I used Universal Relocations to move 9 boxes including TV from Dallas to Chennai. It took around 3 months [Dec 2020 - Mar 2021] . Kris answered all my questions around the quote & shipping procedures. Huzaina was keeping me updated with weekly status emails. Feeling relieved that we got everything back safe. Very happy with Universal Relocations for the door-to-door delivery. Would definitely recommend them.

Few things to note while shipping to India:

1) Avoid packing any items that can potentially break. No use crying over spilt milk.

2) If your current passport is relatively new, make sure that you keep you older passport with you in hand since you will be required to submit all of them for port clearance in India. Required for "Transfer of Residence" status.

3) Port authorities will open the boxes. 7 out of my 9 boxes were opened. So pack in such a way that they can easily put them back without damaging other items. You cannot expect them to be very considerate. In my case, I was fortunate that nothing got stolen/broken.

4) When your shipment nears India, you might get spammed by fake emails & calls from Fedex asking for KYC. Stay away from sending photocopy of your passports to them

5) Keep receipts of all your electronic items. The form that you fill in US does not require all the individual details. But the form that you fill for clearance in India requires you to fill all electronic items, their age, buying cost.

6) Weigh your boxes multiple times before dispatching.

7) Packing the household in US was an emotional affair as we didn't want to discard any items. But we get used to not having these items in India since the shipment takes 90 days. The house in India is also much smaller, hence when these items arrived, we do ask ourselves if we really needed to have shipped them. So pack wisely.

Moved back from Cleveland to Kolkata a few months back

(during the COVID crisis)

We started discussing about the relocation a month ahead and only after carefully understanding all parameters decided to go with Universal. Heard their name from colleagues who also used their service.

It took a total of around 3 months to get the boxes delivered (total 10 boxes) door to door (Pickup Cleveland apartment- Drop Kolkata home). We packed our own boxes and please make sure you don't hold back on packing the items with enough cushion and padding. We used ample wrapping paper, foam pads, bubble wraps etc. Also tape the boxes multiple times and make sure nothing is moving inside. Use double walled heavy duty boxes and they do accept boxes only from 2-3 vendors (like UHAUL, LOWES, Home Depot)

No big damage to any boxes. I guess that's the regular wear and tear and except for 2 boxes most were in pretty good shape.

Probably one of my boxes were opened (may be for inspection). Otherwise all boxes were as is packed when they were collected from Cleveland.

Once box reached India(Chennai) I was contacted by Ms Sandhya from Universal and she helped us clear the formalities and payments related to customs (We paid Rs 1000 per box as earlier communicated. Did not have to go through any additional documentation for customs). She coordinated the delivery from Chennai to Kolkata and everything went about pretty smoothly.

Would Definitely recommend their services for anyone looking for International relocation services.

Smooth and transparent process from start to end. Universal team had kept me informed on all stages regarding consignment. Thanks Huzaina for the regular updates! Inspection team at Chennai (Mr.Kamal) was also very helpful on the day of customs inspection process. He even arranged for lunch at the port as the process was delayed. Khushali/Huzaina/Sandhya , these three persons coordinated my move and were available to discuss small and big things during 3 months period.

Khushali - She initiated the move and everything was so nice and she was answering everything to me without getting irrittaed.

Huzaina - She was awesome , i must have spoken to her so many times and she was so sweet in helping me everytime. Infact she fast tracked the parcel from Delhi to Lucknow else i would have waited for 2-3 more weeks and by then my winter clothes which were coming from US would have been waste.

Sandhya - She gave me continuous updates from Chennai departure to delhi and was updating me on daily basis.

I heard so many bad reviews in Facebook and i was so upset and worried if i will even get my shipment in one piece but when i received the boxes on 8th Dec, i was amazed. They all are intact. Honestly out of 9 boxes, i have opened only 2 and they are fine but not sure what will be the status of 7 boxes. So if all comes good then its awesone else my feed back will be changed in terms of handling the stuff but still my feedback for the 3 ladies will remain the same.

Overall only one issue i have to report, I sent 9 boxes and it was agreed to pay 800 USD but when it reached Chennai i was asked to pay 100 USD more. Unfortunately there was no email trail for paying 800 USD only so i felt a bit taken here and learnt that everything should be in the email and any discussions on phone should not be treated as final unless its in email otherwise we may be asked for more fees and we cannot even prove that it was not the case. But overall it was amazing and I will be even writing the feedback in facebook too.

I moved from US to india. I used Universal relocation to move most of my belongings . Right from the beginning experience was warm & professional. I used universal relocation for movement of my goods from US to India. Because of covid situation I had to leave before the goods were moved from my place in US. Venkat from Universal relocation whom I only spoke over the phone took care that the goods are moved in time. He was very much responsive over the emails and what I appreciated of him was he never overcommitted, but goods moved in time as promised. On top, the volume judgment was also accurate, just by sharing pictures and I did not have to overpay too much. I was notified at each step from Shipment pick up to loading on boat. My shipment was handled at chennai and I had to send my passport from Pune to Chennai as shipment arrived. The process was smooth through bluedart and I had no worries. The shipment was handled by Huzaina and team. customs clerance took little more time than expected. But again it was handled very well by Huzaina and team. Eventually material was delivered within 120 days and not a single thing missed/broken/damaged.(Including bicycle).Overall their processes look to be impeccable( especially considering my shipment was part container load ). I would recommend Universal for the shipment from US to India.
