Earth Relocation

I found Earth Relocation via Google. Their website looked professional which is always a nice start. I was glad to see that this professional website flowed over into professionalism and competence at their HQ. Over and above other move companies that I worked with Earth Relo were extremely kind and patient with me. They were more partners of the move, as opposed to 'some company' trying to make a buck. Something that I found was not common across all moving companies. They were great at communicating with me as I had a LOT of questions and I can't thank them enough for that. Samir the salesman that came to measure up my apartment was extremely polite and professional, too. The service was on time and I couldn't be happier with Earth Relo. Thank you Earth Relo if you're reading this. Much appreciated your excellence. Steve .

I felt like I was in good hands.  I did lose 2 boxes and one box was worse for wear.  Things happen and overall the delivery people on both ends where very professional, they knew what they where doing.  When I needed clarification I contacted my salesperson /representative and things where taken  care of.   I called a lot because I was nervous, but they remained patient.   I did wait for my insurance check, but two calls later I had it in my account.  If I had to move again I would use this company even with the mishaps.  Thank you earth relocation for making my move possible.   
My friends recommended this company and I also will recommend them to anyone who asks for a mover.

We have two major complaints about the service we received from this moving company.

1)The packing and loading team was not very professional. They stuffed all of our hanging clothes, suits, coats etc. in boxes, when we were told that they would be carefully stored in special boxes. They damaged furniture, not taking any care during disassembly. They damaged the wooden stairs while taking furniture downstairs.

2)Their partner in France demanded a check (over 600 EUR) for port parking fees. They told us that they would provide us with all necessary documentation so that we could file a claim with French customs who we were responsible for the delay that required parking. This never happened. To this day we don't even have a receipt to show that expense, despite repeated requests.


All in all we are disappointed with our experience with Earth Relocation. Their office staff is friendly but the movers they work with are bottom of the line.

Service cost: $12000

We asked them to move some of our things (a two seater sofa, 10 boxes and an AC) from San Diego to Switzerland. They estimated 125 cubic feet, 2350USD and about 8 weeks for the move.


First the good part: Pickup was flawless. The movers were on time, friendly, quick and professional. I had a good feeling about the move. From there on it went down.


I got an email that the packed volume would be 168 cubic feet, an increase of almost 1000 USD - despite the fact that I sold the AC prior to the move and had less things to transport. In addition, the document had some shipping address in Germany, not Switzerland. Communication was difficult because no one seemed to bother reading my emails. Most of the times I did not get any answer at all, the answers I got indicated that my emails clearly were not read. After several emails I decided to call. The person I talked to was friendly and understanding, but told me that she couldn't decide anything or give me additional information, but that she would talk to her boss (Samir I guess) and he would come back to me. Which he didn't. In the meantime I paid the additional money, because I was told they would withhold my stuff and I would be charged for storage. So the entire game of ignoring my emails began again until I wrote a really angry email, which resulted in a rather unsatisfying answer, so I called again. After a longer discussion Samir figured out that indeed there was a miscalculation of the volume so he promised to refund me around 250$ which despite me writing several emails did not happen until now. And that is after almost 6 months.
In total the move took more than 3 month (!!) longer than I was told in the beginning. Instead of giving all the required paperwork in the beginning (customs etc.), I had the feeling to get additional forms every week. I for instance had to fill out a form that I take full responsibility for any parking violation they have to commit - with a 12.5 tons truck with trailer right in the middle of Zurich. Even when I told them that you can go to jail in Switzerland for false parking, they insisted.


To summarize:
The good:
- Pickup and delivery were quick and without problems
- All items arrives without damage
- Communication works very well - if they want something



The bad:
- Way more expensive than predicted
- Delivery took 3 months longer than expected
- If you want something from them, you are in a world of pain. They ignore your emails, they tell you whatever you want to hear on the phone and then still nothing happens, for everything you have to write 20 emails and call 5 times.


The ugly:
THEY OWE ME 250 Dollars AND IGNORE MY EMAILS.

I never wrote a review for anything before, but the communication policy of this company annoys me to the core. I am so tired of writing emails that end in the trash.

I moved from London to New York in Jan 2017. I was in a hurry but they arranged the packing in London as requested in short notice and delivered in Manhattan, NY as soon as it cleared through customs in NY port.
All goods were well packed, professionally handled and delivered within 4 weeks (door to door). After delivery in New York, they unpacked, assembled furniture.
All items were in the same condition and nothing was damaged. (I had a big glass table top).The price was great for the service and size of the shipment was well measured.
Samir was a professional coordinator and very helpful and it was a hassle free move for me where I was moving countries alone. I've moved few times outside and within the country for my job and this was an excellent experience I had with a relocation company. Thank you Earth Relocation.

Move size: 1 Bedroom Flat Service cost: $3500

Earth Relocations has done numerous moves (both International and Domestic + private and business) for us over the past 5 years .. yes we move a LOT!! My family and I have lived an expat existence for 25 years so we are very familiar with the major moving companies. Earth relocations is exceptional and I can't score them highly enough. Proof is in the fact that 5 years ago they did an international move for us that was private and (separately ) business. Then 18 months later they packed up all our household and put our goods into storage for 3 years. Just recently they removed our stored goods and did an interstate domestic move (NJ to NC). It is testament to their capabilities and service that is ALL those moves we have not had a SINGLE DAMAGE CLAIM. Their teams are prompt; reliable; and professional so there is none of the heart ache and frustration you can sometimes experience during this upheaval.
USE them .. you will be pleased you did.

Move size: 4+ Bedroom Home Service cost: $20000

Major problems in a move from USA to India.
The packers and movers arranged by Earth Relocation arrived 2 hours late and two persons instead of the promised three and did not finish packing and moving until 8pm( Freight elevator in my high rise apartment building is available only 9am to 5 pm).
They charged me for crating of 4 glasstops , but when shipment arrived in India only one glasstop was crated. Multiple items were broken and several items were missing.
The worst problem was with their local team in Bangalore headed by a dishonest man by name Maddy Ibrahim. He managed to extract out of me Rs 109,000 ($ 1703) in addition to the $6000/ I had already paid to Samir Shah in US.
A complaint to Samir Shah did not produce any results.
My recommendation to all moving to Bangalore from US is to avoid this company as the local team in Bangalore is very deceptive and will cheat you at every step.

Move size: 2 Bedroom Home Service cost: $7703

This company has moving experts who help clients like us who have not moved much in the past to guide them well through the nitty gritties of an International move. Our point of contact Sarah was really awesome and very patient. She was well spoken and would answer all our silly questions with utmost care and concern. We are happy to share our positive experience as this company really did all it took to make our transition stress free. They even helped us with apartment search and our native community info in our area since we have never lived in US before. They have another partner who takes care of the relocation side however Earth Relocation manages it all.

I am very delighted and shall use them again on our return. Ciao!!

Best moving company ever experienced!! Me and my family was helped by Earth Relocation for our move from CA to Cottenham, UK earlier this year. They then moved some of my stuff to Singapore from
UK as I have a work assignment in Singapore for 1 year. The stuff arrived in perfect condition and I have to really say that being in US they managed my move so well. I intend to use them again next year for moving back to UK and reunite with my family. Their staff is up to the point and in case of any minor problems, it immediately gets elevated to management so that they can resolve the issues right away before it becomes a disaster unlike other moving companies.

I would like to thank Earth Relocation for their efficient services in shipping our family's belongings to Punta Sal, Peru. The container along with the crew from Lima arrived yesterday in the morning to our residence in Tumbes. Your crew packed and handled my furniture and my fragiles with so much care in New York that everything arrived in our new home  in great shape and condition and we are so happy for that. Your staff in Lima was very responsive and corteous and they were able to provide me with updates of my container while the cntr was still  in customs custody.   I will definitely recommend your services to all my friends amd relatives moving overseas. This is a great new start for our lives in a new country. Happy New Year.

Great Service overall, were very happy with the professionalism of office staff and great attitude of the moving crew.

Even the delivery agent was very professional who brought our furniture in very good time frame from the port in UK as compared to our previous transatlantic move 3 years back!! The fragiles were packed into newsprint and also bubble crafted as compared to paper alone. This impressed us. We had lots of leather outerwear which was pretty pricy and it arrived fine in their nice logoed wardrobe boxes. The crew in Europe also unpacked the boxes and took trash out.

I had an excellent experience moving my belongings from Los Angeles, California to Montreal, Quebec in Canada in November 2016. My agent in LA was very efficient and professional. He fully cooperated in everything, and followed up on every step in detail. The movers, both in LA and Montréal were very kind and worked responsibly. All the items were numbered. Double checked. They delivered some to my condo and some to the storage in Montreal as I had requested with great cooperation. The partners who took over in Montreal once the goods reached Canada were equally proficient. We had no problem clearing the goods from customs and having them delivered on schedule. I recommend earth relocation 100% and give them excellent rating! Thank you for all the hard work. It is greatly appreciated!

Earth Relocation is really great and I'll absolutely use them again. I've moved with them twice: once for an international move and once for a local move. Samir is really great at explaining everything and helping prep. He's responsive and ind and easy to work with.

Both times the moving teams were kind, respectful, careful, quick and efficient. For the local move there was a delay in arrival but - given the time and route - I am fairly certain it was truly due to rush hour traffic. Probably for the local move the cost is a little higher than for a typical (non-international) mover, but the level of care and reliability is well worth it to me.

We used Earth Relocation to move from Jersey City to Mumbai, India. Samir, my point of contact, and his colleagues were always accessible when I had questions. They worked with our budget so we weren't slapped with surprises later in the packing stage. The packers and movers were most impressive - they were professional and efficient. When we arrived in India, their Indian counterparts were just as accessible and helpful. Our stuff was off loaded and unpacked smoothly at our new location. Of all our household items, there were only three minor damages that were taken care of by the company. Our shipment took a month longer to arrive but we had accounted for some of that delay because of terrible weather in New York and general hiccups that come with a cross-country move. Overall, Earth Relocation offered a great service. I would use them again, if I had to.

Our experience with this company was probably the worst anyone can imagine. We moved from Burbank to Pune in March 2018 and met their agent in January 2018. He saw our household stuff and gave us a competitive estimate for our '2 bedroom household stuff with partial packing and door to door delivery within 10-12 weeks via JNPT port'. We ended up going with this company as it was the only company at that point which was ready to pick our stuff up in 2 weeks as we had to take care of rest of the things related to moving. We definitely missed on the due diligence of checking their reviews online and trusted these guys. We ended up paying the following charges:

1. Feb 2, 2018: USD5000 for 400 cubic ft partial packing.
As per our estimate we should have been charged for 300 cubic feet at $3000. Even their quote was mysteriously at the highest rate at 'our' shipment size of 400 cu ft. The rate was lower at 300, and also at 500. We had to pay as they sent us packers in a day and the stuff was palletized quickly. The packers were professionals and very efficient. So far we were okay as we could focus on other moving related items.

2. Mid March and April 2018: we moved to India and were busy with our move.

3. May 2018: By this time we were expecting our stuff to arrive, since 12 weeks had already passed. After following up, we were told that there was a random customs inspection at the Long Beach port and our share of the charges was approx $1500. And at this point we were also told that shipment will arrive at Chennai port instead of JNPT port as there is lot of congestion at JNPT port. We believe that it was just to gain a customer that we were told earlier that our shipment will come at JNPT.

3. June 2018: Almost 5 months later, the shipment finally left from the Long Beach port!

4. July 2018: Our shipment arrives in Chennai and this is where the worst part begins. We needed to send one passport to Chennai port for customs clearance. But we had planned a trip (back) to US for work at around the same time (10-12 weeks right?). Earth relocation's India counterpart agent was very difficult to deal with. He wasn't giving us a clarity about how the customs clearance process would happen. He vaguely mentioned some items (particularly electronics) from the shipment and started telling us how our custom duties would be sky high due to those items. We confirmed from various sources that there are a lot of duty waivers for Indian citizens returning back to India. But he wouldn't budge. We spoke with the US agent to get help, but I guess once they hand off the shipment to India, they are helpless.
We had a drone in our shipment (which they knew about from day 1, and it was banned from being imported in India). They called out the drone a day before our trip back to US and put us in a difficult spot. Finally we ended up paying INR 1,20,000 for the "electronics" (This amount was almost as much as the total valuation of our goods as mentioned on the customs clearance stamp on the passport).
The whole process of dealing with the India agent was a painful experience for me and my husband. We literally started questioning ourselves whether this move was a good decision or not. Nobody should be able to go through such a situation.
We paid that money and got passport back a day before flying as we did not want to deal with this person ever again. We thought that everything is done and we would get our stuff when we come back to India in August after 3 weeks.

5. August 2018: After coming back they asked us for $300 for storing our stuff for 3 weeks (almost same as what customs would charge as demurrage). We paid that money since dealing with this team was draining our energy. Still we did not receive the shipment as planned as they could not find a truck driver, saying nobody is willing to drive to Pune as EX-CM of Tamilnadu had passed away. We had lost our hope and finally after some more painful calls and after paying the moving men we got our shipment on Aug 14th 2018.

It took "6 months and 12 days" and approx $8500 to get our shipment delivered. The only reason I am writing this review is I do not want any other family to suffer like we did, as we know how difficult moving your decade(s) worth of stuff is. Money earned by such dishonest ways is not going to take this company anywhere in the long run and I request these people to do their business the right way. We would have paid the money without any hesitation if they would have been honest and upfront about all these charges from the beginning.

Entire journey from the first interaction till the final unpacking at my home in Hyderabad was in word 'FABULOUS'. Samir personally took interest and briefed me about the entire process, even showing flexibility in making arrangements to collect additional boxes, after departure of the initial cargo(showed true customer centricity). Maddy the local liaison in India was truly fantastic and kept me in loop about the cargo. finally everything reached my doorsteps without any damages was the icing on the cake. Thanks a lot to the entire team.

5 Stars for sure. Moving long distance from NJ to GA. Reached out to earth relocation through a friend's referral. Samir visited and gave us an fair estimation. I had specific timelines for move and Samir made sure that it happens as per my needs. Certain furniture required skilled packing and transportation. He also ensured that certain items were packaged in crates. Great packing. The delivery was spot on. Samir made sure the timeline was met and delivery was done exactly when I wanted. I recommend Earth Relocation without reservation. My move was international, I was nervous. Of the 4 companies I spoke with, Kapil was the most reassuring person I spoke with, answered all questions and helped me plan. They packed my things and nothing was broken. Through the entire process they did what they said they would do, exceeded my expectations, the team was always responsive, and, their agent and delivery people in my new country, Greece were equally responsive and professional.
