone looking for a well priced and easy move, whether it be last minute or planned in good time. All boxes were packed appropriately, wood and mahogany covered to reduce risk of scratching and/or water damage. Vee's co-ordination was superb; she kept us in the loop and ensured us the move would go smoothly - which it did.
The larger items such as sofas, dining tables, speakers and our piano were moved swiftly and with ease. The whole move was wrapped up by the afternoon and before we knew it we were able to enjoy living in our new home. There were no damages recorded to any of our items and everything is accounted for. I would use these guys for a move again without a second thought. 5 Stars. Costs £750.

Long-distance move from London, Greater London to Chelmsford, Essex

My Postive Move.

After an exhaustive search for a moving company I decided to choose UK Removal Company to locate me to Chelmsford despite their mixed reviews. From the initial first phone call they were direct and accommodating and arranged a representative to attend the property to gain an inventory of contents.  Vee was friendly and professional and gave me immediate impression that she wanted our business . Vee wanted us to have a positive experience and reassured that there had been a change in staff as I quizzed her on the negative reviews lately.  She emphasised the importance of returning back insurance paperwork and how it can invalidate your claim. I told her that I was debating whether to use the company due to the reviews and she explained that some were spoofs which are being dealt with their legal team, as not actual clients their moved.
As the removal date came close, the company provided me with full services such as disassembling/assembling furniture and wrapping and packing the day before to ensure we kept with the departure times. On the day of the move 4 uniformed movers showed up on time, with two trucks, they were very courteous and made this experience very pleasant. They were equipped with blankets, straps and a clothes rail for my hanging clothes. However I was taken back as I was expecting a lorry however the two vehicles worked better as we had parking restrictions and could not allocate direct parking outside. As one pulled out, the other in which was great as it was raining. A good observation from Vee! In summary, I was very pleased with the overall moving experience and would recommend this company to anyone without hesitation. The movers were very professional and experienced at what they did and kept in touch during the move with updates of traffic and arrival time. I am happy I gave this company a second chance to redeem their worth!
Thanks to all the team for your hard work and putting up with my niggles.

Move from London to Wales.

The initial meeting with the rep (Vee) went well and was very professional. The job was to move furniture from a 3 bedroom flat in London to a 3 bedroom house in North Wales (300 mile journey).  I had been in contact with Vee prior to the moving day and had agreed on a pick up time of 10am on Friday. Everything has been dismantled and the company had to load the items to the truck, deliver them to the address in Wales and unload the items. The removal had been paid in full prior to the moving day. At 10:30am (moving day) I called Vee to see where they were and was told that the removal guys had been booked between 11am-11.30am. After midday I called agai and was put in touch with Jay the driver- who informed me of issues with the truck and the need to pick up a replacement truck. Prior to this I was not informed of any issues or reasons for delay. I was told by Vee that she would find out what was going on and she would call me back. The call never came. After waiting hours and after numerous calls to Jay to find out where the truck was and what was happening they turned up at 3pm. However I was then informed by Jay that the truck they had turned up in was not the truck that would be used to move my items and that he still needed to go and pick it up. He left 2 removal men at the flat with the instructions to bring all the items to be moed out onto the street. There was a chance of rain and at one point it began spitting. With all my items out in the street and further calls to find out where the truck was, Jay and the remaining removal man turned up at 7pm to load the items onto the truck. As I had arranged to move my items for the weekend only (work commitments) and had to be back in London the Sunday, there was no option but to proceed with the move. I do not think they understood that the drive to Wales would be a 6/7 hour drive. At the other end the truck turned up at 2am (Saturday) and proceeded to unload the furniture. They had issues getting some of the larger items into the house and wanted to leave them outside. I repeatedly told them that this was not an option and eventually the figured a way to get all the items into the house- after numberous calls to Jay (who did not take part in the journey). The movers were quite agitated and argumentative- however had they turned up on time, we would not have been doing the move/delivery at 2am in the morning. The communication on the whole was awful- I was not kept informed and felt like I was being lied to where timings were concerned. The majority of communication was instigated by me via calls to Jay and Vee. The movers were a tad aggressive and as a young woman it was quite intimitdating- had my brother not been there I think they may have not complied with the requests to put the furniture in the house. For my troubles and the 9 hours delay I was told by Jay that he would call me on the Saturday to discuss some compensation. This call did not come. I called him on the Monday and after a long and heated discussion, in which he tried to shirk any responsibility for the way things panned out, he agreed to refund some of the money. I don't think I will get a refund. DONT USE THEM. THEY ARE UNPROFESSIONAL, RUDE AND A WASTE OF YOUR HARD EARNED MONEY AND TIME. THEY SHOULD NOT BE ALLOWED TO RUN A BUSINESS.

Great service, great price.

Prompt and prefessional from Kelle in the office, to Vee on the initial visit and the two hard working lads who turned up early and worked solidly on the day of our move. They provided plenty of packing materials, as well as all the boxes inclusive of the price.  A great experience from start to finish and I would have no reservation recommending this team - thank you.

Good.

All in all we had a good experience moving with UK Removal Company. A competitive quote, good communication with the sales team, movers arrived on time, were polite, helpful, communicated well. We had a relatively small move of selected large items that we were unable to move ourselves, moving from a 3 bed house to a 2 bed top floor flat with no lift access. The team of two were efficient - the only negative points were slight damage to a statue and a few small oil marks on the carpet of the flat we have moved into. Overall we'd be happy to recommend and use UK Removal Company again.

Vee was an excellent sales person to send out as she was very efficient and knowledgable about what we needed and great with the quote. Then they were great with delivering the packing boxes tape etc..

Very quick and efficient all round and the unload was even quicker.

Avoid at All Costs.

Our initial experience of this company was positive. Vee seemed professional, knowledgeable and helpful. After Vee completed an inventory, an assessment of the building and what was needed for the move we were provided with a quote which stated it was a three man job. Vee talked me through how the day would pan out including timings and reassurances that we would not need to be involved in any of the removals.

We had a number of complications with our exchange which resulted in our completion date being only 3 days after exchange. We kept the company fully informed throughout this process and as soon as we had confirmation of our moving date we confirmed this with the removals company. Due to the late turn over we were told by Vee that they had the man power to complete the job but not an available van and that we would have to pay an extra 180 pounds for the hire costs of the van. I agreed to this as I didn't want to risk not being able to find a removal company with only three days before we were due to move.

The day of the move was stressful beyond belief. The men turned up TWO hours late, and there were only two rather than three of them as stated in the quote. I was given no explanation as to why there were only two of them and the reason given was for the late arrival was volume of traffic.

We were moving from a fourth floor flat and we needed to be out by 1pm. Although I wasn't told to help if I hadn't got fully involved the move would have taken several hours longer (later admitted by one the workers). In addition, I was moving with my young family (1 year old son) and my mother-in law.

Once the workers arrived I have no complaints regarding their work ethic and attempts to get the job done as quickly as possible.

In addition, I was told by the manager Jay that I would have to pay an extra £200 pounds to go back to the flat, because the van that we paid an extra £180 for wasn't big enough to take all of our belongings in one trip. ( Despite Vee having completed a detailed inventory of the all things we were taking). I refused to pay this, but as it turned out the one item left wasn't needed but the fact that I was asked to pay extra after such a substandard service demonstrated a complete lack of understanding of customer service and the stress this company had caused.

We were told we would be in our new property by approx. 1pm. It was 5pm before the drivers left and I was exhausted having been fully involved in the removals.

Following the move I called Vee to discuss my dissatisfaction. However, she was no longer available and I spoke with Jay. My intention was to discuss a refund of some sort based on the fact that they had failed to honour the written quote they had provided. However, what I was given was a range of excuses, sometimes being blamed for what had happened and the repeated comment of 'the job got done'. At no point during the conversation was there an apology or acknowledgment of the companies failings. I was told that I chose to help (which is true) but there was no response to the fact that the move would have taken several hours longer if I hadn't. I was told that it was down to their discretion as to how many men they send on a job, which suggests the quote isn't worth the paper it is written on and it doesn't matter how long it takes or how it is done as long as it gets done. Clearly on that basis they have no understanding or don't care about the undue stress they place upon people during what is already a very stressful experience.

Jay finished the call by telling me he would call me back after he had spoken to the workers to get their feedback. I have not received that call and I have also not received a receipt for the £800 we paid, which was promised by Vee several weeks ago.

I urgue anyone considering using this company to stay away if they want to minimise the stress and rigmarole of moving house.

Excellent.

We are very happy to have chosen the UK Removal company. 1. Vee came to our house and explained in details the all process. 2. after receiving the quote, we asked to do the move in 1 day, they immediatelly accepted to accomodate our request. 3. we received 20 boxes to pack our private stuff prior to the move. 4. Unfortunately, the day of the move, the team arrived late. We hadt to call the office to have more information. The london traffic can be very bad, we understand it can happen. 5. The guys did a great job and make our move the less stressfull. Actually, we went shopping, had lunch in a restaurant and came back 4 hours later to our house empty and fully packed in their truck. 6. all boxes are properly packed abd they paid attention to wrap in plastic our furniture and protect all fragile items. in conclusion, we had a great experience and recommend Vee and her team 100%. Great value for money.

Plain Sailing.

Moved from Sutton to Haslemere last week - on perhaps the worst weather day of the year -  it was horrendous. Two removal guys turned up within 10 mins of their allotted time, both very friendly and first thing they did was put blankets down to prevent drenching our carpets when they came in and out. Initially thought the van was too small, but they managed to get all but a few small objects packed safely in the back (we took those ourselves). They dismantled the sofa efficiently to get it out of the house and took care to stack the fragile items out of the way of the heavier or outside items. When we reached our new house with the keys, they were already waiting for us in the driveway - I suspect they would have started unloading already had the weather not been so awful. Everything was unloaded and placed in the rooms we requested at the time, sofa was rebuilt in the living room - with the reclining section tested to make sure it worked. There was a small breakage, but considering the conditions I think this was a thoroughly excellent service for the money we paid. I recommend this company and I would have no hesitation in using them again should the need arise.

The service overal.

The communication and the service was very professional. Our move, over two days, was militarily implemented and I found everyone involved absolutely fantastic. The packing and the dismantling aspect of the service was also invaluable and consequently reduced significantly the traditional stress factors of moving home.  I would thoroughly recommend them, they were not the cheapest but the service was highly prized, reliable and worth every penny. .

Disapointed.

On the date of moving I was told to expect the the men from 08.30- to 09.00, they actually arrived at 09.20.They introduced themselves and began on the process of loading the lorry, I expected the hole procedure to last no more than three hours, in fact in took almost six hours and this was with the help from my son, so we were not able to be on our way until 15.30. Following a stressful drive to Bournemouth due to traffic which took us three hours in the car we arrived at 18.30.Around  19.00 my partner received a telephone call from them as they were lost, following several more conversations they arrived at 19.30. At this point I was concerned at to how long is would take to unload the lorry at is took so long to load and it was becoming dark. When they did eventually arrived there were only two men now and not three, So now even more concerned. My partner and son had to help them unload the lorry, As all the boxes had been packed and labelled I expected that they would be put in the correct rooms as it was coming off the lorry but most of the boxes were just put in the lounge which then had to be moved again by myself, partner and son.   It took another three hours before they could be in their way back to London. I choose this company based on what I perceived  to be professional service and I feel that it fell far short of that. My son and partner had to assist them to unload the lorry as they would have still been doing it after midnight, which no doubt would have disturbed our new neighbours. There is also some damage to a few items. The front leg on the TV stand in the lounge has been broken off, both of the handles on the pro step machine have been broken, and the wooden floor in the lounge has been scratched when the sofa was put back together and put in place. I have writen an email of complaint over a week ago no responce as yet!!

Efficient removal experience.

Having sourced UK Removal on the internet I was very impressed with their professionalism and efficiency. A site visit was arranged for the very same day of my enquiry and the price quoted was very competitive. On the day of removal the team turned up a little earlier than anticipated and loaded the van in very good time.
They knew what needed to be done and followed instructions to the letter. Overall, a good service was provided, so thanks to Vee and her colleagues for a job well done.

My moving experience was handled extremely professionally, from the initial quotation through to the date of moving.  Both operatives were polite, helpful and worked extremely hard to make my move from Orpington to Ashford a stress-free experience. I cannot praise them enough for their quality of service, pleasant attitude throughout a long day and helpful suggestions as to where furniture would be best placed.  I have no hesitation in recommending this removal company to anyone who is considering moving house.

Currently taking this compnay to a small claims court.

I have read the below reviews thoroughly and it seems this sham of a removal company do the same things over and over again. They are highly unprofessional and left me with a 3/4 moved house and refused to come back unless I paid them an additional £200.

Below is a summary of what this company seem to do every time

- Vee came around to assess the move, and promised me many things which where not delivered. She came across as professional and competent - this is the only time you will see any professional actions.

- On the day of the move the van will be late - in my case an hour late

- Van used is over 20 years old and in terrible condition

- Promised to send 3 movers - only 2 arrived

- Ran out of boxes for my move, so I had to buy black bags to finish this off

The packers and movers were competent and friendly, they were a little slow but this is ok. They worked hard, but the management of this company is incompetent, and were not willing to support their workers.

My main gripe was they didn't finish my move, the van wasn't large enough to fit everything and they were not willing to make another visit or journey (even though I moved 4 minutes down the road) The management is rude and incompetent, the can't even do the fundamentals like supply enough boxes and a large enough van.

Avoid this company at all costs. I am currently starting the process of taking them to the small claims court to recoup the losses I made (as I had to use another company to finish off the job)

Please look elsewhere for a professional removal firm.
