Long-distance move from London, Greater London to London, Greater London

Avoid at all cost.

The movers arrrived 5 hours late with a van that was too small. When they delivered to the new house they put all the goods into the lounge and told us that they would move the furniture into the rooms on the 2nd trip. The 2nd trip never happened. We were called to say that the van was redirected to another job in guildford and they would try and complete the job after midnight. Management were not answering any calls and when I explained that the building bylaws prohibit any moving after 9pm the answer was " its that time or nothing". We subsequently had to get another company to complete the move.

Long-distance move from London, Greater London to Reading, Berkshire

Do Not Use This Company.

Although we moved house on the 10/04/12, the stress caused by Stallion Movers incompetance and negligence started one week before our move date due to their lack of contact and inability to provide us with the promised materials and to some extent, continues even now (27/01/14). No date was given for their arrival, but on calling both of our 'estimators' we were told 'yes we'll sort that out for you'. Nothing however happened. The boxes we had been promised and later had to pay for didn't arrive until 2 days before our move. I am sure you can imagine how stressful this was.
That stress became unbearable on the move day. Having moved previously, and moved ourselves, we are not unaware of how stressful a move can be, however, the stress referred to here was as a direct result of the fact that they were in breach of contract from the moment they arrived (if not beforehand as they were late). 2 men arrived, not 3/4. The wrong truck arrived, it was half the size it should have been. No furniture was wrapped or protected. I was reduced to tears on numerous occasions that day and made to feel sorry for the removals men who made it very clear that they were 'doing us a favour' to the point in which I (5'5 29 year old girl) helped them move a block of kennels which they then lent against the Landlords fence having been told specifically not to, and then both myself and my boyfriend emptying the sheds and garage although this was more of a time issue as they arrived so late.
To cut an excessively painful and long story short, they didn't get us into our new property until 11.30PM that night. We were told we would be in by 16.00. The removals men were in part, rude, and confrontational about a number of issues. We felt pressured into paying (we were offered a £50.00 discount, pitiful) and in hindsight I wish we had not paid at all as what after all, were we paying for?? Every item of our furniture was damaged. Every single piece. I cannot put into words how that made us feel, many of the items damaged had huge sentimental value and thus will never be replaced properly. It was devastating. They damaged the property we moved out of and also the one we moved into. Scuffs and scratches, deep gouges, etc. They did not, as promised, put our items into the appropriate rooms, nor did they put the dining table and various other items back together. They only begrudgingly put our bed together (what they thought we would sleep on I do not know) when my partner started to get really angry about it all. It was absolutely appalling.
After the move it got worse as I was increasingly depressed about the lack of contact and the damage to every piece of furniture in every room. I could not spend prolonged periods alone in the new house as the damage to the furniture was so upsetting. I had trouble sleeping as I lay awake thinking about it and getting myself worked up into a state of anger and frustration. This may sound extreme, but trust me there is nothing like being ripped off in such a way. I sent seven emails of complaint to the email address above, and called the 'office' more times than I can count, but never did I get a satisfactory response. In effect, I was 'fobbed off'. I cried almost every day as I was so distraught by the entire experience. Finally we spoke to a Solicitor about the situation. We were advised to get quotes for the repair/replacement of our damaged items which we did. The Solicitor also looked at their website (which now I cannot find??) and said that whilst it was very professional looking, that as there is no reference to them being a registered company that we would have a very hard time tracking them down, or tracking someone down from this company who could be held acountable. She also said that we would have to weigh up the costs involved. The cost of employing her and potentially a team to locate Stallion Movers and then the legal costs and the time it may all take, in respect of how much it would cost to simply claim on our contents insurance.
In the end, we claimed on our insurance and were awarded £8,812.27 VAT for the damage Stallion Movers did. Eight thousand eight hundred and twelve pounds and twenty seven pence plus VAT. Just think about that figure for a moment. As contents insurance that obviously did not cover or include the damage they did to both properties. As nice as that figure was in terms of some form of monetary repair, we had to pay an excess and clearly Stallion paid nothing. As far as I know, our contents insurers are STILL trying to locate and claim this money from Stallion Movers.
In all, it took TEN MONTHS to semi-sort out this horrible experience. That's from the month we moved until the month we were awarded this sum. This experience with them ruined our enjoyment of the property they moved us into, to the point in which in part two months after being given the money to repair our items, we moved again. Our association with the house they moved us into had been tarnished by the horribly stressful and hugely upsetting experience we had with Stallion Movers.
If at any point anyone successfully locates this company and puts a legal case together against them, then feel free to ask me for a statement. If you are moving house, then please learn from the above. Get business cards from every company you meet, get email quotes, visit their offices if possible, speak to past customers, check and recheck online, and if all else fails, and like us you simply lose your faith in the honesty and integrity of people in general then move yourselves.
We moved again in April 2013. We hired a van and must have done at least 3 loads in it, plus multiple car loads. Yes it took forever and I physically nearly hurt myself a number of times (I don't recommend this, rope your friends and family in too if you can), but there was nothing like shutting the front door that evening, all of our furniture moved successfully, tired and aching, opening a bottle of wine and toasting ourselves and our new home. A far cry from collapsing in tears on a damaged leather sofa surrounded by boxes meant for other rooms and furniture ruined by people whose attitude still makes your eyes water and fists clench.
Good luck to all of you out there, new homes are meant to be enjoyed.

Long-distance move from London, Greater London to London, Greater London

Unprofessional and dishonest.

I ordered and paid for 4 packing and 4 delivery men during two days and only got 3. No wonder they broke an antique lamp shade, did not cover the floors as promised, made shortcuts when wrapping tableware and were late when arriving at destination. Still they had time to nick a camera, an ipod and some other small items. If this was not enough they even dumped a notable amount of rubbish at our old house. Any complaints were ignored and the promised compensation for the lampshade stayed unpaid. .

Stallion movers.

The company should never be used, they are a bunch of cowboys, turned up 6 hours late, smelling of booze, showed no respect for the furniture, could not get any one to answer the phone in the offices or mobile numbers that I was given. They damaged furniture no organization skills, put things in the Van then took thinks out, stacked most of the furniture in on the drive way, then re loaded some items into the van, clearly the van that was sent was to small, so they had to make 2 trips(lucky it was a short distance) They then off loaded all 60 boxes into the garage. Furniture was put in the rooms, ot re assembled (as paid for) they requested to put the boxes in the rooms as marked, yes later away later, at 1 am they said that they had had enough and were leaving, furniture left in pieces , boxes on the drive and in the garage, furniture damaged, no one to answer the phone, wife in tears.  WELL DONE COWBOYS. Andy did answer his phone and promised to deal with the issue but never did 3 days later they still will not respond.    .

Excellent.

I just wanted to briefly share my experience with stallion. my work requires me to move a lot and having done many moves over the past 13 years I have pretty much seen them all. the chap who visited me suggested a furniture wrapping service which piqued my interest as I had never had that before. something so simple made a massive difference on the day. not a single scratch was found by our forensic team in here! overall they were far better than many of the big boys I've used, highly recommendable.
