Do not book this company

I selected Range Relocations out of three removal companies as Lee was the most responsive and the most competive out of the three. About 3 weeks in advance I paid a 50% deposit on the agreed price for the removal. I never received a receipt for this. I also said that we would probably need 6 months storage. In the end we did not require storage as we were offered a different accommodation than anticipated. Having lost out on the storage turned Lee into a very aggressive , rude and abusive person.

Moving house is one of the most stressful things one can do and things can change last minute. Lee asked me a day before the agreed moving date to send the rest of the money within one hour. I duly paid him even though this request came totally out of the blue. The agreement was to pay the rest on the day of removal. Again, for the rest payment I also did not receive a receipt. At the end Lee charged us another £500 for storing some of our goods with a local storage company. The whole day was an unforgettably horrible experience due to the money grabbing and totally unhelpful removal company. Not to be recommended at all.

Cheers Chaps.

We recently moved from London to Clitheroe in the Ribble Valley and wanted to take the hassle out of the move. We searched on Google and found Range and having called a few others found Range to be very well priced and extremely professional-sounding. I have to feel a connection with someone who works with me and I instantly found with Leon he was professional but also friendly and reassuring. They were punctual which is a huge deal for me and kept us in the loop all the way. They moved us to Clitheroe with no fuss whatsoever and we even had a brew and a butty (That's a sandwich up North) before the lads set off back. Real gents and if you ever need a quality firm to make the move that little be less stressful you won't go far wrong hiring Range.

Scammers

These people are experts at scamming customers, you give them business and they extortionate money for walking away from the job, without doing any work, asking for £150/hour per man and when you refuse they walk away from the site ,then have the audacity to ask for more money via the civil court for work they have walked away from, absolutely disgraceful, that's what happened to us this week,on Monday ,they have obviously used this tactic before, the mouthpiece incharge does nothing but dictate to the customer, tell the customer if you don't do this we will extortionate money from you,I ask everyone who uses these guys do not part with any money up front

Told to "go to court KAREN"

Range Relocations were unclear about their services and charges, and when I raised a reasonable query I was met with multiple unprofessional emails. Because of the unclear charges (their terms contradict what they will ask you to agree to in an email quote), I remained respectful and asked for my deposit to be refunded (which I paid only the day before) but was told to "go to court KAREN".

I took their advice, and the court ruled in my favour in November.

This could have been avoided by Range Relocations communicating more clearly about their VAT charges and, when a customer raises a reasonable query, Range Relocations could engage respectfully and issue refunds when there is a reasonable and fair reason.

I was out of pocket and had to rearrange a move at short notice, as well as having to deal with the small claims court.

I would recommend avoiding Range Relocations or, if you have to use them, spend time carefully comparing what they ask you to agree to (by phone and email) with their terms and conditions. If you happen to misread or misunderstand anything, be prepared for poor customer service and for Range Relocations to take every opportunity to retain any payments you have made.

UPDATE:

I had a really bad experience with Range Relocations and just want to warn others.

When I first booked with them, things seemed okay — but their pricing and terms were really confusing, especially when it came to VAT. I asked a simple question about it and, instead of explaining, they sent me a bunch of rude emails. One of them literally told me to “go to court, KAREN.”

So… I did. And I won. The court ruled in my favour and they had to pay back my deposit and other costs but it tooks months and the court had to seize money and order their bank to send it to me.

All of this could’ve been avoided if they’d just been polite and clear from the start. Instead, I was left out of pocket, had to sort out a last-minute move, and go through the hassle of small claims court.

If you’re thinking about using this company, be really careful. Double-check everything they send you — their emails didn’t match their terms and conditions. And if you ask a question, don’t expect friendly customer service.

Wouldn’t recommend at all.

Lovely crowd

We used these guys for a full service

They sent a quote and listed everything offered

Each service so we could choose the service we wanted

They even sent a paragraph on packing incase we decided to do it for ourselves

The office were very accessible and accommodating answering our questions and keeping us updated on the day of our move

Very happy we chose this company and wouldn’t hesitate in the future to use again

DO NOT book with this company.

From start to finish, this company were unprofessional, rude, inconsiderate and cut corners to suit themselves.
I had searched for reviews on them before booking and saw mostly good ones, some even referred specifically to [NAME EDIT], the gentleman I had been emailing regarding my move. There one or two bad reviews but it was by far the best quote I had and I wanted to save money- big mistake! I wish I had spent an extra £100-£200 as to avoid dealing with them.
A trip from Brighton to Warrington for a 1 bed flat was quoted at £714 including VAT. [NAME EDIT], told me he didn't need to come to the flat and review the belongings. I sent a detailed inventory anyway. I had booked months in advance. I sent over a £150 deposit and reviewed no confirmation email, invoice or receipt. I queried this and asked for a receipt- eventually having to chase this up 5 times. It was only when I had emailed threatening to withdraw my deposit and look for another company was I then sent one.
The night before the move, [NAME EDIT] rang me and asked about parking. Something which, if he had done his job in the first place, he would of known about. I said, that since I had booked a luton van, parking wouldn't be a problem. [NAME EDIT] then told me, due to a larger job they had booked in straight after mine, he was bringing a larger vehicle. This, as the customer, was not my problem and he would have to sort parking out, especially since it was around 12 hours until they were supposed to move me. At this point, my hands were tied. [NAME EDIT] then went on to ask how many boxes I had (which I had already emailed) I said around 20. He rudely said "well its four floors so is it 20 or 60?". I was shocked by the rudeness, but again, my hands were tied and he knew it. With 12 hours to go I couldn't book anyone else for this job. He then went on to tell me he would arrive between 9-10am. I had booked and been confirmed an 8am arrival. I questioned this, to which his response was "Do you want your deposit back? I get the impression we are never going to appease you, you seem like THAT sort of customer." !! I replied by saying, no, I needed the service and would see him between 9-10am. I had no choice and [NAME EDIT]knew full well I had no choice.
The day of the move. Surprise, surprise, more issues. Me and my Dad are organising awaiting his arrival. 8:30 phone call from [NAME EDIT] telling me he was stuck in non-moving traffic on the M23 and might not be able to make it and that it would be a good idea to ring round and see if anyone else was available! THE MORNING OF MY MOVE! He said he would call back with an update. In a panic, I started ringing round. No luck. I checked the M23 traffic, no issues at all. [NAME EDIT] then called back and said it had miraculously cleared and he would be 45 minutes. I assume he had trouble getting hold of a second man and managed to get one at the last minute.
He arrived. Moaned about the parking. Me and my Dad came up with a solution which was extremely obvious. [NAME EDIT] and his partner (a polite and lovely young man) were slow at loading and so myself and my Dad ended up doing the vast majority. I refused to do any furniture or large items though- surely this is what I'm paying for!
Finally they set off. We set off just after. Traffic was bad but I arrived at my new flat and awaited the arrival of the van at my mums house. [NAME EDIT] calls. He has now run out of driving hours and will have to stop over night, with all of my possessions, and drop them off in the morning. I have since checked this and he had plenty of time, despite traffic, to make the delivery. The truck stop he used was a mere 14 miles from the final destination! I told him I wanted my belongings as soon as possible in the morning. We agreed 6:30am. He arrived. He unloaded and thank goodness I never have to deal with him again.

Official company response

This customer could not be please from start to finish no matter what we did or said was not good enough
Any customers of ours or future customers know we are polite and keep people informed of all procedure
We simply can not help the traffic and unfortunately we hit 5 incidents on the way up and ran out of hours which we are regulated by vosa
We didn't charge any extra money and the goods were delivered in the same condition as we picked them up
As for us being slow to load it was loaded from the fourth floor within one hour and at no time did the customer lift a finger
on arriving at the destination at 06:30 we were met with rudeness and at one point abuse
unfortunately this review is extremely harmfull to our company and is vindictive and malicious for no reason
We are saddened and hope any future customers will see it as it is which is untrue.

Moved from Manchester to Kent.

I was recently moved from a company called Range Relocations based in Ashford Kent, from my 3 bed house in Manchester to Canterbury Kent.
I was highly impressed with the whole overall move and the friendliness, expertise and carefulness of the all group moving me.
The price was easily the most competitive and value for money I could find in and around the SE.

Delighted with the outcome and would highly recommend.

Long-distance move from Maidstone, Kent to Maidstone, Kent

Service.

I am so sad to write this, but I absolutely must warn people who are considering this company. Please do not use them. I am not sure if it is just one of the branches, but we dealt with [NAME EDIT] in Kent and had an appalling and absolutely devastating experience which has put us significantly out of pocket and in an impossible situation. To put it briefly, we were essentially [EDIT] into either paying more money for the move or paying a huge chunk of it when less than 1/3 of our things were taken and essentially held hostage by [NAME EDIT] and his team. It was a horrifying and stressful experience and we were left on our moving day to have to move ourselves. Needless to say, I want everyone to know about this so they can avoid ever having any such experience. It saddens me to have to write it, but I cannot wish this on anyone else. I should also say that [NAME EDIT] and his team will probably try to make up excuses, which is what they did on the day of the move, but these excuses are pure lies and deceit as I have dealt with about 4 movers in the past and non of them have behaved in this way nor ever made such comments. To give you more details so that you don't think this is an unfounded claim, I had arranged for moving my one bedroom flat and had emailed [NAME EDIT] to let him know exactly all of the pieces of furniture I had so that he would know what to expect. I had also said there was an additional stop to pick up what was about an extra one bedroom's worth of things, which were being kept at a storage space at my partner's parent's house. This was an additional cost, but I agreed it as it seemed fair. [NAME EDIT] suggested a Luton van but I was worried it could be a tight squeeze, so we went for a bigger van. This was of course an additional cost, but I agreed it for the sake of everyone's lives being easier, including the movers. [NAME EDIT] said they would call the night before to inform us of the time the movers would show up. The move was arranged for Saturday morning. After work on Friday - around 7pm, I got an irate call from [NAME EDIT] saying he had ben trying to get hold of me all afternoon to let me know the time of the delivery. I thanked him and said that was great, but it appeared that he was actually angry at me that I had not picked up the calls - when I was at work.. and when he was literally just telling me what time they were coming! He was so angry and unpleasant and actually hug up the phone at me when he said they would arrive between 8.30 and 10am. I was shocked and a bit upset, but just let it go. We were getting ready for them to show up at earliest 8.30 but of course (and I am now certain this was on purpose) they arrived much earlier, which was ridiculous considering that was the very point of them telling us the time they would arrive the night before!! In any case, they picked up the first lot and then came to our flat. As soon as [NAME EDIT] came in, he said to me that it was "a lot more than we had agreed". I was a bit surprised, because of course it was exactly what I had told him, not to mention that he is the professional here. I responded sayign that it was good then that I got the bigger van. He mumbled something under his breath saying that we only got the bigger van for the smaller Luton lot to fit easier - how does that make sense? It was a 7 tonne truck which people use to move 3 bedroom houses!! Obviously all of our boxes were stacked in the living room in order to allow us to move around our tiny flat and [NAME EDIT] did not like this. He saw 3 open boxes and told us "you're clearly not ready to move" -WHAT?! I have moved about ten times now and never in my life has anyone suggested that - it is obvious some things are left to the very last minute because you need to use them until the last minute and you simply close those up as the movers are doing their job. He was having none of it though. At that point, it was clear to me that he just didn't want to do the job. He then went on to say "ok, this is what we are going to do - you are clearly not ready, so I am going to take what I have to the other location and then come back. Then we will pick this up. There will of course be an extra cost." I said to him we were not going to pay extra because we were totally ready to go and he should just start, but he refused to listen and kept looking to my partner for what he was going to say. He then said: " fine - I will take a bit off the total cost we agreed and I will take this lot to the house and then you can sort yourselves out for the rest of the move." I am not kidding. He actually said this. I was almost in tears and actually started begging him when I realised he was seriously just going to leave us with an entire flat to move. AN ENTIRE FLAT!
[EDIT]
My boyfriend was equally horrified - and he is a partner in a law firm (I am a lawyer as well) and he was shocked at the thug-ish. disrespectful and unprofessional behaviour . I stayed at the flat and let my boyfriend go to the other house and try to reason with [NAME EDIT] - but [NAME EDIT] was again having none of it. Apparently he held our boxes ransom at the other end until Ryan agreed a price with him. I'm not exaggerating. This is what he did - we had no choice but to pay the bulk of the moving fee for a small part of the move (virtually no furniture - just boxes!!) . But we had no choice. I was also actually afraid of him coming back to our home if we didn't agree the fee. Actually afraid. I have never felt so violated at the same time as confused - who on earth are these people? Sadly, I also found our walls to have been damaged by the movers as they were bringing in the small first lot of things - they clearly wanted to send us a message and make their mark. We had only just painted the entire house, which was obvious. Only another thing to add to the list of issues. Definitely not professionals and certainly not people who have any respect for people or their customers. I am actually in tears writing this now because [EDIT] a day that was supposed to be joyful turned into a horror film where I was frightened, upset and felt like I was a complete mug for ever choosing this company. I am embarrassed that I did not do better research, but the reviews were so great. I am now suspicious of these reviews, but, again, perhaps it is only this particular branch with the problem. I have to say that I was frightened of [NAME EDIT] and his manner. I have never in my life experienced anything like that in a professional context and I do not wish it on anyone. Please please rethink booking this company as they should not be allowed to continue to exploit people like they have us. The price was of course the most reasonable I had been quoted, hence why we booked them after looking at the reviews. I loved the fact that it was a smaller family company and wanted to support that. Never again. At the end of the day - after 7 trips with a newly rented van that we also had to pay for and beg our friends and family to help us with the move - my boyfriend said something very apt to me: When you pay peanuts, you get monkeys. Truer words have not been spoken, except that lightens the horrible and traumatic experience we had. I am actually worried about what we may experience after writing this, but I hope I am wrong and this will simply be taken as a business criticism, which is fair and honest and truthful to the letter.

Official company response

Absolutely Horrified at this untrue review having read it twice
No truth to this what's so ever
We were 15 minutes early for our first pick and asked a very friendly man if it was ok to start as we were a bit early he was fine with it Karolinas boyfriend turned up at around 08:30 and I said hi we've nearly loaded and he smiled and said really that's great and said ill meet you at Tonbridge which was fine
On arriving at the Tonbridge address there was no parking arranged for us and we had to park illegally I walked into the premises and before I even spoke was told we have a lot more goods than we thought I agreed and stated that it wouldn't all fit in one load and that they needed at least a couple of hours before they were ready and packed they were happy for this untill I said there will be a slight charge due to the fact we will be providing an extra trip and that the volume was a lot higher than we were told
That was when Karolinas smile turned to a scowl and lost it with me to the point where her boyfriend Ryan stood in-between Karolina and myself and put his hand up to her and said I've got this this was the only reason I was speaking then to Ryan rather than an angry Karolina
We agreed to to take the load to tunbridge wells and speak at that end while Karolina stayed at the flat to finish packing and tape up all the boxes
On arriving at the destination again there was no parking provided and we had to park 100 metres from the new house I mentioned this to Ryan and said about having to walk up the road with all there goods and we needed to be provided with parking as agreed over the phone with Karolina and via email at that point Ryan said we want to cancel the second pick up so I said without hesitation I will give you the money back that you have paid for the second pick up at no point was there any ransom and the amount that was agreed infact increased so we refunded more than agreed which I have evidence of
We unloaded and when we had finished I spoke to Ryan again and asked to borrow the bathroom when I came out again I said are you sure you don't want us to go back I don't want to leave you in the Learch and he said no don't worry about it I shook his hand and said as soon as I get back to the office ill refund the amount agreed
I then received another email demanding more of a refund so instead of arguing I called and agreed as far as all at Range we thought that we had been very fair with this customer
Now for Karolina being scared someone who was scared certainly didn't hold back on attacking our company also from a tiny flat to 7 trips in a van working untill 19:00
Implying that I won't deal with women is an accusation that I am a Bigot which is again something I can prove otherwise and previous female customers would disagree
We are completely astounded by this review and worried that the falseness will have a detrimental affect on us
We will say that we would never behave in this manner and that we are 5 star rated
All at Range are so upset with this slur on us and today will be seeking legal advice on the slander which we are sure is the case but will find out there are many other contradictions in this review but we feel with have covered enough in our response.
