Appalling!

APPALLING! (China to UK) but Asia/China options not available)
Customer Service have given me misleading information.
They have not returned calls asking for help.
I have waited in ALL DAY for boxes to be delivered despite being given a noon-3pm (approx) delivery time slot, then told it wasn`t true then told 9am-6pm.
As advised I rang at 3pm to say no delivery as yet.
I got a call back at 3:35 but they hung up within a second before I could answer the phone.
I could not dial an international number so rang the 400~ number again. I was told I would get a call-back. NO call-back.
Will I get my boxes today?
Will they be collected on time in a few days? I very much doubt it.
The disgusting Customer Service team (headed by Susan Zhang) needs a real-good shake-up as they think they are little tin gods dictating to me a customer.
WHY did all this happen?
Because I said I did not want to communicate by phone but by email - clearer, no ambiguities and misunderstandings - given there is a record of what said on both sides..
It put their collective nose out of joint so they decided to screw up everything as punishment to me.
APPALLING!

Dear Andrew,

You booked to ship from China to the UK, you had used us before to ship from UK to China 2 years ago.

We apologies for the delays in the delivery, we relay on local logistics companies in the area where you wanted the boxes delivered. Susan is in our offices in China and co-ordinates closely with the contractors.

We are awaiting your instructions on how you wish to proceed.

Used Seven Seas twice, will not use again in my life time.

I used Seven Seas Worldwide(SSW) twice, once from Germany to the UK, and then from the UK to Germany. I had problems and frustrations and lost work days the first time, but decided to give it another try, since the delivery in the UK was smooth(ish).
My god was I wrong. (tl;dr: DO NOT USE THEM AT ANY COSTS)
Moving is a stressful event, and due to many unforeseen situations, lots of bad things can happen. It can be delayed, things can be broken, etc. So one shouldn't take it too personally and lash it out on the moving company when these things happen. It's not entirely their fault, right? However, what makes a moving company good or bad, is how they handle the *bad* situation after it happens. In that sense, I would say SSW is the worst, and honestly should be out of business, since A) they are truly incompetent, that it makes simple critical mistakes repeatedly, such as mistaking the address and mis-delivering, B) it cannot control the third party delivery companies in foreign countries, and most irritatingly, C) it doesn't acknowledge their wrong-doing and reiterates the same excuse, that the customers' satisfaction is their utmost concern blah blah, of course which is a red lie, and but they cannot compensate for anything.
In the end, I lost two and a half working days, due to solely their incompetence, indifference and mistake, and was told there can be no compensation for this, due to statements in the contract. I looked it up. Yes, it says they are not responsible for the stuff not being delivered at the promised time, but it doesn't say anything about when the delay is caused by their OWN mistake, such as printing and attaching the wrong labels, as was in my case. And the craziest of all was, when my almost new 27 inch monitor was delivered completely broken, unusable, due to them not packing it properly, which of course they ensured they will, they did not accept any responsibiity, and said they will give me 'ex gratia' payment of 100 pounds, which is what I insured it for. That is for when the box is missing or completely lost, not for when my stuff is completely trashed because they packed it like packing a teddy bear doll. I have sent them photos of how my monitor was packed, how the box was squished, with no signs of 'fragile' or 'handle with care', 'monitor inside', etc., but they were ignored. If they were going to pack it like that, they should have told me to pack it myself. I am sure even as an amateur, I would have done a much better job than putting my monitor diagonally in a random box, and filling the triangular space with some bubbles, and expect it to survive a cross-country shipping. All in all, I lost time, energy, lots of money, and gained lots of anger and frustration. Who needs that in an anyway stressful cross-country moving? No one. Don't use it. Ever. Sure, for a simple move, they may be okay, but when the slightest *bad thing* happens, they will switch into the attitude of, since I got my boxes ANYWAY, that I should be happy about it, and that they have done their duty. Things I've lost and got damaged in the process? Not their problem. They are a disgrace, and they should be ashamed of themselves. BTW, since they seem to somehow pump up their review scores on trustpilot, I will be posting this review everywhere, so customers would know the truth.

Official company response

We are very sorry to hear of your dissatisfaction with the service you received. We collected your items in the UK and at the time of collection we were supplied with an address in Germany which we took from the inventory form you completed. This address was later undated by you to a new address in Germany.

Your items were, unfortunately, delivered to the original address you supplied. We are very sorry for the inconvenience this caused. We sent our driver from our Belgium depot to remedy the error; he collected the items from the initial address and delivered to the correct address a few minutes away in the same town.

The damage to your monitor is very disappointing; we are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding this incident. Our packing system should have protected the item during transit. Rest assured we have paid out for the value of the insurance cover regarding this job.

Please accept our apologies for the distress and inconvenience caused.

Regards,
Seven Seas Worldwide.

Avoid.

The quote was for less than half the final price. It went up significantly prior to sending it the items, then they claimed the items were larger than agreed (they were suitcases of clothes so not a rigid container so I couldn’t prove otherwise) and jacked the price an unreasonable amount more. Took longer than the maximum end of the estimated range as well. Would never use them again.

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: $750

Official company response

Dear Allen,

We cannot trace you as our customer under the name that you have given so regrettably we are unable to investigate the exact details of the shipment to which you refer.

However we can advise that a quotation is generated from the exact information provided to us regarding the number and size of items to be transported. If the dimensions of the items actually collected from your origin residence then differ from those on the quotation, this will indeed lead to the transportation cost changing.

A shipment can only be dispatched once we have validated the documents that are required to be completed and we have received payment for the service. Once this is done your shipment is immediately dispatched and will be completed within the quoted transit time.

Regards,
Seven Seas Worldwide.

Strongly ADVISE AGAINST using this company.

Their system can’t handle shipments from one person to another. The website wouldn’t let me complete my documentation which delayed things for two weeks. The original arrival date was delayed by two weeks and then by a further week. This meant it arrived in the country on 20th December. Their website had no information at all about holiday closures but the depot was closed until 3rd January. No one had contacted me by 3rd so I called them and they said maybe I would get it on Monday 7th. This meant taking a day off work, so after an immediate payment they agreed to deliver it on the afternoon of Friday 4th January. The van arrived and the driver unlocked my MoveCube and emptied it out into my hands, item by item. He dropped a marble lamp base onto the ground. I was very unhappy that my personal effects were being rifled through by a stranger and feel that this was a significant breach of my privacy but I was in no position to complain. BTW, don’t expect the Tracking to be accurate. I watched it tell me my shipment was still on the ship travelling all round New Zealand and back up past Adelaide and Perth before I was told it had been sent to the local depot. I complained and got a long and grovelling email which said nothing.

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: £800

Official company response

Dear Kelly,

We are sorry you were disappointed in the service we provided you. We ship 40,000 customer's personal effects and household items around the world every year.

You have not provided a Job Reference so its not possible to respond specifically to your points. We did post our opening and closing times during the Christmas period but these were when we were open not necessarily when ports or customs were open. Our online documentation and tracking system has been praised in earlier reviews but we are always interested in finding ways to improve it. The driver is present to provide assistance as an extra pair of hands, there is no suggestion of "rifling through your personal effects" if you would have preferred you need only ask him to wait in his van.

We are always interested in customer comments and hope you can provide us with your Job Reference number so that we can see what we can do to improve future customer's experiences.

A reasonable budget service, ruined by theft and denials.

The price for a medium move cube to Australia from the UK was reasonable, around £800 all in.
The company provides tape, craft knife and markers for assistance in packing which is a nice touch, and even lends some cones for marking the spot on the road where the move cube will be put, again pretty good for a budget service.

At this point in the process the only gripe that I had was the response to email queries was delayed, generally answering between 1-2 days later, possibly because their administration is in another country, but for pricing enquiries this seems too long.
There were no problems with the pickup, and the transit time to Australia was three months - again this is about average.
The main reason that I left this terrible review is that after delivery to Australia, I stored the boxes in a storage facility for two months. Some of the boxes had been opened due to a customs inspection. As I went through the items, two suits and a vacuum hose were missing, and when I raised several enquiries regarding the missing items the only response was: "Thank you for your message but I regret that, as previously corresponded, we are unable to pursue a claim with the insurers for this distressing issue.
However I am certainly sorry that such a disappointing conclusion to your shipment has so very regrettably occurred."

Seven Seas Worldwide only honours its insurance claims if the theft is notified within one month of delivery - this is a clause in the contract that you definitely need to be made aware of, if you are putting the goods in storage like me. There was no attempt to explain the theft from my belongings. This is unacceptable.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: £800

Official company response

Dear Mr Jenkinson,

You shipped a medium MoveCube® from the United Kingdom to Australia. Your shipment arrived within the transit time quoted and without incident. During the clearance process, your shipment was inspected by the Quarantine Agency in Australia. The contents of your vacuum cleaner had to be emptied and disposed of at an extra charge. This inspection was conducted at our Australian Hub in Melbourne and with our members of staff in attendance; all activities were fully documented and anything removed for inspection was documented as returned.

Your MoveCube® was delivered and unloaded at your address on July 28th. We are unable to comment on the security of your shipment once it passes out of our control. Our insurance protection continues for 30 days after the date of delivery to allow you time to make any claim. This period is an industry norm. You confirm that you had the shipment held at a storage facility for 2 months, perhaps they would be able to provide further assistance.

We have conducted an investigation of your shipment but cannot identify any incidents which may have resulted in a disappearance of items. It has been our experience that other MoveCube® customers either forget or do not properly document what they have packed (it is over 6 months since you packed the MoveCube® ) or, during the unpacking, items are put away in haste but later rediscovered. This is not to disparage your claim but an observation.

We regret your unhappiness with our service but we are unable to assist you further.

Lost at sea?

Yet again, appalling!
Early September tracker said arrive in Newcastle 1st October 2018.
3rd October it said arrive in Felixstowe 4th October.
I emailed Susan Zhang (CS contact handling my shipping) to query. 'Out of office' reply.
I forward query to customer services. NO reply.
Where are my boxes? No idea. Probably still in China.
Complaints procedure does not exist, stays in customer services.
I suspect my boxes are 'lost in the post'.

Dear Mr MacArthur,

This is the second time you have used us, previously you shipped from the UK to China. On this occasion, you shipped from China to the United Kingdom. The estimated transit time is between 56 - 70 days, your shipment was available to be delivered to you in the UK after 83 days. Please accept our apologies for the delay. We provided you with boxes - free of charge - that are specially made for us. They are chemically hardened and specifically made for the purpose of international shipment. We are pleased your possessions arrived safely.

You have been in correspondence with our Customer Service Manager who deals with complaints and insurance claims so we are a little unclear about your comments.

Refuse to pay out on insurance.

I've already written a number of reviews regarding Seven Seas on Trustpilot but the more exposure my situation gets the better. The move itself went well and my review would be 5 star except for Seven Seas continual refusal to pay out a small insurance claim. Two items were damaged on arrival. I had taken out premium insurance and so took photos of the damaged items assuming they would do the right thing and reimburse me for the damage. I then became embroiled in a game of tag between Seven Seas and their insurance broker because I had no evidence of damage to the box items arrived in. I didn't have this because there was no damage to the box. It's obvious the damage to my goods was caused by Seven Seas or their agents and a company with any moral fibre would realise this and pay out. Not Seven Seas, they hide behind hard to find small print and would rather spend time explaining why they cannot reimburse me. Don't use them, find another company and hope they actually know the meaning of customer service.

Dear Les,

As has been explained on numerous occasions, we operate under FCA rules which demand that your claim is review by a third party for fairness. Their decision was that you had no claim.

We are sorry for your disappointment but we are compelled by the the regulator to abide by that decision.

Multiple items broken and damaged!!

Do not use this company!! I shipped 9 boxes from Ireland to Australia on arrival to Australia a number of the boxes were damaged and many items inside the boxes were broken. One box in particular which has large 'FRAGILE' signs all over it looked like it has been used as a football. It was completely smashed and bashed in. Inside the box, the crockery which had been individually wrapped in the paper, twice then heavily wrapped in bubble wrap was broken. Among the other boxes, multiple items were broken even though they were also heavily wrapped in bubble wrap. Seven seas refused to take any responsibility and refused to provide any compensation for all the damages. They took weeks and weeks to reply to my emails and calls. The whole experience was very upsetting as some of the items that were broken had a lot of sentimental value. My advice is to find another company as these guys are unprofessional and clearly don't care about their customers.

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: €629

Official company response

Dear Lorna,

You shipped 9 boxes from Ireland to Australia, we deeply regret that some of the contents of your boxes were damaged but, as we have said in previous correspondence, there is no evidence that the boxes were mistreated. You took Basic Insurance which only protects you against the complete loss of one or all your boxes which, thankfully, did not occur.

Though you packed your own boxes and we cannot take responsibility for how you packed your boxes. We recognise that we should do more for our customers and we are working on a new range of boxes with supporting videos to assist those packing such fragile items in the future. We are sorry for your experience and we could not help on this occasion.

Update to clarify.

Update to clarify.

Upon getting a response from Seven Seas I’d like to clarify a few things.

First of all, I chose to write a review on the service I received from this company which is what I thought a review was for.. I paid for a service that let me down so one star is what you get. Not sure why they acting surprised, I used Seven seas to ship 2 boxes and they lost it. They paid me an amount that covered shipping for losing this but that’s not the point at all. I didn’t insure it because the items have zero value to anyone but me.. yes, their customer service didn’t fail but the service overall didn’t meet expectations at all. I still don’t have my shipment..which was the reason I used this company’s services. I wasn’t happy when the items were lost and am still not happy so please don't think that I was fine after dealing with their customer service manager (nice as she was) and receiving a pay out. Money isn’t everything you know.

See what the movers replied
Our shipment of 2 boxes were lost after it shipped from South Africa to Canada. I was confused when I received 2 shipping confirmations 3 months apart. Apparently it didn’t ship directly and made a stop in China. Ok, but then I received an email saying it’s now considered lost. I’m beyond heartbroken as there are some very sentimental stuff in those boxes that can’t be replaced by any form of compensation. I can understand a small package getting misplaced or one box but both massive boxes? Very clearly marked? I’m so sad.

Massive increase in price.

After my items were collected I was informed that the cost of shipping would be $310 - not $220 as I’d originally been quoted. I measured the suitcases carefully myself and cannot believe that the dimensions are so inaccurate as to incur a $90 additional charge. In addition there was no communication about which suitcases supposedly did not meet quoted dimensions and the customer service team hung up on me when I tried to get this information
Job ref: 000/306/574.

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: $330

Official company response

Dear Louise,

You shipped 3 suitcases and 1 bag from Sydney to London using our excess baggage service by sea. You used our online quote engine to generate quotes for shipping. The dimensions you enter are used to calculate the size of box that your shipment will be sent - all suitcases are protected in a box which is included in the price.

The dimension you gave us had to be increased which moved your suitcases into larger boxes. This was explained to you when you called.

We are sorry for any distress this may have caused you. You shipment has been sent and will be with you in June.

Don't even bother.

Everything started out great, the quote was reasonable the times absolutely doable. But after I paid, it turned out I'd also have to pay to get it through customs. They didn't tell me that before. Then they tell me I haven't paid the first amount and say that I'll need to pay for storage. Except I did. I had the exact same conversation 2 weeks in a row because they weren't noting information correctly.
Then, after I got it through customs, I waited, expecting to have my packages deliver to my new address. Nothing. I looked at the tracker and it said my boxes were on a ship somewhere, so I waited. Still nothing. Finally, I call, and it turns out my boxes have been in storage, and they 'sent me an email saying to call to organize delivery.' I never received an email. So now I've had to pay for storage as well.
Their tracker isn't accurate, and they've consistently lost information, and end up wanting payment. Go with someone else. Anyone else.

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: $1490

Official company response

Dear Nadya,

We offer an online quote which can take as little as 30 seconds to generate. The Shipping and Transport Price is displayed but there is a note to check for any destination charges. If you had click on "View" you would have seen the breakdown of all charges including the destination charges.

Once you place your order you would have also received the detailed quote automatically and you have two weeks within which to cancel and receive a full refund if you were unhappy with quote.

You would have received regular emails updating you on the progress of your shipment and you can log into your dashboard to see the progress of your shipment as well. You would have seen the location of your shipment and would have received supporting emails requesting that you arrange the return of your shipment.

We are disappointed that you were unhappy with our baggage service.

Great service and tracking.

I used Seven Seas to ship boxes from Australia to Canada and then a medium move cube from Canada back to Australia. In both situations I found the quote accurate with no hidden fees. Fine print is detailed, and lengthy, but clear on expectations. I was able to track my shipment in the months that it took and received emails at key points in the process. Delivery was received today, no issues, everything was intact and the process quick. Would definitely use them again!

Worried about my shipment now.

I'm not sure if we have been cheated by this company. They quoted us SGD 168.16 for 7 boxes of 0.65 cbm. We've paid SGD 130 as a deposit. The actual number of boxes was 6 boxes of 0.47 cbm but the invoice amount was SGD 341.47. I called to asked them many times but they didn't provide a clear answer. Some of them replied that their system had a problem and they would fix the issue while the others warned us about the storage fees. We sent the boxes when we were still in Singapore. We're now in Sydney but our items are still stuck in Singapore. We're so worried now.

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: 342SGD

Official company response

Dear Ngo Quoc Tuan,

You are using our baggage service to ship from Singapore to Australia.

Please accept our sincere apologies for the confusion but there appears to have been a bug in our quote system which omitted to charge for two of the items in your shipment. It appears to be an intermittent fault but our IT are now working on it.

You invoice is actually correct but your decision to use our service was based on our quote which was incorrect. This is not and should not be your concern, so we will adjust the invoice to reflect the original quote.

We apologise again for any distress we may have caused you due to the delay. This was entirely down to us trying to work out what happened.

Avoild!!

HORRIBLE!! The boxes did not delivered as per scheduled date, and can't schedule a time range so you will need to waste your one day waiting for a box (that NEVER arrived). The customer service said that the courier who deliver the box does not have a mobile phone!! WHO IN THIS CENTURY DOESN'T HAVE A MOBILE PHONE!! So they said I wont be contact if the boxes have arrived or not! GREAT! then how da hell can I know that my boxes have arrived?? Do I have to go sit in front of my apartment gate to wait for the boxes from 9 - 5 pm?? RIDICULOUS!!

To update, after that I have been in contact with the Sevensea customer service with several email to set another date to deliver the boxes. So I replied saying that 27th Feb would be ok, but then on 24th Feb, Monday a UPS guy contacted me saying he is at my apartment without any prior notice, and so I told him that i'm not at home and will be back around 14:00 and he said he will come again at 14:00, but did not show up. Then I send an email to inform the Sevensea the situation but no reply, then on the next day 25th Feb, Tuesday I received an email saying the UPS courier has went to deliver but failed due to the receiver was not available. OF COURSE I won't be available because, first I was not inform that the courier will come, secondly no one contacted me! AGAIN MAY BE I NEED TO SLEEP IN FRONT OF THE GATE TO WAIT FOR THE COURIER TO DELIVER THE BOXES!! As the Sevensea cannot manage to communicate with UPS or mange to deliver the boxes, so I decided to contact UPS italy, which is also useless. WHAT'S WRONG WITH THE LOGISTIC SYSTEM IN ITALY AND SEVENSEA. I FEEL LIKE IM LIVING IN A MEDIEVAL TIMES. IN THE END MY PROBLEM WAS NOT SOLVED AND JUST BEING IGNORED BY THE SEVENSEA STAFF. I just want my money refund if they cannot manage to deliver me the boxes.

Dear Miki,

We have tried to call you do not pick up the number, we have tried to email but you have not responded to your email. We are therefore unable to offer other options for the delivery of your 2 large boxes with packing material to allow you to start packing.

We rely on our partner UPS to deliver the boxes. We have used Google Maps to view your street to see where the boxes might be left when you have not responded.

We regret you are unhappy with our service to date.

Wish I could give less than 1. DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR POSSESSIONS.

If there was a way to give less than one star I would. I'm beginning to believe this company is nothing but a scam.

I moved from Italy to the USA, and had them scheduled to pick up my full boxes on Monday, July 6th. They did not arrive and went to the wrong address instead, even though I had called the previous night to confirm they had the correct address. We rescheduled for the following day.

(By this point I am now in the US and my boxes have been left with a friend in Italy.) Monday evening I called again to confirm that the rescheduling has gone through, they confirmed it had.

Tuesday: No show. I call to ask why and they said it was my fault because I never scheduled it (despite two different phone calls in to do so.)

They told me it could be rescheduled to Wednesday, I said I was staying on the line until the emailed me confirmation of this since they clearly lied to me the day before. I did receive the email.

Wednesday: No show. I called furious at this point, also because Thursday (July 9th) is the last day anyone will be in the house. After nearly two hours on the phone, they guaranteed me it would be picked up by noon local time, that management was tracking the whole thing, my case was considered high priority, and absolutely it would be done. They sent me an email confirming all of this.

Thursday (today as I write): No show. Again. by 2 P.M. local time I called, they transferred me to management (Wendy) who tells me nothing was even scheduled for today. She confirms that she can see the email they sent me, but that nonetheless nothing was ever scheduled. They can do tomorrow.

This is impossible, because as I made extremely clear yesterday, THERE WILL NOT BE ANYONE AT THE HOUSE TOMORROW. They are telling me nothing can be done, other than ME driving the boxes to UPS, which of course having already moved I cannot do.

No one is even attempting to help resolve this issue. Every day that I learn the people I spoke to the previous day lied, all they say is: "I'm truly sorry about that, I'll get it scheduled for tomorrow." They send me confirmation that they will do it, then apparently do not.

I am at a loss and don't know what to do at this point. In an hour and half there will not be anyone at the house where my possessions are. If you are considering using this company, DO NOT TRUST THEM WITH YOUR POSSESSIONS! THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOU, THEY WILL LIE TO YOU, AND IF THEY MAKE A MISTAKE, THEY WILL MAKE ZERO ATTEMPT TO RECTIFY THE SITUATION.

Official company response

Dear Mario, please accept our sincere apologies for the trouble we have had collecting from your address in Italy. This has now been done but not without causing you distress which is the very last thing that we want to do.

We do not operate our own depots in Italy, though we do in the USA where your shipment is destined. We, therefore, have to rely upon our partner. This is not an excuse - we selected the partner so we must take all responsibility - but it is an explanation why there is a divergence between what we say we can do and what happens. There was no wish to mislead, we pass on the instructions as we have explained to you.

We deeply regret your initial experience with our Baggage Service.

Regards, Seven Seas Worldwide.

Delivery.

Things seemed to be going fine and I waited to months for my shipment which was expected. But when my packages arrived to customs I was told to pay the delivery fees and then choose a day to "make sure and be home to receive". I chose a Thursday and took the day off of work. I was told I would get a tracking number in an email and it never arrived. I waited around all day and chose to call SevenSeas at 6pm local time to see what the deal was. They said they were sorry but the packages would not come until the next day. This forced me to take another day off work and lose money. I said this should deserve some type of refund on the $180 delivery fee. They blamed UPS by pushing the day. I did not pay UPS, I paid SevenSeas. If they outsource the work, that is their choice. But SevenSeas did not follow through on their promise for tracking number, delivery date, nor a partial or ANY refund. They never called me to notify me and they were the ones who made a big deal about needing to be home. They asked me to send emails to their complaint manager and she quickly said sorry but nothing she can do. I would not count on their word or delivery time and if you can choose someone else, I would suggest you do so.

Dear Chris,

You used our baggage service from China to the USA. We regret your disappointment with our service, we work closely with UPS in the USA but the Covid-19 situation has placed all local logistics companies under enormous pressure in your state. We offer our apologises for the confusion with your delivery.

International move from Oxford, Oxfordshire to Hartford, CT

Do Not Use This Company.

We moved from Oxford, UK to Hartford, Connecticut in July. The beginning was fine. We had no furniture so we settled for boxes only, premium insurance just in case due to irreplaceable/sentimental items (I didn't know there was fine print as someone else complained of and had things been damaged, likely they wouldn't have paid out because we'd have to prove they did it, so clearly we paid for nothing). The supplies they gave were helpful, we had 11 boxes and 1 oversized framed piece of art, so 12 in total. The pick up was smooth. Expected total w/ customs/destination costs would be less than $2000. And the delivery came about a month earlier than expected. EVERYTHING GOOD STOPS THERE - THE ISSUE IS DELIVERY. They DO NOT communicate w/ their courier, UPS, in the states. They bombarded me w/ emails that our stuff had arrived and I needed to pay and schedule delivery. I did that w/in 24 hrs and they said they could deliver the next day, Friday, the 21st of Aug. My husband took the day off and then nothing happened. No call, no UPS, no proactive update. Not once did they reach out to us w/out us raising hell w/ them first. We called them twice that night. We were told UPS had told them Fri am that they weren't picking up the delivery. Why did no one call us to tell us that?? We were told there was nothing they could do til Monday as mgmt was done for the day in London. The UK is only 5 hrs ahead of the east coast. By the time I was at work at 8am Monday, Aug 24th, they hadn't reached out in any way. 5 hours ahead and they'd nothing to contact us. They had no status when I called that morning, they said they'd follow up but had nothing that afternoon when I called again or that evening when I called a 3rd time because NO ONE WOULD EMAIL OR CALL ME BACK. We asked for compensation due to our wasted time. 'You need to email the complaints manager' , Jane Elwell, which I did, but who I'm not sure is a real person or if she is, does not care to actually provide anything but a lame apology and deny you compensation after quoting the fine print of not guaranteeing a delivery date. She didn't write us til Tuesday morning that really said nothing and by then, UPS' site said they would deliver that day. Seven Seas told me multiple times it WASN'T coming on Tuesday, they confirmed it even when I questioned why it said it would be on the UPS site. I was told this by a supervisor in Malaysia. Despite their info to the contrary, my husband stayed home all day just in case. The delivery came but not til after 5pm. Marked as 4:25 but to our package room and missing 1 box. No call, didn't buzz our apt - just filled the mail room where other tenants get their mail. They then missed our 1 piece of art and left it on the truck. I had another order for a trash can w/ a completely different company that came the same day and the driver confused it as my 12th Seven Seas box. Of course that didn't stop Seven Seas from sending a completion email when we called to tell them we only had 11 boxes. They did nothing to help us w/ that either. UPS delivered it the next day - again no updates or status at all and not til 6pm. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT YOUR ITEMS. They had told us they'd opened an investigation w/ UPS - but gave no follow up on that. They have since still not replied but the one time to any emails, no further apologies or checking in if we even got the last box. Ghosted entirely. Their response to this review will be how sorry they are, they'll blame the carrier (sorry, don't buy it - we paid Seven Seas, not UPS) and Covid, but it won't explain their lack of accountability or proactive response when something like this happens. This is simply a baffling way to run a company like this and I can't wait to tell everyone we know never to use them.

Official company response

Dear Angel,

You used our Baggage service by sea from the United Kingdom to the USA for 12 items of your personal effects.

Your destination address is in an area not covered by our depots. We therefore hand your shipment over to a reputable partner, in your case UPS. During the Covid-19 crisis, UPS changed their procedures to cope with the massive increase in demand for their services with the rise in online purchasing - a similar situation has occurred in all the countries where we use partners to cover those areas we could not cover. This has greatly impacted on our ability to manage shipments with resulting split shipments, failure to update information pertaining to a shipment, etc. Consequently, we have limited those areas where we operate to those we can cover ourselves offering only limited areas covered by UPS such as yours.

This is an explanation of the situation within which we, Seven Seas Worldwide, are having to operate. This is not passing the blame; you remain our customer and we are doing everything we can to assist. We deeply regret the inconvenience and distress the delivery of your shipment has caused. Please accept our apologies.

Do not use seven seas.

Seven seas worldwide shipping….where do I even start? This negative review and manic ranting could be never-ending but I think its probably best to be short and snappy so nobody else makes the same mistake as me. Don’t do it. Don’t use this company. Not reliable. Not stress free. Yes hidden costs.

For context, let’s begin with my first shipment (by boat) from Shanghai to Glasgow (UK). This venture took 121 days for two suitcases. It took 12 days to move between Kent and Glasgow. But this wasn’t really a problem for me, it was my autumn/winter clothing (this happened in August/September) so I was patient, it would eventually arrive, I’ll give Seven Seas a call and just check up on it to be sure. The call centre staff are most probably the most unhelpful people I’ve ever encountered in the service industry. They had no additional information that I couldn’t see for myself on the website tracker, whether this is a management flaw (I suspect it most likely is) or the people just didn’t care (this could also be partly true) nobody was able to tell me anything further than “yes it does appear to be taking longer than usual” …why?..”call back again in a couple of days and we’ll see what the situation is” they were desperate to get me off the line, one can only imagine they are inundated with frustrated customers like myself. Calling back in a couple of days simply resulted in a different person telling me to call back in a couple of days and this cycle repeated itself for a good few weeks… Hey ho it eventually made it to the UK to my parents house and I used DHL to swiftly transport it onwards to Poland which they managed in 4 days. Well done DHL!

Now, my second shipment, this is the big one that nearly drove me to a nervous breakdown. My every-day and work clothes that went on an AIR shipment (this means they flew in an airplane although I now reckon they packed it on the back of a tortoise) took 74 days to transport from China to Poland. 74 days. 74.

Soon the cycle of calls began “oh dear longer than usual… don’t know why… give it a couple of days… call back”. This went on for weeks, 6 at least. Then, I get an email from Polish customs “why is this name on your shipment?”. By this point, my luggage had been at customs for a few weeks and seven seas had told me there was no problem and I just had to wait it out, it was out of their hands and all the fault of customs going slowly. I then received a call…and it hit the fan…the name on my shipment was not my name. So I tell customs that I don’t know that name or why it’s on my luggage and proceed to call Seven Seas where I immediately lose my patience (to put it politely). This was the reason for the delay, why had this not been picked up on, why had this happened in the first place. Why oh why. Well this outburst finally got the ball rolling. Something clicked with Seven Seas that I was not a happy customer. They finally pulled their finger out and lo and behold they were actually able to do something about the delay (why had this not been possible earlier when I was being polite and courteous? Who knows!)

Fast forward another 3 weeks, a further customs payment, yes there were 2 payments needed for some reason to TNT and FedEx (they were now involved and I don’t quite know why, no one seems to talk to each other and they certainly did not talk to me).

I am seriously out of pocket from the cost to begin with, additional customs costs, additional cost for masks being removed (apparently China won’t allow that in a midst of a pandemic) and then having to buy new clothes to keep me going until my luggage arrived.

I have no idea how they have a high rating on TrustPilot (more like UNtrust pilot, am I right?! I guess ‘bots’ are all the rage these days and get the ratings higher). I am so glad that this nightmare has ended, I have my stuff back and I will never use Seven Seas again and I urge everyone else to look elsewhere for their shipping needs.

Official company response

Dear Elaine Mcc,

We regret your experience, your sea shipment from China to the United Kingdom was severely delayed owing to restrictions imposed by Covid-19 in China, Hong Kong and then the United Kingdom. In addition, you were not in the UK to receive your shipment which further delayed the arrival. You were unable to claim TOR entry which would have been duty-free so we had to await your decision on how you wished us to clear your shipment, under these circumstances, before we could proceed with the return of your shipment.

We would point out sending a shipment from the UK to Poland, within the EU, does not have the need for Customs clearance, at least until the end of this year. DHL would have experienced exactly the same issues with your air shipment from China to Poland.

Your air shipment has charges at the destination raised by TNT which are highly likely to be taxes and duties for the contents of your shipment. We are investigating to confirm this assumption.

We deeply regret your experience but these are factors that are beyond our control. In point of fact you did not move a 2 bedroom household, these were both shipments of excess baggage.

Regards, Seven Seas Worldwide.

Never Use This Company.

Terrible service, hidden fees, unclear process

I will never use this company or recommend them to anyone in the future.

I shipped 2 bags from Hong Kong to Canada and it couldn't be more of a burden.

They don't clearly explain you need to sign for your bags at customs, and the location of customs isn't even close to city where I live. They give you 1 week to do it or else you need to pay Customs money every day as storage fee.

They tell you to talk to their Customer Service Manager Jane Elwell, who I don't even think is real as they outsource their Customer services to Malaysia. They send autogenerated generic emails that provide no help during the process. In fact it just adds more confusion.

I hope you come upon all these horrible reviews before you want to use their service rather than see this and be a casualty of Seven Seas Worldwides horrible service.

Dear Jordan,

Our quote explains the process, but at the stage of the quote we are unable to give you specific addresses and only an outline of the process.

We have three Business Centres we operate to support inquiries 24/7, in Malaysia, South Africa and the United Kingdom. Caring for our customers is not something we would pass to a third party.

The process of clearance in Canada can be confusing, we admit, we try to keep you informed with regular updates by email, as well as online tracking. We will contact our offices in Canada and see if we an offer you further direct assistance.

Scammed, never came. Avoid at all cost.

Wow, super responsive and helpful before I paid the deposit. After deposit, 100% disappeared & unresponsive. No pickup, no replies, nothing. Judging by everyone else's reviews, it seems like the company stopped caring about their reputation. Unethical scammers, I do not know how you all sleep at night. I waited 2 months and I am a student who needs my stuff back. You guys have no heart, just lust for cold hard cash. May God bless you.

Dear Chai Jw,

We have searched our database and can find only one job we have had in the last two months from Indiana to Malaysia. The name you have used when posting this review is not the same as the name of your account with us but the name on your passport makes us pretty certain you are the same person.

You did pay a deposit of $95 and we delivered to your US address a packing box on August 13. You then arranged a collection on August 25 but you were not apparently present nor have you provided us with a representative who could act in your absence.

We have failed the collection and await your instructions as to how you wish us to proceed. If you are now in Malaysia then you can contact us on our toll free number 1800 88 66 98.

Smooth delivery.

Smooth and prompt delivery of my 8 shipments from the UK to MALAYSIA. Boxes not crushed and everything is perfectly fine upon arrival. Sea freight was cheaper but longer, my stuffs weren’t urgent so I chose that. Waited for around 3 months, and my shipments finally arrived to my door. Drivers were all friendly and helpful, highly recommended to use their service.
