This morning I woke up to the sound of my five-year-old playing the piano… and honestly, it stopped me.

A proper full-circle moment.

When I was a little girl, I always wanted to learn the piano.

But it just wasn’t something that was possible back then.

So when we moved into our forever home 18 months ago, having a piano was always in the vision — but definitely not top of the budget.

Then something happened that never happens.

Someone in my husband’s work — where he’s been for eight years — mentioned they had a piano they didn’t want anymore. Free, if someone could lift it.

That has literally never happened before. It felt meant to be.

And of course, we called VK Removals.

These are the same team who moved us from Belfast in the height of COVID with a newborn, snow, ice, slippy roads — and not one complaint about my fairly chaotic packing. Just kindness and graft.

They collected the piano from Belfast, carried it down stairs, and totally impressed my husband’s colleague with how professional and easy they made it look.

Then they came to deliver it — and we’d a local wedding that day too.

And to top it all off, when they arrived, they couldn’t get into the house because our spare key wasn’t where we thought we’d left it ?

Honestly… only us.

But did they get annoyed?

Not at all.

They just found a solution, no stress, no drama, and left the piano safe in the garage.

I upcycled it — sanding, painting, giving it new life.

Then yesterday, in stormy, soaking-wet weather, the VK team came back again.

Soaked, smiling, blankets over everything, chatting to the children… and moved the piano to its new place inside our home.

What a company.

What incredible staff.

They’ve been with us through so many big moments — and now they’ve helped me fulfil a childhood dream.

Helped my partner and I with a move from North London to rural Galway! From start to finish couldn’t ask for a better service! Gave me a great quote and was available to answer any questions or queries I had during the entire process! I didn’t know the first thing about moving belongings and what was involved and they made it effortless and I didnt have a single worry during the entire process they took care of all paper work I didn’t even know I needed! Great time keeping and such genuine nice people that make your move personal and not just business! My belongings and boxes came in emaculate condition looked the same as they did when I packed them not one single mark on any of them they even repacked an item that I didn’t pack very well without it being an issue or a mention! Every interaction was like just speaking with a friend putting me at ease! Explained the entire process and made me feel as if no question I asked was a stupid question and explained a couple of things in a way that was clear and understood by myself! I can't speak highly enough of the professional attitude of Vinny and his team - house moving is a stressful time - especially for us with two young boys, we were run ragged for a couple of weeks or more packing.
When Vinny and his team arrived I was immediately put at ease - I could tell these guys were the real deal and knew what they were doing. Cue a big deep breath, its going to be alright!!

You can be completely assured that your valuables will be treated with the utmost respect and treated as if it was their own - this was evident by watching them work.
A Quality service is what they pride themselves on and I can certainly testify that they deliver in spades.

We used VK Removals in December 2018 for a full house move from Liverpool to County Down. From start to finish the service was outstanding. Karen was a great help in sorting the logistics and keeping me updated on how and when everything would be moved. Sarah and Mark arrived promptly and were a great help in both getting everything moved and stopping me from panicking (no mean feat a few days before Christmas)! Nothing was too much trouble. I can not recommend this company highly enough and wish them all the best for 2019 and beyond!

Excellent service. Karen was so friendly and easy to chat to, so accommodating when our completion date got knocked back. On the morning of the move Karen rang to advise they were on their way, and were right on time. From there on everything was effortless. TV and mirrors, pictures were all beautifully packed, and mattresses and sofas wrapped. Not one thing was damaged, and everything was transported to our new home promptly and without fuss. There was not one bit of stress involved in the whole removal process, it was all done with a laugh and a bit of craic. It was a pleasure to meet Karen and James, and we thoroughly recommend VK removals for anyone moving home.

I used the removal service to move from Belfast to Edinburgh and move back to Belfast from Edinburgh as well. I couldn't have had better service than VK removals. This is the first time I moved but Karen was extremely helpful and very informative. So it made my move much easier and stress free as well. I would definitely use their service and will strongly recommend to others as well. Used their storage facility to store boxes and additional items too. Thank-you so much to VK removals. They have helped me move my belongings from my flat in London to Northern Ireland. They were very quick to reply to my emails. And very helpful when I called. They removed the stress from moving. I had to work the day of the move and they helped me arrange to meet before I went off to work. They were very prompt and came before the time (I don't know how they did that in London traffic!) Even when my belongings arrived in Northern Ireland they helped unload them and were on time. Wow what a pleasure to work with this company.
Vinnie & Karen were absolutely fantastic.
Communication was excellent, being nervous about our move we had many queries and called their office a lot and always got helpful information from Karen.
I needn’t have worried because on the day of our removal the guys arrived on time at 7am as promised, they had us boxed, packed and loaded by 1pm.
A 4 man crew as promised with Vinnie being one of them.
We met Vinnie & Mark that night on the boat and again as promised they arrived Shortly after 730am in Belfast and with a mix up we had to wait to get the keys of our new home until 9am.
Vinnie said they would wait which was a relief.
All 4 beds and 1 triple wardrobe were fully assembled again and all boxes were placed in their respective rooms.
Very efficient in the way they mark each box while packing them and great for us when unpacking.
Our piano was the icing on the cake as it was set up in the hall and so well cared for on its journey.
This company is professional, efficient and I’ll be recommending to family and friends.
I hope we don’t move again but if we do it’ll be VK Removals we will be calling.

Just moved our family from Manchester to Derry with VK removals. Cannot recommend them enough. 5 star service from when we made the booking, even helped with getting us some good quality packing materials. They also provided new mattress protection covers and blankets for furniture. Early start both days with smooth load and unloading and professional experience. I would not hesitate to use VK removals if moving again. They helped to keep the calm throughout an otherwise stressful process.

What a fantastic team, Sarah, Shay and Manuel. They are amazing and they are very efficient! We moved on Wed 18th Dec and what a horrendous day, gale winds and lashing rain but we did it, they pushed through, and handled everything with care and speed. They strapped wardrobes, covered mattresses and they even had stair coverings to protect the carpet in my new house! I am so impressed by their work, these folks done in 5 hours, what others would take 7 or 8! Not a mark on anything, nothing was too much trouble, a all round fantastic, very professional team!
