Blood On All Kitchen Items.

They were dreadful
The guy that packed up the kitchen items had a cut thumb which we weren't aware of at the time, but they admitted to afterwards. When we unpacked it, we had 8 boxes of crockery, cutlery, and every thing else with blood on it. We complained to Bishop's Move who weren't interested, BAR weren't interested. On top of that their staff were obnoxious in their work, telling my wife she was silly in her choice of location for furniture. They also entered the new house without permission and started unloading before we had a chance to inspect it.

Would never trust this company again.

Came across this review site when looking to move. Used this company some years ago. For some time after we discovered we could not find things - DVDs missing from cases, a record collection from the 1980s, a suitcase, many small items. This was outside of the 30 days limit for reporting missing items, not surprising as settling into a new home takes time and these were items that would not be noticed for a while. I raised this on their facebook page - post was deleted and I was blocked: says it all really. I'm so glad I packed and moved some items of value, e.g. jewellery, in my own vehicle. Advise to check carefully when you unpack, go through EVERYTHING within their time limits.

UK to France.

I would like to give you some feedback. The move from the UK to the South of France went very well. It was coordinated by Sharon who kept in touch with us during the while process.

Peter (driver) and Craig who were with us for the week in the UK and France did an excellent job, had a great attitude and worked very hard. Also Peter’s driving skills were first class getting a very large truck down a very small French lane

I would like to thank them again

Will use Bishop’s / Masons again without hesitation.

Do not use bishop removals!

The company is very unprofessional. I have stored my belonging with this firm for a few months as they were cheap compared to other storage unit firms. I needed to get my stuff out a bit early but you need 48hrs in advance for them to allow access to your stuff. I asked them kindly whether they could waver the 48hr notice and allow me get to my stuff a little early. The person I spoke to exact words were 'I thought about and it and the answer is still NO!' They also damage a piece of furniture in the unit as when they opened it, I discoved the furniture cabinet had fallen over inside!!

Long-distance move from Guildford, Surrey to Guildford, Surrey

Quick but not friendly or careful.

I had Bishops Move undertake a house move, not including packing. The 3 men who did the move quick and hardworking: they loaded the van in 2 hours, and unloaded with some reassembly of furniture in about the same time. However I did not feel confident or especially comfortable with them. The lead mover was very moody and unfriendly, he seemed unhappy to be on the job and did not even know the names of the two other movers. His surly manner was really unpleasant for the duration of the move. They were not very careful about unloading and some items of furniture they did not ask me where to store, and they ended up in the wrong places but trapped behind boxes, resulting in a lot of work for me once they had left (I am a young woman on my own, and not very strong, so this was difficult). One large box of kitchen items had been turned upside down and there was a label from a previous move on the underside of the box, as a result of which the box ended up in my bedroom- while I should have checked the underside of boxes, there was no reason why the box of fragile items should have been turned upside down. Thankfully no damage but again, a lot of work to move the items myself. Other boxes had been very bashed about - I have undertaken several long distance moves and never seen so much damage, compared to this move which was a matter of moves. While they got the job done there is no way I'd recommend or use this company again.

Dont use Bishops Moves if you like your stuff!

I moved from the UK to Wellington New Zealand (the above doesn't give NZ option). The movers (Bishops Move) came, said they had forgotten the correct packing materials, loaded my stuff into the back of the van unpacked - threw (yes threw, one of my mugs that he had been using) into the van. When my stuff arrived 3 months longer than quoted, I paid tax on various items in NZ. Many of my things were missing, including some I had paid tax on. LCD TV, jewelery, brand new shoes, books etc. Some items were damaged (bed). I wrote to Bishops Moves who said they would look into my missing items and the complaints I had at the lack of professionalism of the workers, but 4 years later and - no reply, or compensation for my loss, no apology. My advice? Choose a different company.

Long-distance move from Southend-on-Sea, Essex to Edinburgh, Midlothian

Mixed experience.

Move from Southend to Perth, Scotland.

Southend property has 70 steps from house up to drive way. This was not communicated to removal men. 70 boxes furniture and electric piano carried in 3 hrs. Removal men worked like Trojans.

Our memory of the information reported to us: Upon leaving we were told that our lorry was going to Preston to pick up trailer en route. Lorry broke down in Norwich, goods swapped to different lorry. New lorry went to Liverpool, picked up 'empty boxes' . Lorry broke down twice more.

Delivery was scheduled Wednesday afternoon. Arrived Thursday morning. Bishops Move have reimbursed cost of overnight stay inc food.

Complaint letter acknowledged.

Personal service sold to us by franchise rep not matched by our experience. Lack of communication and transparency re logistics.
Will not be reusing or recommending.

Do not use them!

Absolutely appalling removal company. We had the packing service. My husband did the kitchen whilst the removal men had more cigarette breaks I care to mention. They also 'packed' our computer monitor in my wedding dress! Shocking. We also had someone Else's belongings when we came to unpack. Horrendous company. If we hadn't if done most of the leg work I think they'd still be unloading the lorry now.

Long-distance move from Portsmouth, Hampshire to Portsmouth, Hampshire

Shockingly bad.

Totally over priced.  Told me it would take two weeks to even arrange an estimater to come around and then said it would cost around £600 to move my two bed flat less than a mile.  In the end I got another mover in to do the job in just a few days time and it cost me £150 and that included a £20 tip for such swift and professional work.  I wouldn't waste my time with Bishops Move.

Rude, Dissrespectful & money grabbing.

Rude & Dissrespectful very poor customer service. Nothing was stolen which was good but several items were damaged. Bishops move attitude was, it's your problem for buying items which are fragile. Terrible customer service. Damage occurred to my property through neglegence and bishops move management attitude was that is we my fault for having people in my home. They did everything possible to weasel their way out of any acceptance of blame.

Bishop's Move removal Edinburgh.

I'm very pleased with the level of service received from the first call to book an appointment, the professional person who came and provided a quote, the support from the office team to deliver the packing. The communication for the removal date, the removal team that solved the problems on the day and stayed until all the boxes were transferred to the new address in the correct room! I'll recommend Bishop's Move to everyone and will use it for my next move. Thank you very much. A very satisfied customer.

Excellent performance on challenging Surrey move - highly recommended.

We moved locally last month to a house on a hill with 42 steps from road to front door. The team we were sent by Bishops Move, Crawley, although I'm sure were inwardly cursing our choice of new home, remained cheerful, friendly and highly professional under very challenging circumstances. I would not hesitate to recommend Bishops Move, Crawley, their service was faultless from quotation to completion. The quotation & timescale were very competitive but they also deserve to be highly recommended for their quality of service.

Damaged and stolen items.

I chose Bishops Move because I am an elederly widow living alone and, as it was a big move to a smaller house it seemed sensible to choose a famous firm that would be able to take care of me. I had a letter from them that stated their intention of taking great care ofwhat they considered to be valuable belongings.
However, many valuable items were ruined and several important items never even arrived. Sadly very little notice was taken of my many complaints, both written and spoken, about such an unprofessional job. One would have thought a large firm would have been very concerned about its reputation and also about the cmpetence of its staff. I felt that an elderly female client should have received greater consideration and that a man would have received more attention when complaining about loss and damage
I thought the staff were hard working and was very surprised and shocked when unpacking later revealed the usatisfactory state of affairs.
I assumed that this unusual outcome was caused by using untrained staff brought in to cover a large move. I would like to think that this would not be allowed in future to protect people expecting better care.

Fantastic service!

I don't normally write reviews, but I was surprised to see any bad ones about this company. It was the first time that I have used a removals company and Bishop's Move have been nothing but helpful from start to finish. We were putting items into store whilst renovating the house.
We used the Crawley branch and they collected the items promtly and quickly - they even put a plastic cover on the floor to protect the carpets! Plus the removal men were very polite and helpful. Yes one had a cigarette break with his coffee - but this was well away from the house and after the vehicle had been loaded - I have had worse from the builders we have employed!
All items have been stored for a couple of months and re-delivered with the same fantastic service. Can't recommend them highly enough!!

Disgraceful customer service.

I would seriously urge people to reconsider using this company. The men we were allocated were lazy, rude and unfit for their job. The Move took much longer than quoted and items were not correctly protected or packaged and much of the move had to be completed by ourselves due to them running out of time. Further still it has been two months since the move and I am still waiting to hear back from the company regarding my complaints. Honestly can’t believe this company operates as it does.

My and my partner had to plan a move abroad completely last minute and Sharon was an absolute gem. She was very flexible and made sure everything was organised properly and on time for our deadline.
Same for the delivery our belongings, very last minute and she was able to plan for a delivery in 3 working days.
Thanks again, life saviour!

Avoid at all costs.

Avoid!! I would never consider using this company, use Pickfords or anyone else. These guys are a disgrace..Absolutely NO communication or customer service. We moved recently from Gibraltar to uk. We were advised by the Gibraltar office to send our stuff 6 weeks before the move to ensure we could have it delivered the day we moved into the new house. En route back to uk we made 4 separate phone calls to confirm delivery time. Each time we were told they'd get back to us..no one did. On the Monday morning we phoned again only to be told that our stuff wouldn't be arriving for another 10 days!! Surely they knew that the previous week. So we have had to go out a shop for day to day essentials just to be able to live in our house an expense that we should not have to fork out. Our children have no toys/books/teddies or home comforts. Limit clothing and no washing machine. The next day our storage turned up, had to spend hours cleaning everything including our leather sofa which it had been suggested by one of the removal men that it had been wrapped damp (which makes sense as it was wrapped on our front lawn in the rain). Everything was covered in mould. Our American fridge which was in perfect working order is not cooling after a week.
I am currently sat waiting for them to deliver our removals which we were last week told would have been here yesterday afternoon and then changed to this morning..well it's now the Afternoon and still no sign. Also no sign of the promised phone call giving us an eta.
And also to add that our move to Gibraltar we sent our stuff early so it was ready at the other end. Phoned the week before only to be told that it had not even left the uk!! I would not use them again if they paid me and will be telling everyone that will listen and will review on every site I can. )The moving route shown on this review is wrong as there is no option for Gibraltar.).

Move from Paris to UK.

Bishops came up trumps for us and we are glad we ignored a couple of negative reviews. We know they were best on price and pre-contract relations. Sharon was marvellously helpful in preparing everything and organising the logistics over one of the most difficult periods with multiple bank holidays. The crew that packed and loaded in a tight space in France during a heatwave and the one that unloaded in torrential rain in the U.K. were very proficient, careful and cheerful. It all went like clockwork and it is hard to imagine that any other firm could have been better.

Very disappointed.

This isn’t the first time we’ve worked with the company and we were very happy previously, which is why we opted to use the service again. Now we are beyond disappointed.

We booked a shipment of personal items to be shipped from London to Progresso Port in Mexico. Bishop’s Move shipped to Veracruz without telling us, which is 1000 miles from us. They didn’t even seem to understand that they were different ports even claiming that there was not a port in Progresso.

This is all costing us a great deal, particularly as Bishop’s Move had no idea that only customs brokers, at the specific port, with specific certifications could clear personal items, meaning they kept insisting that we use the broker we originally employed in Progresso.

Over a period of weeks all we received were excuses and no explanations or assistance. The marketing department promised to investigate and get back to us. We’ve never had a reply. An international shipping company should have some idea of where they will be landing the items they are shipping and keep their customers informed. This did not happen and we are still in the middle of a nightmare, 8 weeks on, trying to sort this out. Given our previous experience, it seems their customer care has gone down the tubes.

Nightmare experience

This was the worst shipping company I ever used. They delayed my shipment by months, didn't keep me updated and ended up charging me for crating my goods when they hadn't done it. All I got was endless excuses and backtracking on arrangements. Terrible experience

Move size: Partial Move Service cost: £1300

Official company response

Dear Lagonda

We are sorry to read your review and have investigated this with our International team. Having looked through our correspondence and notes, we can see that our team did advise you at all stages of your move, even after you cancelled your shipment with us at the last minute. This was unexpected as, despite a slight delay with the initial loading of your shared groupage container, we were on track to deliver your items within the advised estimated time of 6-12 weeks, subject to routings and customs clearance (which is industry standard).

With regards to costs, we can assure you that you have not been charged "through the roof", but simply the costs for the services you have used; export packing, collection from your property, retrieval of shipment and storage. Unfortunately we could not reimburse your for crating, as this was only quoted as an additional service to which you did not opt or pay for, despite your above statement.

Plus, as a gesture of goodwill, you received approx 2 months of free storage and were also not charged for handling fees in and out of store, despite us incurring our own additional costs.

Everything arrived in perfect condition.

I wanted to thank you all for making a very stressful time much easier by providing such an excellent service.

I will gladly recommend you to any friends and acquaintances.

Do not use

Do Not Use. I asked for a quote for a full packing service and removal. I itemised every item of furniture to be moved from their checklist (and added some that didn’t appear on their list). I was asked to estimate how many boxes of packing needed. I estimated 60.

To cut a long story short the team moved most of our furniture but not all, and 12 boxes, leaving 53 behind.

The customer service trying to deal with this has been some of the worst I have ever experienced. I have been told that the reason so much wasn’t moved was because of the volume of items, something I was not asked to estimate. I estimated 60 boxes of contents and we ended up with 65 (within their 15% tolerance).

I dealt with 4 people in the run up to our move, I had to chase our quote. The responses to emails are rude and pointedly placing blame on me for something that they themselves have said they never asked me to estimate. I will never move again using Bishops.
