Avoid, avoid! - extremely stressful.

[NAME EDIT] appeared to represent a professional and experienced removal company, but we found this could not have been further from the truth.
She ordered a truck that was no where near large enough. This resulted in our belongings being scattered outside and in the stairwell of the apartment block on moving day, causing inconvenience to our neighbours who at times could not even pass to get to their homes. The second truck did not turn up until around 3pm. We were meant to have vacated the property by 2pm.
The removal men spent the whole day arguing and could not work as a team. One of them had never done a move before and he was the better one of the two! They dropped my fridge down the central stairwell causing major damage. No compensation has been received despite documentation stating our belongings were insured during the move and an inventory list accurately completed. During the initial assessment we were informed a clothes rail would be used, however our clothes were first of all laid on the floor of the truck and then hung against the dirty walls of the second truck. I had to phone [NAME EDIT] repeatedly before a clothes rail was found a put to use.
I have moved house many times in my life including moving country twice and have never experienced such a stressful day as this.

Official company response

We take great pride in delivering the highest levels of customer satisfaction at all times, so we are very sorry to see your feedback here. We are not completely clear as to the specific reasons for your frustration, as the service we provided was what was agreed on the signed acceptance form, which you completed. Please find our comments below to your new raised issues which were not apparent previously in complaint.

As you can appreciate moving from a floor flat with no lift, we require moving furniture downstairs to the ground floor and then using the tail lift to raise the furniture into the vehicle. It would be impossible to pick up furniture and carry down the stairs and straight in the vehicle without a rest regardless the strength of the worker.More importantly on the removal day, it was raining and therefore not practical to leave furniture to get wet on the pavement as there was a small carry to the parking.

Further to vehicle we offered a split vehicle option as your parking was restricted for a lorry at the old property due the local train station commutators and therefore you had two vehicles which confidently fitted everything in a single trip move to your new property. We acknowledge we were slightly behind schedule due to the heavy rain which delayed the load up process however this was beyond our control.

We do agree the fridge was registered to be knocked against the wall and incurred a small dent on the corner side and not dropped. This was confirmed to still be in good working condition abeilt the light dent. We offered our sincere apologies and offered a sum value of compensation in accordance to inventory list documentation your signed contract however you declined our offer. We offered a full explanation of the breakdown of the insurance policy as the fridge is still in working condition and we cannot control the outcome of the insurers as there is a procotol they follow. However you refused the fair settlement and demanded more money.

Further the clothes rail this was provided and made up in the vehicle. Please see attached your removal pictures on the day confirming the status. This can be viewed in their original format for clarity with times &dates. As explained on the visit, a single clothes rail is free of hire on the removal day and can be used to accommodate up to 6ft long of hanging clothes or less. Equally, as your property was a flat with stairs and with no lift, it would be impossible to make this up in the property and carry down the stairs. Your cluster clothes were carried quickly to the vehicle, layered on the blanket ensuring these is did get wet in between the time taken to raise the tail lift and down to the rail. The staff member then stacked and hung the clothes onto the rail. The
time between your pictures at 3.33pm and the completion of stacking of clothes
was 3.57pm. Therefore indicating no repeating requests but a misunderstanding
on how this system works.

We feel as you have not received the full outcome of compensation, you have given the impression of a terrible service when this is simply not the case.

Our offer of compensation is still open and to resolve this fairly.

Good Value and Very Pleased.

[NAME EDIT] came around and made an inventory of everything we had and also advised us on what to pack ourselves and what would be packed by the movers.. We had opted for the full packing service.. One day packing and one day moving. Was in constant contact with the removal company before the actual move date.. The day before the move, [NAME EDIT] and [NAME EDIT] came with packing stuff and I was more than happy to leave them packing up the house whilst I went out to run errands on moving.. They moved some of the larger items like sofas and dining tables on the packing day so there was more space to organise the smaller things.. Everything was packed into boxes according to room.. On the day of the move I left them to fill up the van whilst I was able to sort the house out.. They unpacked everything into the correct rooms, put the furniture back together and left everything neat and tidy. There was only one broken thing in the whole move which was a pleasant surprise. For a reasonable fee they also disposed of a number of large items that I no longer needed from the new house.. I had read some of the negative review and was a bit apprehensive but in the end it all went well.. All the moving boxes and clothes rail were provided and they are picking up the used boxes this week to dispose of them.

Stressful Move.

We hired this company on the 13th of November for a house move between Bromley to Orpington .

Avi & Jay are the people I was in touch with Jay being the person who did the Inventory Visit.

In order to be fair I would like to write the positives of the company first (won’t take long ) This was pointed out to me by Avi in one of our many heated telephone conversations through the afternoon that reviewers are biased in their comments and never highlight the great & the good of a company .

The pro IS - delivery of box’s & bubble wrap about 10 days before the move with them being the first company to return our call and doing the inventory ( which unfortunately led to issues later ) .The end.

The cons ARE
1/ delayed start - agreed verbally over the telephone with Jay the previous day for a 9:00 clock start . The time on the agreement was 10:00 but arrived 11:15. This was disputed later .
2/Wreckless handling of the goods - our sofa bed was supposed to be dismantled instead it was broken . They had the guile to argue afterwards that we had been informed that the sofa arm had to come “off “. They did not apologise for the broken arm . We declined their offer to reassemble it as it would not be useable anyway but they then wanted confirmation from us later on that we wouldn’t chase them for repairs for insurance purposes. We were so fed up & did not look forward to dealing with them further ,we just let it go .
3/ on arrival at the property the drivers told us (as seems to be the running theme in their dealings from previous reviewers) that we had included “additional” furniture that was not part of the inventory and to pay upfront 120£ over the 300£ that was agreed in order to release our items.
We refused to pay up & there was a stand-off for almost 2 hours with their van on our driveway . All this while multiple angry telephone conversations with Avi & Jay ensued.
We were told they would start charging us for holding up their van with our goods for which we replied they could take our stuff but we would involve the police .
In the end they relented and our things were released with us not having to pay the additional sum but the original sum of 300£.
4/ Jay & Avi need to work on their customer service skills - it was like speaking to 2 different people after we decided to use their company
5/ Jay NEEDS to show us a copy of the inventory or take pictures if needs be of the furniture & either discuss it with us then and there or , send it to us along with the agreement to avoid confusion & consternation later on .
I suspect from the previous reviews & our experience that it is by design, a tactic that the inventory list is purposely omitted in order to demand more as it then is his words against ours .

Hopefully Route Removals heed the customer reviews & make the necessary changes but till then I would not like anyone to experience the hellish day we did .

Long-distance move from London, Greater London to London, Greater London

Worst day of my life.

[NAME EDIT] was the sale rep that gave us a quote and promised us good quality service. We paid for a full packing service with furniture to be dismantled and reassemble. Pre-move they did not fully pack up the flat as we asked, on the day of the move did not have tools to dismantle the furniture (we had to go out and buy tools), turned up late (which meant we were late in leaving - picked up keys at 1pm but didn't finish packing until 3.30pm) and had a few items, such as mirror/pictures still not properly wrapped up. [NAME EDIT] on the phone, wouldn’t listen to our complaint, drove off with our things, made up that we put their employees in danger by blocking their van (how did they drive off if we did) and wouldn’t return them even when we paid - which we were so unhappy to do. Would never recommend this company at all.

Service cost: £900

Official company response

We are more than a little surprised you have seen fit to submit such a disingenuous review of the service you received from us. We tried our best to follow-up by
phone on the day however you refused to listen.

Firstly, you had the packing service booked in for 3 days prior to the removal day and requested some items to be left as would be using them over this time. On the packing day evening we followed up with a satisfactory call when you returned back from work which you confirmed everything was in order & packed as per your post it notes instruction and, just raised that how a storage cupboard was yet to be packed. We explained that the items such as kids toys, hoover ,shelve, bags could be taken as they were. We have these pictures to view for inspectionfor the complete packing service.

On the day of the move we brought our tool box however your brought bed required a particular tool in which we did not hold and neither did you have the original. So you advised that you would goout and purchase.

Further to departure from the old property, we were completed by 2.15pm (which was in line with the schedule) and you suggested that you would go and collect your kids from school on route and meet us there. Our team went off to get lunch and we parked outside your property till you or husband arrive.

During this time you rang our office negotiating reduction on the final payment outstanding as it was time to pay the balance. You raised and highlighted that you should get some discount on the service so far and this should be applied now on payment. We advised that if you have any disputes there is a formality to follow and this must be written and investigated. We explained that on the basis of your complaint we had adhered to the terms of agreement and honoured the contract and will not be bullied that you would post defamatory statements across the website.

During this time our staffs were parked outside your property waiting for this matter to be resolved however you refused to listen. On many occasions you hung up on us, maybe the reception during that time and stated that you were not going to pay the full
balance.

During the repeated calls backto you and with no answer, your husband turned up in his hired van from ‘ACE’ coincidently blocking our vehicle and cropping very close. We were very concerned as only hours before he had the knocked wing mirror of the hired van and so we reserved out with difficulty. We are confident we if contact ACE Van hire they can confirm damage to wing casing mirror on that day to that vehicle in your possession.

At RouteRemovals we do not tolerate this behaviour and certainly won’t be intimated or
threatened to receive discounts when we have fulfilled the contract . We welcome the opportunity to discuss the issues however we yet are waiting for your contact to raise your points than you felt passionate about on the removal day. We are more than happy to arrange an independent arbitrator to help resolve both parties concerns.

Avoid at All Costs!!

Before the move, these guys seemed professional and accommodative. However on the day of the move, they became increasingly rude and brash as the day progressed. One of the characters [NAME EDIT] was particularly aggressive and began to intimidate my wife, who felt threatened by his behaviour. At the end he created a noisy ruckus outside the house and bashed his removal van against the side of the house, resulting in permanent damage to the plastering of the house.

They rushed off the property without giving us a chance to review their work, and it was only after they left did we realise they had damaged an expensive piece of furniture. And neither did they reassemble the king-size bed or dining table properly (as the legs are shaky), nor properly site the washing machine. At the end, we were left with having to sort out the mess they created- despite having paid them a fortune.

Despite having pointed out the damaged plastering on the house caused by their removal van, there was no apology and no offer to repair the damage they created.

The purpose of this review is to warn all prospective movers about this rogue group of clowns who claim to be removers- AVOID ROUTE REMOVALS AT ALL COST! They came across as being most unprofessional, aggressive and rude. And [NAME EDIT] in particular is a dangerous character to be avoided at all costs- he needs to urgently attend anger management class and learn how to speak to women; he lacks any concept about customer relations.

Official company response

We take great pride in delivering the highest levels of customer satisfaction at all times, so we are very sorry to see your feedback here. We are not completely clear as to the specific reasons for your frustration, as the service we provided was what was agreed on the signed acceptance form, which you completed. We receive no direct complaint from yourself in regards to these issues in writing or verbally and when trying to contact yourself you did not want to discuss the review. Please find our comments below to your raised issues.

When we arrived to your property on the day of move there were many other items that you wished us to take. We offered to take these items for a small fraction of money as to which your wife refused and said she would take them herself. We dismantled all of the agreed items and loaded all of your items onto the van.

We arrived at your new property and began to unload. We reassembled your items which we were dismantled and you had checked each one and confirmed that they were okay. We then went to connect your washing machine up but come to a realisation that the old owner’s washing machine was still plumbed in. As per to your confirmation agreement we informed you that we had not agreed to a clearance and would disconnect the washing machine for a small sum. You then became rude to the members of staff and got very angry and aggressive.

We had our vehicle parked on your driveway for unloading however when we went to leave
your vehicle was parked across the drive in front of our vehicle. We asked you politely when the job was complete for you to move your vehicle so the removal vehicle could get off the drive. You then proved difficult and awkward and then seemed to be pushing our staff for them to carry out further service outside of the contract free of charge. Then after a short while two men appeared which then started getting aggressive, rude and started displaying threatening behaviour as well as your wife and yourself. You carried out this act as you were unhappy that we would not disconnect and take away the washing machine that was left by previous owners. We do apologise that the tone of our staff may have not been acceptable as claimed, this may be due to the above situation.

The damages to your wall were reported by our staff to have already been there when arriving at the property. There is no evidence to state whether this was there prior to the removal. We have also inspected our vehicle and cannot see any damages. Nor have we been contacted by any insurance company. We are pleasantly surprised that we have not received anything in writing or verbally regarding damages and customer care direct from you until we have been made aware by this review.

We have tried to reach out to you to sort this issue out but as per your email but within your response it seems from the tone you do not want to pursue of settle these issues.

Avoid at all cost and quotes.

I wish I read the reviews before. Pretty much reflects all the points stated in the bad reviews.
Nothing was assembled in delivery. We were also asked to dismantle on the day of moving. Some of the larger items were just dumped in the garage of our new home. The men were passing the blame on each other. Main person was very rude. The van was smaller. Even after assessment of the property. In short avoid please.

Service cost: £900

Official company response

It has taken a long a time to chase our records to find who you are as there is no
name details for this review?

We have reviewed your legal contract document which you have signed and agreed and (in
which is available for inspection) that you DID NOT REQUEST OR PAY for an additional service for dismantling &reassembling.

Equally, you moved from a larger property into a smaller residence, therefore on the day
there were issues about fitting furniture which was too large, which you did
not consider or raise to us when we had the home assessment. We tried our best to
accommodate but if furniture does not fit in a property, it simply does not and,
therefore we had to place in the garage until you decided next.. As you can appreciate
if you enfolded information about your new property we could have avoided this
frustration in the shortfall .

It is unfair that we being accused for not carrying out a service when you have not paid for this or requiring this upon agreement. Secondly we can not be liable for your furniture not fitting in your new home when it is too large.

Outstanding Service and thanks again.

I just want you all to know how grateful I am for you guys. I had been cancelled by another moving company due to the fact they were overbooked. I then rang around frantically and came across Route Removals who came out the very next day and gave me a quote. He was very thorough and told me exactly what to expect and how everything would be packed and taken care. On the moving day the two gentleman expeditiously moved all of my items into my apartment and when our sofa did not fit into the lift, located the nearest stairs and offered another service. The team worked well together and provided speed and efficiency.

Poor service.

How this company are still trading is beyond me!!.
The van arrived and was clearly too small the driver agreed. We were moving from England to Wales, so had a long drive ahead, we had to get everything out of the house and leave it on the pavement with the removal men while they waited for the second van, by the time they reached the new house it was gone midnight. Things were smashed and when I contacted Jay the manager he told me he should have charge me another £500 for the second van and to go to B&Q and buy new ones!!

Do not use this company of you want a smooth move.

Amazing Service.

Brilliant service and brilliant price! I was sceptical based on the reviews but they turned up on time, worked so hard in the cold/snow and did an amazing job. I couldn’t recommend them highly enough. I had bought a few extra items after they provided a quote, this was no issue as they still moved them with a small charge which was very fair. I came to Route Removals at short notice and they still managed to book me in on the day requested. They couldn’t of provided a better service. Moving has usually been so stressful but they took this stress away. I highly recommend them and would use them again. Extremely efficient, helpful and professional and nothing was too much trouble. Such a shame that only people review companies when they have a complaint, far too much negativity. Thanks again, Mary.
