Dachser & Kolb

We sent a small load of furniture from Baden-Baden, Germany to Hartford, CT, USA for a price of over Euro 6000. The move went fine, with the expected small issues regarding timing, communications and furniture condition. No complaints overall.

However, to our surprise, an almost 15% surcharge was invoiced weeks after the move was completed. The move took about 9+ weeks, while the surcharge came an additional 6 weeks later. It included a new 15% pre-payment fee and another Euro 50 administrative fee although the entire initial invoice was prepaid weeks before the move was initiated and completed. This type of billing does not instill a lot of confidence in the accounting practices of Dachser & Kolb.

We wanted: full service, we got: total chaos. First: the inventory list created by d & k was completely wrong. I relied on it, that was the mistake. the process would be described completely wrong two days before, only remaining work was planned for day two, in the morning it was time to quickly pack something for the night. sat with a small child in chaos, did not even know where the pots are To cook porridge. On day two someone was sick, there was total chaos, but it was always "all right, we'll make it". Until 5:00 p.m. Almost 40 boxes had not yet been unpacked and the rest almost completely by ourselves. In total: 3 days for 3 rooms (!!) within the same city. That people shit the toilets and threw the contents of our bathroom cabinet together with a used (!!) toilet brush in a box was just a disgusting detail on the side.

Catastrophe! Top support until the date of the move. Then came the evil awakening! We have chosen a moving company from the middle price segment, Dachser and Kolb. A FIXED PRICE OFFER was explicitly negotiated with customer service (1790, - €), this was communicated several times, more later.
The moving company came late (9 instead of 8). Without any information from D&K, the order was placed with a subcontractor (HTT), the colleagues knew "nothing". No information about cubic meters and objects. The move took twice as long as estimated. Instead of until 4 pm until 9.30 pm. The number of cubic meters determined in advance by the customer advisor had DOUBLED after the move. Afterwards, D&K wanted me to pay an additional € 500 (total 2290, -) for the extra cubic meters and the additional time that you yourself had misjudged. The very best! The customer advisor suddenly couldn't be spoken any more. Seems like a scam to pull the money out of people's pockets afterwards. So be careful! There is no way I can recommend this company. There are still 2 stars because the poor movers can't help it. It was only after a month or so that we agreed on a settlement. Still a disaster.

THE MOVE TAKEN PLACE IN OVERLINGEN (distance approx. 1km); this cannot be entered in the mask.
On the two planned days (February 21 and 22, 2017) the employees will be late. An employee must be constantly monitored because he or she is putting the removal goods somewhere or giving them away; that costs money and a lot of time. At the end of a long day, I am forced to sign a lot; There are no copies. The bill for unpacking is higher than agreed, although less was unpacked; the entertainment electronics could not be connected because the inputs and outputs were not marked. For the rework (which takes a long time and is significantly more unprofessional than work by a specialist company) an invoice is issued that is disproportionately high; It was promised - under witnesses - that the connection of the entertainment electronics would of course be included in the price. For the damage (damage to the ceramic sink due to its unnecessary removal (it was suggested to glue it); veneer damage to a freshly refurbished, shellac-polished cabinet; Bose CD radio), compensation has only now been paid, from which the costs for the connection the consumer electronics were simply deducted: I hadn't paid this bill.
Do not sign anything under pay your invoice subject to the refund!

Everything started wonderfully with a tour of our old apartment and the inventory as well as the general query of the activities to be carried out as well as an initial clarification of dates. This seemed very professional and a relatively satisfactory package deal was created very quickly.
On the day of the move, the movers came quite early and with 3 men plus a driver in sufficient numbers to clear the 4 1/2 rooms. Unfortunately, one of the employees, who had only been with the company for a short time, had to be constantly observed and warned to be careful because he worked very sloppily and hastily. Of course he made it with a box too! GLASS CAUTION! to drop. Luckily we packed and padded ourselves and nothing was broken there. Unfortunately, the truck was too small and our large glass table (160x90cm) had to be dismantled, which was not what we wanted. The truck was filled up to the last MM, which ultimately led to several scratches and soiling on our furniture.
The arrival was relatively late and in order to protect the new neighbors we decided not to let the company set up one of the closets.
Unfortunately, the World Cup and the dryer, both very expensive high-end appliances from Miele, were not connected, as agreed, and were transported WITHOUT transport locks. We had warned about this 3 times.
After unpacking, we unfortunately noticed heavy soiling on several parts of an armchair and in the newly painted apartment "edges" were made in the walls when distributing the furniture. Some pieces of furniture were also pretty badly damaged during transport.
There were no copies of the damage report and the notification of the removal, which I then had to photograph with my mobile phone.
Last but not least, we complained about the damage which led to a very long and slow e-mail process and also received an invoice for consumables of over 100 € which was never mentioned in the package deal.
Dachser & Kolb was also unable to set off the compensation against the consumption bill, which is why we as customers had to do their extra work.
Stay away if you want a stress-free move!

We had to move due to the addition of our family in Kempten. For our move to our new home, we asked several moving companies from the region and ultimately decided to move with Dachser & Kolb.

Before we received an offer from Dachser, an appointment to view our old house was arranged with us. The relocation consultant arrived punctually for this appointment and left a competent impression. During this inspection, all the items to be moved were recorded by the relocation advisor, he found it a little difficult here, because at that time we did not know what we actually want to move and what may be thrown away.
On the same evening we received the written offer and a list of removal items by email, where all the details that were discussed during the inspection were clearly listed. Some of the other moving companies only gave us a final price where we couldn't see what exactly was being moved or done. Nevertheless, we had a question about this offer, which the service employee explained to us on the phone. In general, the service employees at Dachser can be reached quickly by phone and appear very friendly. Our concerns were always dealt with quickly.

Dachser & Kolb did not make us the cheapest offer, but the friendly service and the nice tour were worth more than saving around € 150.

On the day of the move everything went as previously discussed. The moving team worked quickly and cleanly, so that the move could be carried out in a full day. A second morning was originally planned for possible remaining work, which was then no longer needed. At short notice we were able to sell our old sofa, which we still had to bring to the buyer. This trip was not planned, so the team leader did not want to carry out this trip at first and passed us on to service. After a brief discussion, however, we were able to reach an agreement with Dachser & Kolb without any problems.

All in all, we are more than satisfied with the Dachser & Kolb moving service and can only recommend the service.
