Avoid Simpsons Removers.

Simpsons customer service and removal and delivery service were incredibly poor and I would advise anyone moving internationally to avoid using this company. The packing service was very quick but, it turns out, due to poor packing. There was no tracking service provided from collection and we were completely in the dark as to where are belongings were as they were flown to the USA. Time estimate was 7 to 10 days and the service took over three weeks. We were also charged significant additional fees by the third party US agent despite paying a door to door service upfront. Almost all boxes were damaged on delivery and multiple items smashed. Simpsons did not apologise once for the delay or the breakage. I would never use this company again.

Simpsons Removals.

Simpsons were great - the request for a quote was dealt with quickly, very pleasantly and was very competitive. On moving day the team of 4 were professionalism itself - they turned up on time, were unfailingly pleasant and polite, and were extremely quick and practised. They were good humoured and patient - we had to wait over 2 hours to get into the new house and once there they did wonders moving furniture into small spaces - and then moving it again to other places when I changed my mind! Nothing was damaged or broken. The team were very experienced, courteous, hard working, effective and utterly professional - just the support needed on what is quite a stressful day. I would definitely recommend them to others.

Move to Norway.

If you are looking for a removal company,I would recommend Simpsons Removals. I was let down at the last minute by another company. I called Simpsons and they stepped up to the plate, yes more expensive than the other company, but everything was sorted quickly even the customs for Norway. I booked their part load service as I only had a small amount. Told me it would take 7-21 days arrived in 10 days. Nothing missing nothing broken. In a way it was just as well I didn't get a chance to read the reviews posted beforehand. There is always 2 sides to a story and mine was excellent start to finish.

Excellent service from start to finish.

We have just received our goods in Perth Australia that the Simpson crew packed and shipped for us. I've got to say from the very first call to their office they were professional and understanding as we had some very expensive art work. The quote I got from them did go up but I've go to admit I did take more stuff and I was expecting to pay more as they did tell me "you pay for what you take". In short they were excellent and I would recommend to anyone.

The worst removal company ever.

Items to Paris - damaged by water. Items to Ibiza - they forgot half the items and I had to buy another return ticket to Ibiza in order to receive the rest of my items. I bought another washing machine to use while they decided when they were going to deliver. I now have 2 washing machines in Ibiza. Oh and the date for the delivery of the forgotten items changed 3 times. The staff were unhelpful and offered absolutely no compensation for the additional expenses I incurred due to their lack of professionalism.

Wish I had read the reviews first.

I engaged Simpsons to move and store my furniture for a two year period while I was overseas. My first bad experience was 20 minutes after the driver left when I realised my purse had inadvertently been taken off with the storage. It was a Saturday and the Simpsons offices were closed so I could not get in touch with them to ask for a contact number for the drivers. I could pinpoint exactly where the purse was in the container and Simpsons seemed very accommodating. I arranged for a relative to go to the storage depot to collect the purse and thought no more of it. Within a couple of days I received an invoice for almost £275; the invoice stated that it was for one man's labour for one hour!! If not for the fact that they had my goods, I would not have paid a penny but eventually got them to agree to halve the figure quoted.
The collection and return of my goods was in the region of £900 plus I was paying between £160-170 per month for 25 months for storage (3 containers only). Not insignificant sums so you would expect them to be more accommodating than they were.
I was advised that I should take out their insurance while my goods were in storage, which I did. When the furniture was brought back three items had discoloured and so I fully expected to be able to claim on the insurance. I contacted Simpsons and was told that such damage was not covered and to check section so-and-so of the T&Cs. On reading this there were more exclusions than you could shake a stick at, so not worth a light really. I then discovered that some items were missing, small but necessary things such as the screws to put one of the beds back together, together with a glass top. After a number of telephone calls and emails being ignored, I was finally told that the container had been cleared fully and since re-used so they couldn't explain where my items were. If anyone is tempted to use them I would recommend you read all their T&Cs first, and read the reviews (not testimonials on their website). I for one will never use them again.

Domestic removal.

I knew moving would be stressful but had not imagined that choosing this removal company would make it so much worse. On the day of removal they kept disappearing and I had to go to look for them. It turned out they were not happy that they could not park immediately outside the property. I had raised this with the assessor and shown him the property on google maps, & he had said there would be no problem. After 4 hours they decided it was too late to deliver & kept my furniture overnight, leaving me alone in an empty house. They then charged me an additional fee on top of the original quote which more than doubled the cost to deliver the next morning (which they achieved within two hours). I found them in-communicative, unhelpful, and inconsiderate. Of course their contract makes sure that any problems are down to the customer – so there is nothing that can be done when things go wrong. Except to warn as many people as possible to avoid this company and find one which cares about its customers or at least has a basic understanding of customer service.

The worst company ever.

Moved from the UK to Canada. On the quote it clearly stated that we were getting the full unpacking service when the furniture was delivered to Canada and all boxes and paper would be removed from the premises. However, when they sent the paperwork to sign they intentionally took out this service and left a single mother and her 2 young children to do everything. They are liars and thieves STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY.

Worst Company & Very Vindictive.

This has got to be the worst ever shipping company in history. We moved from the UK to Cyprus in Oct 2017 & we stupidly decided to book with Simpsons to ship our stuff to Cyprus, BIG MISTAKE. As when we spoke to a guy in the office called ersin for a quote, he sent someone round who took photos of our property & then came back to us within 2 days with what we thought at the time was a very cheap quote & cheaper than the other shipping companies. Now ersin told us that based on the volume of our property, we would only require a shared container, not a sole container as we don't have enough volume for a sole container, so we stupidly agreed as he explained it was half the cost & we'd save money as we would be sharing the container with another person who was also having goods shipped to Cyprus & it would only take maximum 4-6 weeks tops for our property to arrive to Limassol. We thought ok no problem, but he then stole an extra £336 out of my pending refund of £1300 which was due back into my bank account as he claimed that when simpsons gave us a price it was based on 556cubic feet in volume & when they got our goods back to their warehouse and apparently measured the cubic feet again, we were over the agreed 556cuft that we had already paid for and agreed in writing , but no ersin was adamant that the extra £336 had to be paid or else Simpsons would not ship our goods at all, this we felt was blackmail & extortion , I didn't agree to them taking the extra money they just took it and fed us a BS story that we had to pay and regardless that we already paid them the final bill in the 1st place , they threatened not to ship our goods if we didn't pay the extra money. Now amongst our property was our deceased son's belongings aswell which they didn't care about as once they had stolen our money that was that. We left the UK in Oct 2017, it's now Dec 2017 & they still haven't shipped our stuff at all, if anything they kept making BS excuses that they were waiting for another consignment to load onto the shared container. We emailed them, & phoned them on numerous occasions explaining that it was a matter of urgency that our stuff is shipped immediately as it's been longer than the 6 weeks as promised & they have our late son's belongings & they couldn't care less about us or our late son as they saw fit to physically steal his property as they were refusing to ship it to Cyprus for no reason whatsoever & they were keeping it against our will. On top of that we've now had to fork out an extra £2700 to an actual shipping company to collect our property from Simpsons warehouse & ship it to Cyprus, something you'd think it was Simpsons job to do , after all that is what they were paid to do & failed miserably. Also we received an email from Simpsons explaining that they would be refunding money back into our bank account as they did not ship the stuff at all eventually. But they have failed to refund us the money they stole from us, as we are constantly emailing them on a regular basis quite rightly asking where our refund was , but they don't reply to any of our emails. Plus we believe that there is an element of racism towards us as we a Greek-Cypriot family & the person who was supposed to be our so called " Point of contact " is Turkish, now that shouldn't be regarded as an issue, but that's exactly what it turned out to be, as he deliberately stole money from our bank account, lied over & over again as to when our property would be shipped to Cyprus, ignored our emails & calls. Which makes us believe that the only reason he's treating us like crap is because we are Greek, now if we were turkish, then I 100% guarantee we would have been treated with respect. STAY AWAY FROM THIS COMPANY AT ALL COSTS, SIMPSONS ARE THE WORST SHIPPING COMPANY EVER, THEY STEAL YOUR MONEY & LIE TO YOU CONSTANTLY . The Simpsons who live in Springfield are far more trustworthy than these lying, thieving, racist , heartless bunch of lowlife crooks. As of today's date 09/01/17 myself & my wife still haven't been refunded by the company, our money that we're legally entitled to as promised by tracy kench via email. Well done Steve & Melanie Simpson for single handidly robbing customers left right & centre thus resulting in flushing good old daddy's business down the toilet as that's exactly where it belongs with the way you treat your customers & the only reason your not in the dole queue is because of good old daddy dearest.

Worst customer experience ever!

Just have a look at the pictures of the truck when they ve opened the door.

All items unpacked such as:
-Bed
-Desk
-Chester
-Chairs
-Sofa
-baby deb
-Children bed
- Double Bed

have been damaged or broken.

Please feel free to contact me, may you need pictures of the broken Items and or comments about the entire process.

Summary of process:
- Wrong quote for boxes: Quoted half boxes of others companies and then charged more than the agree quote. Email available on request
- No Resident permit organised in London for their truck (email available on request)
- Removed stuff left aside and which has been shown to the removal team as stuff needed to be stored for 3 weeks. Had to buy shirts to be able to go to the office (email available on request)
- Unable to fully help for organising the parking permit in Lisbon. Unable to deliver all papers such as professional certificate (email available on request and witness by official Lawyer)
-Threating email to let me know that in case they could not park they would send back the stuff to London at my expenses
- Items not covered by blankets as stipulate in the quote and paid for resulting in almost every items broken and/or damaged (photo of the truck available and photos of the broken / damaged items available on request.
- Supposed to re-installed my sons bed, not done properly. Video available on request.
-Ask for proof that their team damaged the wall (photo available on request. No proof available as I did not thought I would photograph the picture before!

No ambition to settle with me directly or recognised how unprofessional they have been.

Will let you know once the story is fully over. Starting the claim process with their insurance + sending lawyers to them.

Simpsons Lie.

Not pleased with the lies they told to get our business. We were told by their representative that there was a maximum wait time, but now they are claiming that we could essentially be waiting forever for our stuff as there is no "maximum wait time" Who would sign onto that?! Who is willing to wait an unknown amount of time for all of their belongings?!
They also made false representation that they ship to the US "all the time" but now again, we are coming to discover that was another lie. Not happy, wish we had paid more to use a more honest and reliable company.

Unfortunately, for this particular groupage container the consolidation process has been slower than normally expected. Basically Scammers.

I used Simpsons recently for both sea and air shipping.

On both items their negligence has cost me close to £3,000 in losses:

1) Air shipping: Item arrived completed broken. When I filed a claim their insurance agents came back with a 'this is owner packed so no liability'

2) Sea shipping: They lost one of the boxes, have no idea what happened and again claim they are not liable.

Never ever use these guys.

House contents removal on March 24th 2017.

Simpsons provided the best quote for removals and were prompt arriving on the day. The whole process was completed by mid afternoon.
The negatives: removal men seemed in a great hurry and did not care for our furniture as much as we hoped. Not all the furniture could fit in the van so we had to borrow a minibus at the last minute. Our schedule included the removal men packing our wall clock but they declined because they didn't feel they had appropriate materials and were unprepared.

Storage to House move.

Simpsons were the most professional when we asked for quotes. Their quotes were in line with others but the communication with us was better. They were flexible as the date moved a couple of times due to builders issues. On the day of the move we were kept informed about the progress of our belongings. The team arrived early allowing the items to be unloaded and put in the house ahead of schedule,.

Unclear time for shipping and bad communication.

What a bad experience, quotation was not correct and I have been to pay more, but it can happen.We suppose to get our goods within 12 weeks, but after we chased them for several weeks trying to have an update we discovered that they were waiting to consolidate the container.TIME FOR IT? 9 weeks ..if we are lucky we will receive our items in 16 weeks.
Very bad communication and not a clear explanation about the waiting for consolidate a container (it could take forever..).

Avoid at all cost,hold your goods ransom and have unexplained charges.

They're only getting one star for the initial call with the salesperson and the speed in which they came to collect my goods.
It went downhill from there. Earlier this year I arranged for them to collect and deliver my goods to Cape Town, where I had moved to.
They quoted me a far lower price than their competitors, which I agreed with and paid. After they collected, they told me there were more goods than quoted for (even though I was repeatedly assured by the men collecting that what I was loading was the same as what I'd paid for).
I grudgingly paid extra, moved to Cape Town and tried to arrange for my goods to be sent. In the interim, I got really ill and have had to come back.

I've paid several hundred £ for local storage and on my return last week rang them and asked for my goods to be released. I spoke to the salesperson again who said I would pay the £200 odd for storage and they would release the rest, about £400.

I called accounts to tell them this and she's since sent me a bill for over £450. I feel this company is inconsistent, you hear one thing from the sales person and receive an invoice for things you've not discussed.
They have me over a barrel, have al my worldly possessions and keep demanding money without clear justification.

I am going to be reporting them to trading standards as well as warning other consumers about their business practices.

original enquiry came through via an online price comparison site in which you submitted
a list of the following: 10 boxes sofa sideboard & based on an export outside the EU to Cape Town/South Africa

The estimated volume based on your submission was 120 cubic feet and a
quotation was raised to reflect this. My quotation was accepted by yourself and
we proceeded to go through the formal booking process and all required export
documents were sent to you.

You also requested UK storage in which we obliged.

In the time your goods were in storage your personal circumstances had
changed. You were no longer shipping your goods to Cape Town as originally
planned. Our contract with you was based on the quotation for shipment to Cape
Town. If a shipment is being shipped outside the EU then VAT is zero rated. As
your circumstances had changed you then requested for your goods to be returned
to a UK address. We provided you with a removal out of store quotation, all
services supplied with the E.U. are subject to standard rate V.A.T, this was
explained to you at the time. VAT is a mandatory tax levied by Customs and Revenue and is not a charge that the company makes.

You still have an outstanding balance on your account which we urge you
to clear in order for us to either release your consignment for delivery to a
London address or, alternatively, you can arrange collection from our store. We have gone to great lengths to explain this to you during conversations with our office.

Removal London to Spain.

At first we thought how good and efficient they were. Survey guy came very quickly, quotes were sent to us straight away, A LOT of emails reminders chasing for confirmation.. They confirmed time frame for delivery was 2 to 3 weeks max, so we decided to go ahead with Simpsons. We were very impressed when the guys came to collect our staff, quickly and professionally.

Unfortunately, after that everything went completely downhill.
It has been now 4 weeks since they collected our staff and after several emails and calls (which most of them were ignored) I still don't have my stuff and what's worse I don't even have answer as of when it will arrive!! But let me tell you, they don't care at all.
Customer service PRIOR the booking was good, but once they have confirmed the business it's very very poor. I will not choose Simpsons ever again and I will make sure everyone else is very aware of what kind of service they will receive so they can choose a better company who treat customers equally as good from start to finish.

As you will be aware there remains an outsanding balance on your account which is preventing the release of your goods for delivery. You have been emailed and called by our European and accounts depts on numerous occasions asking for your payment. You recently emailed to say that our terms don't require payment before delivery, but according to the BAR's standard terms and conditions, to which we trade, payment is required in full before delivery is made. This was explained to you in detail before your booking and at the time of your booking.
Arrangements have been made for your delivery to Mallorca, however, if payment is not made promptly we will not be able to go ahead with these arrangements.
Your delivery would have been made earlier had payment of your account been made in good time.

Delivery Dates Very Unreliable.

Simpsons' were initially a really great company - quick quotations, very helpful staff, and the removal was smooth and pleasant. The problem started once our items left the house. Our initial estimated delivery was one week (we were so impressed, this swayed our decision to pick them), which became two weeks, then three weeks, then four. We were assured the four week estimate would be accurate, but then promises to call us and confirm were ignored, and every time we called them we were assured, again, that they would call and confirm two days later. They never returned our calls, we always ended up calling them again. We're still waiting, worried, in our new place with none of our possessions, and no final confirmation on delivery.

Simpsons generally seem like a good company in terms of moving and prep work, but their estimates are much vaguer than they make them out to be, and they aren't very forthcoming when trying to confirm things - dates just keep moving. It's very hard to work around as a first-time mover.

Fantastic team.

This is the second time we have used Simpsons – once to move us to Portugal and this week to move us back. From the start, the dealings with the office were seamless – even when we had a change of heart and asked them to redirect our belongings directly to the UK when they were en route to France. Once here, the four-men team were brilliant – efficient and courteous and without fault. Thank you to Sue and the office team and Paul and his crew. Bad customer service and delayed delivery of items.

We used Simpsons to transport a car from Spain to the UK. The original pick-up was badly handled. The guy turned up a day early expecting to take the car. He returned the next day to take the car but the communication between the 3rd party removal co and Simpsons is very poor. Once they had the car, and obvs payment, we had to chase daily for updates as to when the car would be delivered to the UK. One of the responses received from the customer services department was nothing short of rude. Car was finally delivered 2 weeks later (after being told 1 week), and was left with a builder, not the car owner. This is a shocking lack in care for belongings. The only person capable of any response was Ersin but I would not recommend this removal company to anyone.

Pick up was very professional.

Cons
Once you're out of the country, the 6-8 weeks delivery time becomes the delivery time once it has made it to a boat, for which they have no specific date in mind. They will lie to you to get your business.
You then start calling them to ask when it will be delivered and they send you form emails inviting you to spend an additional 50% of the original cost for them to send it now.
They lie to you about a date.
The date passes.
They're not sure why it was not sent.
You threaten legal action.
They send your shipment with a third party company after holding it for 11 months.

The worst company ever.

Do not use this company! My items were first on, last off a shared container. The boxes were 100% packed and full! Simpson’s didn’t ship my three seater sofa, washing machine, fridge and parts of my bed now left useless! Do not use them! Contact me if you need to hear the full story as they are poor!! UK to Cape Town. They didn’t have other options!

Terrible.

I booked a removal from Scotland to Northern Ireland and was given a guide delivery estimate of 7 to 21 days.

It took 58 days, so more two and a half times their estimate.

While this in itself was bad enough they also failed to keep me informed about this situation, providing neither reasons for the delay nor updated estimates, which is in violation of their own T&Cs.

In fact, they never even told me there was a delay.

I have emailed them countless times, including official complaints which were not acknowledged. All I got as response were half hearted non-apologies ("we're dorry you're not happy"). The pressing questions of where my stuff was, why it was delayed and when it would arrive were ignored.

When the items finally arrived they gave me all but three days notice despite originally promising me at least five.

House removal.

Dan, James & Eckers worked really hard to load all our goods very quickly they were very polite and friendly. Dan & James worked just as hard unloading although it was very hot , they worked tirelessly to get the job done. We were VERY impressed with the whole move and would definitely recommend Simpsons to others.

Long-distance move from Dartford, Kent to Eastbourne, East Sussex

Kent to East Sussex.

Removal van arrived promptly at 7:30 and in a whirlwind we were loaded. They left for the new house 40 miles away at 10:00 and arrived about 11:30, obviously keen to finish early. We had to spend an hour clearing the old house and collecting the last special items. We arrived around 13:00. Of course it seems to take time getting the funds transferred up the chain so our house was not released until 13:45. I had the feeling the removal team were frustrated at the delay but they must be aware of this. Truck emptied in another whirlwind of activity. Again mostly ok but several boxes ended up in completely the wrong place in spite of us labelling clearly on the supplied boxes. Only minor breakages but overall good. They just need to acknowledge that the Conveyancing system is not designed for early finishes; even if they think it should.
