<\/h4>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img src=\"data:image\/gif;base64,R0lGODlhAQABAIAAAAAAAP\/\/\/yH5BAEAAAAALAAAAAABAAEAAAIBRAA7\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-aspectratio=\"690\/445\" width=\"690\" height=\"445\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.removalreviews.co.uk\/move\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/07\/What-happens-if-you-cannot-complete.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-27500 lazyload\" data-srcset=\"https:\/\/www.removalreviews.co.uk\/move\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/07\/What-happens-if-you-cannot-complete.jpg 690w, https:\/\/www.removalreviews.co.uk\/move\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/2\/2023\/07\/What-happens-if-you-cannot-complete-300x193.jpg 300w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 690px) 100vw, 690px\" \/><\/figure><\/div>\n\n\n<p>There are potentially several scenarios where you could fail to complete after exchange, you could lose your job, or even the vendor dies between exchange and completion.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Most solicitors will recommend as short a practical period as possible between exchange and completion to help reduce the possibility of any problems arising during this period.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Should you be made redundant between exchange and completion, then you must inform your mortgage provider, who will, in all likelihood, withdraw the mortgage offer, you will have to pull out of the purchase, and may then incur the charges mentioned in the previous section.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the vendor, for example, were to die between exchange and completion, then the contract of sale is still valid and the sale can still go ahead, although the completion date may not be met.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Whatever circumstances arise for you being unable to complete, always seek legal advice as quickly as possible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Who_is_responsible_for_a_house_between_exchange_and_completion?\">Who is responsible for a house between exchange and completion?<\/h4>\n\n\n\n<p>It is normally written into the contract that the buyer is responsible for any damage to the home after the exchange of contracts, which is why it is so important to take out insurance as soon as you have exchanged contracts. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Should there, for example, be a roof leak or damage between exchange and completion, the seller must inform the buyer immediately, and the buyer would then be able to claim on their insurance policy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If the buyer fails to take out insurance after exchange, then the buyer would be responsible for any repair costs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Check exactly what the contract states about such a situation so that you know exactly what your responsibilities are.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"Can_you_move_in_between_exchange_and_completion?_\">Can you move in between exchange and completion?
