Moving from Texas to Germany

The company in the USA was very superficial and unreliable. After the Comtainer finally arrived in Bremerhaven, NAVTRANS took over the transport to my German address. My contact person was Andy Vogt. He was very helpful and always kept me up to date. His two men who came to unload were also very friendly and competent. Even though it was a lot of stress for me, we laughed a lot :)) I would recommend the company at any time. !!

International move from , GER to Chandler, AZ

Nearly all boxes broken and damaged.

Savo was my point of contact at NavTrans. At first he was very nice, friendly and helpful. However once the items were picked up any questions I asked were answered vaguely. The items were packed and picked up from our apartment in Germany on January 24th with an arrival date of 8-10 weeks in the US. Unfortunately one week after arriving in North Carolina (early February) I learned I had to go back to Arizona right away. I called Savo and asked what the new cost to arrange shipment to west coast and delivery to AZ. Since our goods had not left Germany it seemed an easy fix. A few days after I contacted Savo he gave me an estimate of $2000 additional to send to west coast port then on to Arizona. This seemed rather high considering when I shipped via Schumacher Logistics to Germany we only paid $3800 one way and Navtrans was no charging us a total of 6000 euros ($7200 one way). I accepted this because what could I do? I was in North Carolina and my goods were in Germany. Over the course of the next 3 months I emailed Savo asking for a sail date. He would never give me one and at one point even emailed me back saying “WHAT IS THE PROBLEM NOW?” Our goods finally arrived on May 30th – FOUR MONTHS later.

I was/am appalled at the condition of the boxes on arrival. The majority of the boxes were severely damaged (I have photos). Not ‘slightly damaged’ but “broke apart to wear items inside boxes were seen.” Things were broken inside the boxes that were not even deemed fragile. It was as if each box was loose inside a container. When we received our shipment from the US to Germany by Schumacher Logistics – the boxes were undamaged – not a single item broken.

Additionally when the land delivery crew called me (Art Haddow) he mentioned rather causally that it was a “good thing my items were in a lift van instead of a 20 foot container because the overland cost was only $500 instead of $2000.” I said to him that is odd because “our stuff was in a lift van not a 20ft container.” This caused him to PAUSE then start saying “oh well it all adds up…” It appears I was intentionally overcharged because I could do nothing about it nor was I aware of the difference between the two land charges.

I truly regret not using Schumacher for the return journey. The reason I did not was when Schumacher gave us their initial estimate prior to leaving US they were off by $2000 once items were packed into containers. I had felt betrayed once their true cost for shipment was realized. However, they made good by shipping the items loose which reduced their final bill by half. Moreover not a single damaged box or item arrived to Germany.

Had I to do this over again I would have gone with the American company. Navtrans was unprofessional, the state of the boxes was deplorable and charging me $2000 instead of the $500 as Mr. Haddow had stated – just disgusting.
