The Little Removals Company

I have never before dealt with a company that hides so much behind the minutiae of its T&Cs to avoid its responsibilities.
They hopelessly under-quoted to get the work (needed two full vans not one as originally advised even though we were moving a sparsely furnished three bedroom flat and I told them what was in it.) They then debited my card with the extra cost without notification. They damaged goods loading them into the van and and then into storage but in spite of charging a full month of storage and insurance for only 10 days storage refused to process my claim because although I notified their employee who photographed the damage on the day I collected the goods I didn't get a chance to put in it writing until three days over their seven day limit (which clearly has no material effect in this case). Because they needed two vans to get our goods out of storage they then couldn't move me out on the originally agreed day so as I was unhappy with their competence I arranged another carrier to complete the move. They then charged me a storage exit fee of £150 and in addition I had to pay £60 for one of their employees to sit in his car while the goods were loaded by someone competent. All my complaints have been met with quotes from their T&Cs which may be strictly the case but do nothing for customer service or to suggest they are an honourable company to deal with. I would avoid at all costs - get a reputable company to handle your move.

I found the little removals company to be such a pleasure to use.

When booking I read the contract and there's a personal note from the director about the limited liability. I found this to be completely transparent and I knew that in order to be completely covered I just needed to double check with my own insurance company or pay a small amount for complete repair or replace with them.

Turns out we didn't need that and the guys were so great and polite.

Came in under budget too.

Service cost: £650

It is important for survivors of domestic abuse and stalking to have complete trust, discretion and support in any service that they engage in. 1in4 survivors of VAW, suffer a plethora of Mental Health issues due to long term abuse and trauma. Whilst, I found the whole process overwhelming, the Little Removal Company staff remained patient and calm throughout. In fact, unwittingly the staff have a natural trauma informed approach, which survivors need and other organisations could do well to follow.

I highly recommend The Little Removal Company as a 10/10 safe, discrete and professional service for the 1in4 women & children fleeing their abuser. Thank you! from a very grateful service user.

I contacted this company early in January to get a quote for moving from BS16 to BS5, which is 2 miles apart. At the time I had a full house load to move, then in February I asked for them to requite as I had bought all new furniture and would have minimal items to move in respect, but I was told by Danielle that they could not reduce the costs, as their hourly rate was £60 and a minimum of 4 ours was charged.
This is not good customer service and would not recommend them at all.

Service cost: £240

1 Star is being generous - Awful company. Do not sign their contract, they are not honest. They were late for me and brought no equipment to move a piano, despite that being specifically requested. Took far longer than was necessary and then charged me extra for them being late / slow and incorrectly equipped.

They then took cash from my account without my permission!!

Despite trying to reason with them they still wouldn't refund me!

Service cost: £500

Dont touch them with a barge pole. I used them not so long ago and following the owner coming around to quote and a great service prior to booking and paying I then had nothing but trouble. They work on hourly basis, lorry getting "lost" for 2 of the 6 hours I paid for was my time, the employees had [EDIT] breaks every half an hour which again was my time, items were damaged and lost with no offer of an apology instead their reply was "it took 8 hours to do the job, you need to pay us for the extra 2 hours before we take up your claim", bearing in mind it took them 2 hours to drive a 30 minute trip and their countless breaks I found it to be rude and dissapointing. I paid for the dismantling and reassembling service, they refused to reassemble upon delivery to the address. Be very wary of using this company.

DO NOT USE THIS COMPANY!!
You prepare for your house move, you agree dates of exchange with your legal teams and then look for a removal company to take care of one of your most stressful parts of any house move. You contact the "little" Removals Company, agree the cost and then sign the contract.

The date is set and you wait for the day. Then..6 days before your expected move you get a email saying that your one and only move date ( the one you had contracturaly agreed with legal representatives) could not be accommodated. Instead you are asked if another date was possible? Excuse me, sorry what was that? Any sensible person knows that the exchange of contracts when moving home are tied to a specific date when everyone gets paid and keys are exchanged. What dumb a** would think otherwise. Oh I know The "little" removals company. Honestly this company doesn't know pudding from sh**

On given a chance to reply I was told that the "contract" I had signed was only a provisional agreement and as no money had been taken, was not legally binding, yet in email correspondence you are advised that without having the signed contract in place, your preferred date could not be put in the diary. Even after my contract was signed I received further email correspondence confirming my date.

Taking a look at the "little" Removals Company T&C's it is obvious these were written to be totally one sided in favour of the company. There is no obvious recourse for the customer and so any future customer who is thinking about using this company needs to read some of the "real" reviews on this company before making their decision. I certainly would not recommend them!

AVOID THIS COMAPANY!!

Service cost: £260

When we were arranging our move, the team was very responsive to all of our calls and questions. When we realised post-move that we were missing a picture, all of that changed. Despite calling daily to see if the picture had been found on their end (left in a van or in the depot), they repeatedly fail to return any of our calls. After nearly two weeks of chasing, they suddenly stated we needed to contact Customer Service , without providing any contact information on how we could do so. When we finally managed to get them to send the contact info, we had to wait 10 days for a response - which was to double-check all of our boxes! Obviously we had been through our boxed (and emptied them all) in the weeks since our move and had not managed to locate the missing item. Further chasing extracted a promise from them to reimburse us according to their insurance policy - we're still waiting on this. On top of all of this, we're also waiting for a refund for an extra, unexplained hour of travel time. We moved house on 22 October - it is now 17 Nov and nothing has been resolved. I would not recommend this company to anyone, if they cannot resolve mistakes and disappear once they've billed you for their services.

We have had the pleasure to move house with Art, Stuart and Rob and they were simply amazing. They arrived with a great smile, quickly assessed the work involved and started packing right away. They were very efficient, rapid and careful, all made it in one piece to the new house, not a scratch! The only thing better than their efficiency: their good mood! They were such nice chaps, so polite, friendly and smiling, they made this day -we somewhat dreaded- an absolute dream, thank you guys!!
We are very grateful. Danielle in the office made the rest equally easy so all round, a wonderful experience, we recommend this excellent service!!

We used the Little Removals company for our move from Oxford to Hertfordshire and I thought they were excellent. Our move date changed a few times and they were very patient and understanding, and managed to accommodate us even though we weren't able to confirm the move date until very late. The two guys handling the move were polite, friendly and helpful. They worked quickly and packed everything carefully. The day of our move they handled all our stuff carefully and got everything into the house without any trouble, despite some tight spaces and tricky stairs.

TLDR: very good experience, would use them again.

This was a brilliant service and I would really recommend to anyone who is moving house. The delivery men arrived on time and were super fast and efficient in packing up the van. They were also really friendly and respectful of our belongings. At the other end, the men were quick and careful with our furniture and took the time to reassemble items which had been dismantled. Would highly recommend - many thanks for making our moving day a little less stressful. Thank you especially to Adrian and Matt who were the staff dealing with our move.

A top class service from Rob and his crew, nothing was too much trouble. They arrived exactly on time, were polite and very courteous throughout the move. They worked so quickly, keeping us informed of which room had been packed and what was being done next. Excellent team work amongst the crew, and after a long journey, they still had the same energy and professionalism to get everything off loaded and into the house, without any Damage being caused. I would recommend The Little Removals Company without a doubt. Well done Rob and his crew.

Absolutely amazing service from when first contacting the office, days running up to the removal, the day of the removal and the friendly and great service after the removal. Would recommend 1000%. They went above and beyond during our move. My husband and myself had such a stress free move I can not fault this company at all! The team arrived on time with such a positive attitude! After being let down by another removal company 6 days before our house completion little Removals came to the rescue and I am so pleased they were able to accommodate us and provide such great service. No problems on the day and an absolutely fantastic company! Would recommend to everyone and anyone!

Thanks so much to Chris and his team for moving us to our new home in Central London. I had to repeatedly reschedule the moving date over a period of 4 months, thanks to a lengthy legal process and manager Danielle always made it so easy and I was never made to feel bad, though it must have been a nightmare to manage! I was given an excellent deal, saving hundreds of pounds and am very happy with the service. A large truck was sent on the day and our old 2 bedroom flat was packed up in no time with all our belongings carefully wrapped in blankets. The team were friendly and so polite I could hardly believe it. They did an amazing job, dismantling beds and sofas and reassembling in or new 3 bedroom flat, which is on 2nd & 3rd floor with no lift! They took no breaks and had the job done by early evening. Thanks so much for making our move stress free.

Two pieces of advice for anyone misguided enough to use this company:

1. Insist on a fixed price quote rather than their hourly rate, oterwise they are liable to inflate the hours taken for a move and attempt to overcharge you. They will tell you they cannot give you a fixed price but they can if they want your business enough or if you have another quote.

2. Do not under any circumstances give them your card details, which allows them to help themselves to your cash whenever they wish. Insist on being invoiced which enables you to retain control.

They tried to charge me an extra £210 on a 'fixed price quote' - perhaps they do not understand the term!

The packing and removals teams, on the other hand, were excellent, though clearly overworked and under-resourced. A removal which was promised for 09.00 arrived at 17.00, with no notification or update from their office. The reason, we were told by one of the team, was that a wheel had fallen off one of their lorries - yes, they are that professional!

However the best piece of advice I can give anyone is to use someone else for your move!

PS. As others have said, they get one star as the system does not allow you to give none.

We’d previously used this company to move between rented accommodation. The move took 6hrs, and cost £450. We moved yesterday same amount of furniture etc, they quoted 6 hrs, it took them 13. Incompetent. We challanged the high fee, they said they had to charge us, and wouldn’t even consider a reduction. Note to future movers, always get a fixed price. Unfortunately we didn’t and they charged us over double. Plus, they lost most of the fixings for the furniture, so we can’t even reassemble them. Our baby and toddler had to sleep on our mattress with us. Thanks for the great service and cost (NOT). Would not recommend unless you like your furniture left usless, and enjoy paying over 100% more than it should have cost. AWFULL !!

Can't recommend The Little Removals Company enough.

The two guys who moved my Father in Law from Buckinghamshire to Stow-on-the-Wold were professional and hard working. Due to traffic they arrived in Bucks 45 minutes late but when they left the told me to tell the office so that we were not overcharged. They did exactly what we asked them to do and the move went without a hitch. From my first enquiry the girls in the office Karolina and Hannah were proactive and helpful. I was not the easiest of customer as I didn't have a definite moving date and didn't know if we would need storage or if it was gong to be a straight house to house move. I gave them this information at the very last minute. It took the stress out of the move and I would definitely use them again.

Please stay away from this company, it is a SCAM.

-They will promise professional packing and will end up wrap your furniture with dirty blankets and throwing your items on the floor.

-Overcharge you for the distance and pretends that it was a huge traffic so they can help themselves to your bank account without even asking for your approval.

-They seem very responsive and nice at the beginning until they got your money and then disappear.

- They broke my award that I handed to them for professional packing, they just threw it in a bag.

-They came without any packing materials and even ask me to provide them with spare!!!

-I chose this company because I wanted to support small businesses but they don't deserve any help as they are scamming people.

They don't deserve even 1 star.

In our recent move from the Midlands to Aberdeenshire we were very impressed with the service we received from this company. They came on time, were very efficient at loading up and were a pleasure to work with.

In Scotland, after an eight or nine hour drive the previous day, they unloaded everything quickly and then helped with putting up beds and reassembling furniture. The men were friendly and courteous throughout and we were very pleased that we had used the company. They made what was quite a strenuous move for us into something much more pleasant than we had anticipated.

Move size: 4+ Bedroom Home Service cost: £1850

We had the removals service booked to arrive by 9am but nobody turned up. We had a phone call at 9.15 to say they were one man short and aiming to find someone to replace him.Danielle said she would call back within 30 mins but did not call back until 10.15 to say there would now be 3 men arriving at 12.

They did not arrive until 12.45 and then made no attempt to make up any lost time as it took them until after 3pm to load the van (I had a small 1 bed flat). The driver stayed in the back of the van on his phone and smoking (with my belongings in with him) whilst the other 2, clearly young and inexperienced men, carried down the boxes and furniture. 2 pieces of painted wooden furniture got damaged and they could not get 2 large bookcases out of the flat despite them having been moved in, made up, a year ago.

When they eventually arrived at the new property and carried the furniture and boxes in, they picked up a parcel that was sitting on the doorstep of a neighbours property. When questioned if they had seen it they ‘found it’ in the back of the van and claimed they thought it was a parcel for us, which made no sense as they had put it into the van rather than the flat.

To make things even worse we realised when we eventually got more things unpacked that there is at least one box missing, which contains lamps and lights. We can only assume that this has been stolen after the issue with the parcel, but as we did not take out insurance due to them apparently being a reputable company, we cannot make any kind of claim.

I dread to unpack anymore of my stuff as I feel there will be more missing. I only went with this company because they had glowing review and their initial customer service was good. As a young single female, I assume the workers thought I wouldn’t notice, but I did. I recommend that no one EVER uses this company.
