Alexanders Removals & Storage

I had a terrible experience with Alexanders and would never recommend this removals company to anyone. The move from our six-bedroom family home in North London, over two days last August, was chaotic and badly organised – the team of workers were arguing with each other, they smashed a marble-top coffee table, they chipped my antique chest of drawers, and they hadn’t finished packing up our house before the new house owners arrived so there was a delay in the whole chain. But most horrific of all was that all my jewellery and treasured
possessions were packed in a single bag and during the move this bag disappeared and has never been recovered. We had over 200 boxes to unpack over several weeks, but the white bag never appeared. My husband found a photo of it loaded into the Alexanders van, but the bag never turned up at the new house. Alexanders fixed the marble-top table and the chest of drawers and gave us £500 compensation for the delays. But although we reported the missing bag of valuables to the Police and the police report describes the bag as stolen/taken, Alexanders have not accepted liability for it - they say that it could have been stolen from our new house by someone else, and not by their employees. It is not so much the value of the items (over £20,000) but the emotional and sentimental attachment I had to the jewellery and treasures - many of which were family heirlooms which my mother gave me before she died the year before, and some pieces I had collected on my travels in Africa and the South Pacific. Everything is irreplaceable. Alexanders said that they tell all their customers to carry their valuables in their car, but nobody at Alexanders ever told me to do this. I have been left with a huge grief for the loss of my treasured items and Alexanders have done nothing to compensate me.

Organised a flat move through Alexanders removals after we were recommended them through a family friend. We were very happy with the service provided. The price was competitive and the move went without any hitches.

When they came to pack everything up they gave us a full run down of the procedure and all our items were wrapped well and stored safely. On arrival at our new place we were very relieved that nothing was damaged and they helped us unpack and get everything in it's place. Considering the amount of heavy items they had to lug up up the stairs they were remarkably good humoured! Can't say I would have been!

We're very glad we used them because it good have gone horribly wrong in less capable hands. Give them a try if you are moving flats.

I can't fault the Alexanders team - they were superb.
 
Costs include storage for a couple of months.  Although not the chepest they were worth the money for the service, care and attention.
 
They came and did a quote first, which was very helpful.  They were flexible about the timing, coming early in the morning before work.  I had two moves, and a period of storage inbetween.  Customer services was great on the phone.  The team on the days of both moves were polite, careful, wrapping and packing everything with great care.  There were no breakages.

I have to congratulate Alexanders on their excellent service. They have just made a very stressful time a whole lot easier. It was a difficult move-a penthouse flat at the top of five flights of stairs with most of my stuff going into storage for two weeks and then a small amount coming with me to temporary accommodation until my house was ready.Then two weeks later all my things moved into a new house. With Alexanders I worked out a system of labelling to make it clear what should go where and every box ended up in the right place. They were punctual, efficient and extremely helpful and given the complexity of the move very reasonably priced. Thank you Alexanders- I will be using you again.

The whole experience of moving with Alxander's was fantastic. The guys were on time, professional, highly-motivated (despite awful weather) and took exceptional care in packing and transporting our belongings.  
Arnie coordinated the move really smoothly, with the help of a great team. At the new property they took great care in protecting our new carpet and were a truly brilliant group of guys, who couldn't have been more helpful.  
We chose Alexander's based on reviews and interaction with staff - we particularly appreciated that they took care of organising the parking permits for their vehicles.
I'd recommend them to anyone and would definitely use them again (though hopefully not for a while).

The whole experience with Alexanders was pleasant, easy and professional throughout. The were competitive on price, helpful and friendly at every step and, most importantly, absolutely brilliant on moving day! They were efficient and professional at all times and completely took away the dreaded stress of moving. They offered helpful advice and were clearly experience and knowledgeable. The one small glitch we had (some requested wardrobe boxes didn't arrive) was promptly and seamlessly taken care of so we barely even noticed. I couldn't praise the moving team led by Dimitar highly enough and would recommend them to anyone.

We have nothing but praise for Alexanders Removals. We booked them to pack everything in our house and place it in storage while we were doing some renovation work, and then to bring our belongings to our new home. The team were punctual, polite, accommodating and fast. Nothing was damaged and everything was clearly labelled as requested. We had a failed removal out of storage, in which half of our belongings had to be returned to storage because elements of the renovation weren't finished as expected. Everybody at Alexanders was happy to help - they took half of our belongings back into storage and offered a reduced rate on the second attempt as we hadn't used all the booked hours on the first try. Everybody we spoke to on the phone was cheerful and on the ball, information arrived promptly and the entire experience was stress free. They even offered to come back at a later date to collect the boxes and covers used for packing so we didn't have to do it ourselves. Alexanders is an expensive service, a real luxury, but thankfully they really do deliver what they promise. Moving house (and certainly renovating) can be a hugely stressful experience - Alexanders was the one element of the whole project which caused us no anxiety but instead just made our lives easier (albeit at a hefty cost). I would recommend them without reservation.

My experience with the folks at Alexanders was nothing short of professional. I chose Alexanders following recommendation from a friend and was not dissappointed. The account manger handling my account was friendly, prompt and courteous. When I arrived at Alexanders I was greeted and taken care of immediately. The storage facilities are clean and well managed. I feel the price is great value for money and that my posessions are in safe hands with the team at Alexanders. An excellent removals and storage company that I would highly recommend.

What a pleasure to work with such an excellent professional team. They all had different skills, but worked together well. They listened to my requests, and even coped with my panic moments when I thought things wouldn't fit in my garage! From first to last, everyone I spoke to was polite friendly and helpful, and all the boxes ended up in the right places. So very many thanks to all, especially those who sat in traffic for hours on end! I hope you enjoyed your evening by the seaside!

Kris and his team were very professional and extremely fast despite having to carry all our boxes and heavy furniture down 4 flights of stairs. They were also very helpful and obliging with our requirements. There did seem to be a lack of communication between the office and the removal team with regards to what we had discussed in the assessment however Kris happily got on with the job and carried out the removal as we had requested.
We are very pleased with the overall service received and would happily recommend Alexanders removals. We will be using them again.

Andrew M. was our point of contact at Alexanders: couldn't ask for more. He was friendly, professional, on top of every detail, and went out of his way to keep us both involved and informed throughout the entire move. 
As if moving wasn't stressful enough, our move date was unavoidably delayed with less than a weeks' notice. What could have been a disaster was handled brilliantly by Andrew; goods moved to secure storage at short notice, crews re-booked for the deferred move date, our initial payments credited for the new date and additional costs kept to an absolute minimum (nothing beyond the storage charges). There was zero pressure and no advantage taken; rather, Andrew did everything he could to set our minds at ease. Couldn't recommend him more highly.
The move crews on the day were very good; hard-working, friendly, engaged in what they were doing. Alexanders was not the cheapest quote we sourced, but they were worth every additional penny when the move date went awry. Ask for Andrew if you can get him!

This was a difficult two destination move.  One London house divided between two people's destinations. One to Hove ion the South Coast and one to a London destination which altered at the last minute.  From initial visit from the boss to his intelligent office back up staff's follow to the actual men shifting stuff in the day, this outfit could not have scored more highly. They were incredibly helpful, unfazed by last minute alterations ( which included dates and destinations) plus the whole complicated job was charged at a very fair and reasonable price.  Moving is incredibly stressful and Alexander's made this one as easy on practical levels as was possible. I cannot recommend them highly enough. .

The removal crew were brilliant. They were helping us move into our new school building. Unfortunately, their was a delay in the completion of the outside of the building and the planned route for the removal van was blocked by an industrial skip, the removal crew adapted and most of the move was done by hand, walking the furniture and crates to the new location. Even this was made harder by the contractor who had to tarmac the playground. The removal crew had to adapt a second time and find yet another route. The removal crew were polite, hard-working, professional and very adaptable. Nothing was too much for them and they kept good humour despite the difficulties of  the move. I would have no hesitation in recommending Alexanders to friends and colleagues, they did an outstanding job.
