Big Red Removals and Storage

Our whole experience with Big Red Removals was exemplary. Annabelle and James in the office were professional, responsive and pleasant to deal with. Our removals team of three led by Adam were excellent. They turned up ten minutes early and moved everything very quickly, efficiently and again in a very professional and pleasant manner. They packed the van methodically ensuring space and time were not wasted. We were only moving locally but they managed to have everything into our new house (and more or less in the room it was meant to be in) by lunch time which completely exceeded my expectations based on our previous move with less stuff. Everything was handled carefully. I will definitely use them again and could not recommend them strongly enough.

We've used Big Red a few times in the past 4 years. After we got married, the boys packed up both our flats and moved us into our new place.

Then, my wife and I worked abroad last year, so we had them pack most of our possessions and put them into storage, after we sold our place. We moved into our new property earlier in the year and they came back with all our stuff, assembled our furniture etc.

Unfortunately, a couple picture frames were broken, but everything else was in good condition. James replaced the frames for us a month or so after we settled.

Hard working team - highly recommend!

This year I had to downsize from our family home to a small flat. James came for a site visit, arrange box delivery and his team packed and separated my stuff for my new place, charity shop and dump.

Obviously, this was an emotional experience for me. However, the boys did a great job packing the day before and helping me settle in the following day. Special mention to Bill and Chris(?) who were superb.

The Big Red Removals team who assisted me with my recent move were brilliantly helpful, calm and friendly throughout - right from initial consultation through to the day itself.

They completed the removal and re-location efficiently and with no fuss (and it involved a lot of stairs and slightly tricky access!)

We used Big Red for moving from our 3rd floor flat (which had no lift) to a new property and they were brilliant - I'd highly recommend them.

James and the team were really clear and responsive from the first phone call through to the end of moving day. We opted for the full packing service including dismantling and re-assembling a sofa and two large beds which was a huge help, not to mention a 100kg pool table!

I will definitely be using them again for any future moves.

I was charged 40% more than the original quote confirmed over email and phone, due to a traffic. It was never mentioned to me that I would be charged from the moment the truck leaves the storage. The movers were late by over 3 hours, partly because they made a stop for another job before coming to my place and no one cared to keep me informed about their ETA.
After my card was charged a lot more than expected, I sent a number of emails but they were ignored by both Hugh and James. I also received a number of separate invoices with lots of different charges to make the matter even more confusing. I definitely do not recommend their services. They are unprofessional and dishonest.

Don’t hire Big Red Removals. They value their time more than they value yours.

BRR was storing my items in London, and in April 2021 I had requested they move these from London to Gloucester. They quoted an exorbitant rate for that move – £700 – with the argument that other removals people charging half as much are unreliable, arrive late and don’t do what they say they’ll do. In addition, BRR told me that they’d charge me £70 for every hour a less-expensive removals team is late for picking up my items from their storage facility.

BRR themselves ended up being 1.5 hours late in delivering my items to Gloucester – claiming they had trouble finding a parking space despite me telling their team ahead of time where to park (indeed they ended up parking on the street I had initially recommended). As anyone who has crossed the country for an important job interview will tell you, there are many ways to avoid being late when you’ve promised to be on time.

Interestingly the company’s manager who had quoted the £700 to me, and who was part of the group who delivered my stuff, didn’t introduce himself on the day ...

Later I sent BRR an invoice requesting £105 back for their late arrival, exactly what they would have charged a late competitor for wasting their time, and four weeks later I haven’t received anything.

BRR requested more money for a better service, but they didn’t deliver on their promises, didn’t consider my time important, and haven’t owned up to their mistake. Don’t hire them. I’d give them zero stars if I could.

Majorly damaged items, overcharged way over quote and even left items behind.

They did not respond to my 10 emails to fix anything and I am left with costs to fix damaged items and a crack in my wall where they hit a picture frame.

They were then late and said they were having lunch and charging me for it!

I think the reason they have so many google profiles is because they are trying to avoid having a justifiably low rating. Highly recommend using another company.
