City Moves

Used City Moves to move a large sofa bed from Carmarthen to Cardiff. The quote was golod but the service was better! Having collected a sofa bed from my parents they delivered it without delay and within the expected timeframe. Both delivery people were first class, taking care not to damage the sofa or my walls. Re-assembled the sofa bed, and even offered to re-hang my front door after I had removed it. Would recommend them anytime. It is nice to get good service, and with a smile.

Bearing in mind that I had more or less the same stuff moved 3 years ago without a scratch or a dent from Jersey with a few months storage too, the job done by CITYMOVES was appalling.First of all the 2 guys who delivered my stuff were more interested in ogling/making dodgy remarks about the school girls who were passing my house, and in texting/calling their friends/girlfriends. VERY PROFESSIONAL, I must say.I did tell them where to put most of the stuff, but I would have thought that anyone with a smidgen of brain could have guessed that boxes marked clothes or bedding should go in a bedroom upstairs not in the lounge downstairs.  I had to carry 14 larges boxes upstairs after they left.They did put one bed together, the easy one of course. To put the other bed together, I had to move all the furniture and boxes around it in order to make enough space. It all was stacked any old how. Have they never done a removal before or do they just not care at all?Downstairs, in the sitting room, I told both of them separately, where the TV, which is quite large, was to go. They just stacked a desk, a few boxes and some large shelves in and around that alcove and then the TV in front. And to make it even more laughable, they had the large glass TV stand the wrong way round. So, I had to move everything again.They also "dumped" a very expensive 1960 original Marshall valve amplifier outside with the garden stuff. It was clearly marked "fragile" and " This way up" but not only was it abandoned outside it was left on its side. I asked the to move it inside, telling them which way was up but they had to be told once again which way was up. I have also found my felt cutting machine worth £400, marked fragile on the top of the box, this too was stacked on it's side instead of the right way up. These 2 guys also dropped some of the shelves from my shelving units and as a result I now have shelves with crushed corners. I am also rather annoyed at the fact that one box of very fragile sculptures, which were packed by yourselves as requested, was actually marked as "very fragile, Do not stack on . But when I found it was under 2 heavy boxes of books!!  So far, I have not had time to check all the sculptures as I have wasted 2 days moving boxes before I could unpack them   My washing machine is a MIELE worth around £900. I did get a Miele authorised guy to disconnect it and put the 2 transit rods back in. When it arrived in Worksop one of your guys handed me a rod saying, I don't know where that came from but it must be yours. It certainly was mine and it was one of the transit rods from the machine. I know for sure that those rods do not just drop off they actually twist and lock in and they were put in right in the first place, I checked.  I also have an antique trunk (with a broken off castor wheel/leg, a dented toaster, a toasted sandwich maker with a broken leg, a scratched bedside cabinet, a broken plastic storage unit  and a smashed clay planter. This amazes me as those planters are quite thick, I would have understood a crack but this is truly smashed as if it had been dropped. I thought the team who picked up the goods in Wales were ok but perhaps not so, in the end. I did ask them to take care of 3 large oil paintings on boards. they said they would wrap them properly for storage, but they arrived with no wrapping whatsoever and the two guys who delivered them seem to think the were some odd bits of plywood from the way they were going to just treat them like junk. They have of course been scratched but taking pictures of that would be almost impossible as they are rather odd paintings. As for their value, well they cannot be replaced or restored. I also find really astonishing that 4 of the castor/wheels for the bed were neatly put in a plastic bag, 2 came loose and I am still searching for the other 2. Which means that after the effort of moving stuff around to make space for that bed, I still cannot finish the job! All in all I am really not impressed by the service provided at such high price. It just shows a lack of care and respect for customers possessions  I thought I should also mention that when my goods were picked up from the house I left there was a few pots in the open shed. The day after the pick up, I noticed that they had indeed picked up 4 medium size plastic and wood pots/planters but had actually left the most expensive one, a rather large fibreglass planter/trough although the other pots were in fact store on top of it. At the time I thought, never mind, I'm not going to ask them to come back just for a planter. I do wish I had now! When I called to complain about it they asked me if I had taken insurance as theirs do not cover storage! well I cannot understand how my stuff got damaged, scratched, dented, put in the wrong room/place, dumped upside down while in storage, unless they do have some sort of gremlins in their storage units.They actually had the cheek to tell me that my stuff was old anyway (I don't know many people who move house with only brand new furniture) My stuff was old, granted, but maybe it's too much to ask them to know the difference between old and antique, old and art work etcThey offered me £50 as a gesture of goodwill. Are they completely mad? In the end I was so tired and upset by the whole thing, I accepted, after a rather long and tiresome phone call, £300. Not a lot for someone's damaged possessions I know but that's what they rely on, someone like me too old and tired to fight.

Moving from Cardigan in Wales to Dorset. I had a full packing service and everything was carefully packed and labelled. Very pleasant and willing men.

At the new premises, items were placed where I wanted. Again friendly and obliging removal men.

The price was very reasonable for an excellent service.

There was no problem with short notice of the removal date and, when the pickup premises was viewed, the agent had the knowledge to suggest the use of two smaller vans as the road was narrow.

I can highly recommend this firm, they arrived early and explained how they planned on filling the lorry to ensure everything was safe and secure and to make sure everything got on (we had opted for a smaller van than the company recommended). The guys were friendly and polite, respected our property and our move day went smoothly. They unloaded our things to the relevant rooms in our new home, while being careful not to dirty carpets etc. Very pleased with the service and at a competitive price too.

Had a few similar quotations, no particular reason for picking this company. All companies were certified and confirmed liability insurance, for transit damage, etc. Paid for the first removal and the difference for going in to storage while I refurbished the new property. Had a prompt call to pay the next months storage fee. Arranged delivery for new address, company rang asking if I could change times/days and I agreed. Delivery arrived, things going okay until I noticed damage to a leather chair. Delivery guys were very helpful and checked it and found other marks. They took photos, rang the office and sent pictures straight over. Also discovered other damages, made a list and reported them to their office. When unpacking we came across a bag that had another address on it and noticed that we were boxes/items missing. This was also reported. Unfortunately several months later, this is still ongoing and not resolved. I was offered a small amount of money as compensation and told if we had taken out the Premier Insurance cover, all would have been sorted. I asked what was the Premier Insurance and explained it was the first time it had been mentioned?? This has gone on since May 2016 and still not resolved!!

First of all I live in a rural area so unable to find my village on the dropdown menu above. My move was from Gorslas in Carmarthenshire to St Clears in Carmarthenshire, roughly 20 miles away.

I sold my house before finding my new one so most of my furniture went into storage with Citymoves for 10 months. The pick up went very well with no issues to report other than to praise the removal men for their patience and courtesy. Nothing was too much trouble and they were very careful and put down sheets to protect the flooring. Two days after the move I realised that my printer had been taken into storage in error [I did not tag it]. I rang their office and was told they would try and find it in the storage containers and to ring back - they found it and I was able to collect it the same evening.

A few days before redelivery to my new address I spoke to their reps to confirm everything was alright and to ask them to call at my temp address to collect bits and pieces that were not in storage - 30 boxes plus a couple of TVs and a wardrobe bought during my stay. Again, nothing was too much trouble. The lads were excellent and they asked where we wanted everything and were very polite and helpful - they moved one wardrobe twice as my wife and I had crossed lines.

I was a bit worried that my furniture, soft furnishings and clothes would be in a sorry state after 10 months in storage but I was pleasantly surprised to see everything in good condition. I was told at the beginning that the containers were damp proof and kept in an air conditioned environment but after 10 months I expected some issues - there were none.

The staff are helpful and friendly and I can't praise them enough. They do exactly what they say they do.

I recommend Citymoves.

A very good service from CityMoves. The removal team had a excellent and helpful manner. They accomplished the move professionally and were careful with my furniture. They arrived at my new location even before I did and everything was off loaded and placed exactly where and as I wanted. Easy & hassle free despite it being the hottest day of the year! The rate was the best of a number of quotes, but this did not result in any less or diminished service. A big thumbs up and definite recommendation.

City Moves staff were very personable, which was why I made the decision to go with this removals company.
All the office staff & removals staff were very helpful and friendly.
They were efficient on the day they packed & took all the stress out of this aspect for my move.
On the day of the move, unfortunately one of the Luton vans broke down in transit to me, which meant only one van then available - this also developed some technical problems in my driveway, which delayed the loading process by 2-hours.
However, once they got started they didn't stop until they eventually finished at 22:00h!!
Jake was amazing, as he kept their spirits up & organised the other boys on the move day to ensure the move went as smoothly as possible.
I was recommended this company by a work colleague who has used them last year.
I would definitely recommend City Moves in the future, despite the last minute hiccups and a few minor damages to some old furniture, which has easily been rectified.

From start to finish we were pleased with the service. We were given a quote within days of home visit, very competitive price. We were unsure of moving day until 2 days before but they still accommodated us. Multiple phonecalls received to keep up to date with moving date. We would definitely recommend to anyone. On the day of the move they turned up as promised and got stuck in straight away. Worked solidly from 9am until 5.
Very professional service, no breakages or damage to old or new property. Nothing was too much trouble, even helped load and unload private vehicles. (Neath area).

Excellent service from a friendly and personable company. The quote was very competitive and the two men who attended to move the furniture were very attentive and conscientious. The move was uneventful; the men were diligent in ensuring the furniture was wrapped and protected for the transfer from Trimsaran to Hendy. The men unloaded the truck quickly and put all furniture exactly where we asked them to in the various rooms within the house. No furniture was damaged! I would recommend them to everyone.

Service was fantastic the removal men (3 of them) where fantastic and protected all of our heavy use items, I chose myself not to move any electrical (TV, Laptop, Xbox etc..) with Citymove but I would have done the same for any other company, mistakes happen and I preferred to move that myself.

On the day they turned up nice and early and we where fully packed by 11.30, they then went away and waited for our phone call when we had the keys, offloading took half the time and we moved into a 3 floor house so a lot of heavy objects being moved up 2 flights of stairs.

I would highly recommend them to family or friends.

04/09/2017 . I had booked this company for my home move and my friend was there to help. What a shambles . The movers arrived and my friend informed me that they did not know where I was moving to. Yes I did not pack some things properly, but the important items were packed with bubble wrap and labelled fragile. Despite this they managed to break a light fitting to the value of 50.00. Then they informed me they did not have any allen keys to dismantle my bed and table and chairs. I informed them this was agreed, but they said they were not informed and blamed the moving firm. I said they were employed by them, but they refused to budge and my friend had to buy a set of allen keys himself. They then went and sat in the van and did not get out until I challenged them that my friend was doing the work himself and he was due to go to an appointment. My friend dismantled the bed and the table which I had paid City movers for. Now they did reassemble the bed, but the bottom end was left loose and they did not attach the end to the correct holes which meant when I tripped in my bedroom I tried to grab the end of the bed, but it moved and I nearly fell over. My friend did so yesterday and has possibly injured himself as to have a broken arm. I would not recommend this company to anyone.

This company made our move very easy and after the stress of selling our house this was a joy .
The men turned up on time were very friendly and happy to deal with all our requests . They were extremely careful with all our belongings and quickly and carefully packed the lorry up .
They were the same at our new bungalow and swiftly but with great care unloaded .
I would recommend city moves to anyone I know that needs a removal company . Excellent communication excellent workers and very reasonably priced .

As a single mum moving I was terrified and didn't know what to expect.
This firm were so good, I wasn't fully packed and there was no rush.everything I asked was done, so friendly and they took all the hassle of me. I can not thank the 3 guys enough.
Nothing was damaged, everything was packed correctly so nothing was broke. They arrived on time and the move took so long because I had so much stuff, they weren't in a rush to leave, or pushy absolutely would recommend to anyone.
My family were so impressed by this firm that my sister has said she will be recommending to all her friends and colleagues.

Great service from this company, turned up on time and both guys were friendly and extremely helpful. They quickly loaded the van and were on their way. As I was moving from Wales to Scotland they arranged to deliver the next morning, and again they arrived exactly when they said they would. They dismantled and built some of my furniture with no issues. I had completed the packing and there was no damage to any of my furniture during the move. Would highly recommend.

Whilst I moved the majority of my possessions myself when moving home a month ago I could not work out a way of moving my standalone piano due to the sheer weight and size of it.

I decided to call in the professionals. I spoke to several companies, many of whom were not equipped or insured to move pianos.

I spoke to city moves and they were so helpful on the phone and very well priced.

They arranged to move the piano on my preferred piano.

Two men turned up on time and made light work of loading the piano using specialised equipment.

They met me at the other end and unloaded the piano with equal ease.

Being such a sentimental item to me I thoroughly checked the piano for any signs of even minor damage.

I could find absolutely no damage.

From start to end it was a pleasure dealing with city moves and I would most certainly use them again.

City Moves were very helpful from the word go. At very short notice they agreed to relocate us over 250mls in two days.
The team worked quickly and carefully to empty our old property and were really helpful and friendly. They never stopped, only requiring occasional cuppas.
The next day they were waiting outside our new property at 8am and everything was finished before 11. Everything was placed were we wanted it which has made life ever so easy since.
Thanks to the lads they were great
We would highly recommrnend.

The City Moves team were excellent on the day, great load in and unload, very professional. The estimator was great too. Communication between us and the office beforehand could have been better, they gave the estimator the wrong address despite me emailing to clarify the correct address and they confirmed the wrong load in time despite me asking for a specific time by phone and email weeks before. Despite these annoyances, we were very happy with City Moves overall and would use them again.
